Chapter 155: Ch 155: Not going to happen
All nice things must end, and Rika’s arrangement with her friends was no different.
The fifteen minutes Rika spent cuddling with her friends felt like an eternity, but they did not feel long enough.
Her body and instincts yearned for more, but her rational side was racing against time, cautioning her to withdraw before the situation escalated.
“I…think I am fine now. I should head out and check up on Charon. I must also head back and sleep since classes start tomorrow.”
Rika made an excuse to pull herself away from Emily and Damian’s side.
Their arms remained around Rika for a few seconds longer than she anticipated, sparking a glimmer of hope for more.
“Alright! We understand. You go ahead, Rika. We will follow you in a second.”
Emily assured Rika as she leaned against Damian’s chest. Her breathing felt laboured, and there was an unnatural blush on her face.
Rika had a weird feeling that she would find her answer to Rika’s question if she looked down. And she made the mistake of doing just that and quickly looking back up with a cheery red face.
“I…will be heading out now. Take care of yourself well before following after me.”
Rika was no prude (except she was), but her mind could not handle seeing Emily and Damian aroused.
Despite having crossed the line with the pair before, this still felt like forbidden territory for Rika’s mind to venture into.
It also made her feel hot and unlike herself, and Rika did not like that. So, she chose not to think about it much and quickly ran away from the room.
Emily chuckled as she watched Rika run away.
“She’s so cute. I wonder if Rika will remain as shy as she is once she gets marked after her heat. I don’t mind such a thing happening. What about you-?”
Emily received an impatient grunt as her answer before the door was locked behind her back, and she was stuck with Damian in that room.
It was good that hospital rooms were scent-blocking and would not allow pheromones to leak out. Otherwise, Damian’s pheromones would send half of this hospital in the heat with their strength.
…
Rika’s face flamed as she ran out of that hospital room and toward the front desk.
She wanted to forget what had happened and concentrate on Charon and what had happened to her.
Rika had not paid much attention to the hospital before, but there was something familiar about this place that Rika could not put her hands on.
“Hmm, I am sure that I know this place. But where have I seen this before? Why can’t I remember it?”
The lobby of this place made memories flash in Rika’s mind. The name was almost on her tongue, but it would not escape her mouth.
Of course, this meant that Rika had to have the worst luck possible and run into the people she wanted to run into the least.
Mark and Suzie stood at the front desk, talking to the beta in charge of Suzie’s schedule.
Rika could suddenly remember why this palace looked so familiar to her now. This was because Suzie received regular treatment at the hospital.
‘No wonder this place looked and felt familiar, but I could not find a place where I had seen it before. I paid little attention during these visits.’
Rika decided to turn around and walk away before she was noticed. But her luck could have been better, and Suzie noticed Rika.
That would not have been a big deal since Suzie had no intention of calling Rika out, but the real problem was Mark and his impulsive actions.
He noticed where Suzie was looking at and Rika’s silhouette walking away.

Mark’s mouth moved faster than his brain, and he called out to Rika without thinking about where he was or what he was doing.
“Rika! Hey Rika, wait a minute. I am talking to you. Stop pretending that you did not hear me.”
Mark called out to Rika once, but she did not answer him. She did that because she did not want a public confrontation with him.
But Mark’s alpha brain took this the wrong way, and he felt agitated that he was being ignored by a beta he had commanded to stop.
Suzie noticed it the second Mark decided to go after Rika. She needed to stop her brother before he made a scene.
“Mark, stop! This is not the time or the place. Calling out to Rika right now will put her in an awkward situation.”
Suzie reminded her brother, but what she truly wanted to say was that she would be put in an awkward position if he went after Rika.
And being made fun of was the last thing Suzie wanted to happen to her.
She was sure Mark would listen and stop her since she had Mark under such a tight grasp.
However, Mark suddenly decides to stop listening to Suzie and do what he wants to do.
“Suzie, let me go for a second. I need to talk to Rika about something important, and then I will return it to you. All right, actually.
Mark asked, and he tried to make Suzie let go of his arm. But Suzie was stubborn, and she held onto him.
She could feel her brother’s temper rising but was unafraid of him.
No matter how angry or annoyed Mark got at her, he would only sigh and give in to her demands.
That was supposed to happen, but Mark shocked Suzie by trying to pull away from her grip.
“Mark, are you abandoning me here? No, I don’t want that! Please, don’t leave me alone! I want to stay with you all the time.”
Suzie complained as she held onto her brother as tightly as she could. She had a feeling that Mark would go after Rika as soon as he could, and she would not risk that. She would rather hold her brother back physically.
