Middle Child Syndrome - Chapter 228
Chapter 228: Ch 228: Collapsing tower
When her father entered the room, he looked awkward. He did not seem to know how to treat Suzie, which was what Suzie wanted to see.
Out of everyone in her house, her father was the only person incapable of holding grudges against her. He was too soft and gentle to do anything but take care of Suzie.
That was why, even if no one else believed in her, Suzie knew her father would believe her words and shelter her under his wing.
But first, Suzie needed to act and get his sympathy. And she was good at doing that.
“Suzie, are you feeling alright? The maid said that you were not feeling good. Are you sure you do not want a doctor to examine your health?”
Those were the first words her father spoke to her, which only validated Suzie’s point.
Her father could do nothing but fret over Suzie as he watched her struggle to catch her breath.
“I am fine. I don’t need a doctor when I have you beside me.”
Suzie knew what to say to make her father melt. Just as she expected, her father made a concerned face before his eyes softened, and he looked at Suzie.
But even then, he did not try to tell Suzie that he would help her get better and have freedom.
“Father, can you take me to grandmother’s house? I miss her, and I want to see her. No one believes me in this house when I tell them I am innocent, but I know my grandmother will have my back.”
Suzie begged as she looked up at her father.
His father cringed when he heard what Suzie had asked of her.
Suzie knew that her father had a strained relationship with his mother (her grandmother), and it had gotten to a point where they did not talk much.
It was all because the old alpha did not like her son’s decision to allow his alpha wife to carry a child.
A lot was said and done, and Suzie never got to hear the whole story, but she knew that her grandmother did not like Rika and her mother much after that.
As for Suzie, that did not matter. Her grandmother could be a bitch and kill all her friends, and Suzie would still love her more.
‘Oh yeah! I don’t have friends now; I only have people who have sold me out. I should know better than to expect anything now.’
Suzie sighed before returning to work and looked at her father with her begging eyes.
It made her father sigh in annoyance and regret before he granted her wish.
“Fine, I get it! I will talk to your mother about this visit, but if she says ‘no, ‘ that is it.”
Suzie’s father responded, but that was as good as confirmation for her.
There was no way her mother would ever say ‘no’ to her father, especially when the condition was so minor. Suzie was sure that everything would work out fine-
…
“No. Suzie is still prohibited, so I will not allow her to visit anyone. She can meet your mother once her punishment is done.”
Suzie looked at her mother blankly. Her father seemed equally surprised but resigned. They were both astonished at her mother’s decision to say ‘no.’
This sudden turn of events made Suzie look at her father in support. She wanted him to say anything that would help her out.
But her father just sighed and seemed content to sit back and relax.
He also looked a little relieved after hearing these words. It was clear that he did not want to visit his mother, and he was happy that his wife said ‘no’ so he did not have to.
But how could Suzie ever accept this outcome? She needed to make sure that her plans were not disturbed…

“I want to go! You already locked me up in my room for the past few days, so can’t you do the same at grandmother’s place? I feel so lonely alone in my room without anything to do.”
Suzie complained, hoping that this would change her mother’s mind.
But her mother looked more pleased than anything when she heard Suzie complain.
“Good! That would keep you in check and make you realise wrong actions have harmful consequences. Now, I will not hear any complaints. Finish your food and head back to your room now.”
Natasha Goodwill was often lenient against her daughter’s actions, but she also had morals.
As much as she wanted to believe Suzie when she said she did not do this, Rika knew it was not valid. Her daughter was at fault here, and there was no denying it.
‘Suzie should be glad I am letting her get away with only a house arrest and nothing else. Everyone else ended up in jail before they got bailed out.’
That detail was left out of the information given to Suzie. However, this only happens because Natasha uses her influence and labels Suzie as a victim instead of a user.
She also paid good money to remove all the evidence of what happened from the system.
But Suzie did not consider her work, and the spoilt brat stood up suddenly.
Her pheromones smelled weird, but Natasha could not pinpoint what felt wrong.
She knew that Suzie did not smell like the sweet smell they were used to smelling.
“Tsk, this is unfair. You are only punishing me because I am an omega. If Mark or even Rika were in my place, you would not have punished them.”
Suzie complained before she stood up to walk away.
Mark was the one who decided to speak up against her words this time.
“It is not because you are an omega, Suzie; you made a mistake. If it were either Rika or me in your palace, we would not have gotten caught in the first place.”
Suzie felt her anger boiling inside her. Mark had never spoken to her like this, and she refused to hear him speak to her like this.
