Chapter 230: Ch 230: Regulas Ford’s Trickery
‘So, I ended up coming here after all. I still don’t want to go inside, but my feet move independently. Since I came here anyway, I might as well see this all through.’

Rika sighed as she walked through the main doors of the Goodwill company’s main office, where her mother was waiting for her.

The female alpha looked happy to see Rika, but there was also a hint of irritation in her eyes when she looked around.

Her gaze looked mainly meaningful when she looked at the older man beside her.

Rika knew that man from photos she had seen of her mother’s work team. He was Regulas Ford, one of the chairmen of his mother’s company.

Since Rika guessed this much, she could also think that the young beta standing beside the pair was Luna Ford, Mr. Ford’s daughter and a good student.

The other female had been visiting this office since she was very young. Rika had seen her around often and had felt the desire to make friends before she was rejected as a random passerby by Luna.

‘Oh well! That does not matter. That all happened in the past, anyway. For now, I can guess why we were both called in here. There’s a job opening for more than one person.’

This was not her mother’s style to book multiple people for the same post. So, Rika was sure Mr. Ford had planned this and called his daughter to make a scene.

He pressured Alpha Goodwill to make her agree to his demands this time.

‘This is not going to work. But I can tell how uncomfortable Luna Ford feels. Should I go ahead and save her from this mess?’

Rika liked the other beta and her calm and detached personality. That helped her decide, and she quickly walked toward the group and made her presence known.

Her mother was the first to turn toward her, but Mr. Ford greeted Rika first.

“Little Rika, you are here! Congratulations on your new intern position. Did you meet my daughter Luna? She will be with you and join you as an intern as well. Since you both are the same age, you can become friends.”

Mr. Ford was pushing hard for this agenda, making Rika uncomfortable.

She looked at Luna, and the beta looked just as uncomfortable and flushed as Rika had felt at that moment.

However, Mr. Ford showed no sympathy toward either of them and continued smiling back at Rika with that ambiguous smile.

“Ugh, how often must I tell you this, Regulus? There is only one opening available, and Rika was selected for it. I cannot create a new one just because you want your daughter to get the post here. Things don’t work that way.”

Rika could tell that her mother was reaching her limit soon.

Mister Ford was playing with fire here, and he knew that.

“Oh, come on, Natasha. One post, two posts! Why does it even matter? If you are worried about money and payment, then don’t be. I will pay my daughter out of my salary. You need to sanction her work here.”

The older man smiled coldly at his mother. He had it all figured out and was unwilling to hear any excuse.

Among this trouble, the only one Rika felt sorry for was Luna Ford.

She looked uncomfortable and ready to bolt. She also tried to tug her father to step back, but the older man did not pay her any attention.

Rika decided to help the female before she could faint from all the pressure she was feeling. She grabbed the older beta’s wrist and dragged her toward the restroom.

“Excuse me, but I will take Miss Luna to the restroom. She does not look to be in a good condition, and I’m afraid this fighting is not helping. Please, come get us once you are done.”

No one else would have dared interrupt two alphas talking like this, and Rika from before would not have expected herself to act like this.

But whatever fear Rika was supposed to feel no longer affected her. Instead, she found the courage to grab Luna’s hand and drag her away from this fight.

Luna looked much better once Rika had her sit down and remove her shoes. The poor beta looked to be in shock right now.

“Thank you for taking me out of her. I told the father this was not a good idea, but he refused to listen and even had me take a month off school. Why can’t he be more rational like his mother and listen to reason? Does he need to let his pride get the best of him every time?”

Luna complained in a distressed voice.

She must be in worse condition than Rika thought since the other female complained in front of strangers and did not hold back.

But instead of feeling concerned or even shocked, Rika felt understood.

“Alphas are too prideful for their goods, and it might not look like it, but omegas can be the same. They lose all reason once their pride is on the line. You don’t have to feel sorry about this.”

Rika assured the other female, causing the beta to look sharply at her with a curious look.

Luna Ford looked suspicious of Rika before understanding flashed across her eyes, and she relaxed.

“You are a beta as well? Father told me you were a beta, but you looked so much like an omega that it made me forget. Besides, this sweet smell-”

“It’s a perfume. I decided to put some on recently, but I might not have. I can get the scent out if you want me to.”

Rika asked, but Luna just shrugged and relaxed.

“No! Let that smell remain. Now that I think about it, this is not so bad. Let me catch my breath for now.”

Luna assured before she relaxed.

Rika felt they were both alike and could become good friends.

Of course, that was if her mother and Regulas Ford agreed to let them both work simultaneously.
