Middle Child Syndrome - Chapter 190
Chapter 190: Ch 190: Easy Bait
“Sure, bro! I will sign whatever you want me to. As long as you scratch my back, I will also scratch yours.”
John agreed with ease despite his girlfriend’s begging. He even got her signature and fingerprint along with his.
The more this agreement was finalised, the happier the boss looked, which relieved John.
“So, bro, I will leave everything up to you now. Do let me know if you need anything from me.”
The alpha finally left and dragged his complaining girlfriend out of the room. That left that mafia alpha and this secretary alone in the room.
“Hey, secretary, make sure you take care of ‘little bro’ and his ‘bitchy miss.’ They both were getting on my nerves a little too much. I wanted to kill them so badly.”
The boss complained as he rubbed his ears to get rid of the dirt or anything else that might be stuck there.
He did not look concerned about the task he had agreed to do for the couple, mainly because he knew he would not do that.
Instead, the mafia boss would eliminate the pair that just walked out.
“I understand, boss. I will have those two disposed of. What should we do about the property they signed off on? Should we merge it into our business and expand our territory?”
The beta secretary asked with a calm voice. He had seen such scenes many times, and over time, he had gained immunity for such scenes.
“Nah! We have more than enough business area for now. We shall gift this land to our boss and have him deal with it all. I am sure Rocxx Steinz would appreciate our little gift.”
The mafia alpha asked before he cracked his shoulder to get off the sourness and stood up.
John had made bad decisions after bad decisions. But this wrong decision would be his and his girlfriend’s last one.
…
“Rika, you have a mail. Here, this document is for you.”
The landlady handed Rika the small document the following day. A few papers inside looked like property papers, but Rika needed help reading and understanding what was written on them.
So, she quickly packed these papers, but she had a bad feeling about it.
Her feelings worsened as she walked toward the uni and noticed the gloomy atmosphere surrounding the place.
Rika almost did not want to step inside the campus when a hoard of people rushed toward her to walk inside. That also made Rika walk inside, but she felt unsafe there.
It did not take Rika long to know why she was feeling so off and what her instincts were trying to warn her about.
During lunchtime, a tried beta approached Rika’s table and slammed her tray in front of her.
“Hey! What did you do? How did both John and Betty (John’s girlfriend) end up dead? It is your fault. Tell me what you did to them.”
The beta questioned loudly, and the cafeteria looked toward Rika and her.
Rika blinked a few times in shock as she looked up at the other female with shock. She had not even known that John and his girlfriend were dead.
“Your friends…they died? Are you sure? And even so, why are you asking me about this? Do you think I killed them off?”
Rika asked in a shocked voice, and her hesitance to answer made it clear that this was also news to her.
But the beta friend did not give up. She was convinced that Rika had a hand in this killing, and she wanted to prove it.
“Who else would it be but you? No one else had a recent beef with John and Betty except you. But you clashed with them more than once. Just confess to your sins already and go to jail.”
The beta friend was getting agitated now. Rika could tell how hard this friend was taking this death.

“I did not do it. I don’t care if you believe me or not, but I have nothing to do with your friend’s death. I did not even know that they were dead until now.”
Rika was sincere in her words, but her lack of care convinced the beta friend that she did not do it.
After all, could someone remain calm after causing such a significant incident?
“I-If you did not do it, then who did it? Who would be cruel enough to do such a thing? I-”
The beta stopped speaking, and Rika gave her time to gather herself. (not that she had a choice)
Before Rika could say anything more to console the woman in front of her, someone else decided to speak up.
“John got what he deserved. After all, he also made many enemies outside our school. On the other hand, his girl got caught up in all this. You should be glad you were not close enough with him to get killed, miss.”
Rika heard that irritating voice, and her first instinct was to sit back up and walk away.
She was about to do that when that rude alpha from yesterday placed his arm around Rika and leaned his entire weight against her.
It caused Rika to feel uncomfortable and become hyper-aware of the alpha presence behind her.
“E-Enemies? John had those? But he’s an alpha! Why would he have enemies?”
The beta from before asked with a questioning frown.
Looking at her was like looking at a child who did not yet know the ins and outs of the world. It made Rika feel sorry for her.
On the other hand, the Alpha leaning against Rika could not hold his laughter back, and he ended up cracking out loud.
“That was funny! Oh my! I don’t think I’ve laughed this much in a while. I never knew someone could be this ignorant. But now I see that I was wrong about you. Not only are you ignorantly hilarious, but you also have no idea how the world works.”
“You, my friend, are what we call as ‘easy bait.'”
