Chapter 162: Ch 162: The tempting offer

For a minute, that was the only sound that permitted the emptiness of the hospital room.

Neither of the four said anything as they stood still in silence and waited for someone else to make the first move.

Finally, Rika could not take the silence anymore, and she decided to address Mark.

“Are you not going to pick up the phone? It’s Suzie, right? I am sure she is calling for you now. You should head to her and reassure her that everything is alright. Isn’t that what you came here for in the first place? For her doctor’s appointment?” Rika’s words hung heavy in the air.

Rika asked in a tired voice.

Her body felt like breaking down, and Rika was only held on due to her sheer willpower.

Mark looked conflicted. He repeatedly opened his mouth to decide when the phone fell silent and began to ring again.

“I…Suzie can wait for a minute. But Rika, I want to”

“I understand that you want to talk to me. But the more you delay going to Suzie, the worse she will feel. You chose her a long time ago, Mark. You cannot undo your choices just because you feel like it.”

Rika reminded her brother, but it frustrated Mark even more.

“This is not a competition! You are both my precious sisters. I do not have to choose between you two to love you both, now do I?”

“You should have thought of that before you chose Suzie Goodwill.”

Mark sounded even more frustrated now, but Damian’s words were his final blow. His body sagged, and Mark left the room with a sad look on his face.

Rika almost ran after him to comfort him, but she stopped herself at the very last second and gripped Damian’s shirt hard.

As soon as Mark was out of the room, Rika collapsed as her knees lost all power. Her pheromones were not going to stay away from her forever.

“Shit! This needs to be better. At this rate, I will be truly in trouble.”

Rika complained while bringing her hand up to her pheromone glands and rubbing them to remove the soreness.

Emily wrapped herself around Rika tightly and rubbed her scent all over her body to help the pseudo-omega relax. But this only irritated Rika’s gland even more.

The cups of heat that threatened to engulf Rika were not lessening either. It felt like Rika was in the middle of an attack she did not know how to handle.

“Does it hurt a lot, Rika? Would you like us to help? A marking should make you feel better…. Woah! Not a permanent one, but a temporary one should work well, right?”

Rika’s reaction was wild when Emily’s words registered in her head.

A marking was the same as ‘claiming,’ and it was intimate for anyone. It involved a lot of sexual acts as well as being close to each other.

In simpler terms, the best time to claim someone was during an omega’s heat and while having sex.

Rika’s face flooded with red at that suggestion, and all the blood rushed toward her head.

“I…what…huh? I’m sorry! I think I heard that suggestion wrong.”

She was sure that she had not heard it wrong, but Rika wanted to give Emily a chance to change her decision and rethink her choices,

But Emily only smiled a bright smile and repeated herself.

“I asked if you wanted a temporary marking. It will keep your body’s reaction at bay, and you can relax more easily. You don’t have to do it if you don’t want to. It’s just…it will be better for you if you have such protection.”

Emily nuzzled her head against Rika’s neck as she spoke. Her voice sent shivers down Rika’s spine every time she heard it.

It wasn’t easy to reason right now, but Rika was not too far gone not to realise what a fantastic offer this was.

“I don’t want to force you or Damian into this. You have your life to live, and a mark would only interfere with it, right? Moreover, having an omega added to your life will take work. You should take your time and think about it properly.”

Rika had just been stalling for a while at this point.

It was clear that what Emily wanted. And Rika even knew that Emily would get her way in the end.

What Rika was worried about was Damian and his reaction to all this. He was too possessive to share his lover, and Rika was anticipating him to bite her head off.

But the intense look he gave Rika made butterflies flutter in her eyes.

“Are you worried about Damian, Rika? You should not be! I told you before, right? Damian is a wild man. You cannot imagine the kind of fantasies he has about you. He likes you as much as I do. So why don’t you give this arrangement a chance?”

“Be our omega for about a month! You can break things off if you don’t want to after that. But for now, could you allow us to mark you? It will make your heat easier to bear as well.”

Emily’s words made too much sense, and she knew how to make Rika’s body melt into hers.

Rika was jealous of any other omega or beta who could have experienced something similar. It made Rika want things she should not like as the pair’s friends.

‘Friend! Ha! As if! I crossed that line a long time ago. I know I should say ‘no’ to this offer since it will destroy this friendship, but I cannot remember why it is a bad idea.’

Damian’s eyes were hard, and he seemed to be restraining himself. It made it seem as if he was angry, but Rika could see it now!

That dark desire Emily often told Rika about was clear in Damian’s eyes when he looked at Rika.

A lot would change if Rika took Emily’s offer. But things had already turned weird for her. She did not think it could get any stranger than this, even if she tried.

In the end, there was all but one answer she could give to the pair.
