Rika’s brain felt under a fog, and she could not concentrate.

Emily realised what was happening but could not help Rika except physically be there. It made her inner alpha feel displeased, but she had to forcefully distance herself from this situation before doing anything stupid.

Like getting up and driving to Rika’s place to kidnap her.

“Rika, just go to sleep now! Don’t think about anything else. If you get in trouble, just call me, and I will get you out.”

Emily’s voice faded from Rika’s mind as sleep finally overtook her. When she opened her eyes next time, it was already morning, and the sun was just beginning to rise.

The culprit behind Rika’s early day was her alarm. But she could not remember why she had set the alarm up.

‘I’m sure there was something that I needed to do today. I should drag myself out of the bed first and then try to figure out what happened. I am sure that everything is alright…yeah, now I remember! I need to head to work.’

It finally stuck with Rika on what she needed to do, and she quickly got ready.

Rika still had half an hour before she had to leave when her phone rang, and an unknown number flashed across her screen.

She was not one to pick up unknown numbers, but Rika’s phone was brand-new. Not many people had her new number, which made Rika curious about her caller, and she ended up picking the phone up.

“Hello! Is that Rika? It’s been some time since I last talked to you, right? Can you give me some of your time? I think we need to clear out the air between us.”

Zhu Li’s voice came across the phone, and Rika was slightly surprised by the sudden call.

Truthfully, she had almost forgotten about Zhu Li’s existence after what happened, followed by Damian’s rut. She thought that Zhu Li also wanted to pretend that nothing had happened.

However, that was not the case since Zhu Li had called Rika to talk to her.

“I decided to hold off from calling until now because I wanted to give you time to heal. But since I need to head back tonight, I want to talk to you. Do you have some time?”

Rika looked at the clock and sighed.

She only had half an hour and then her lunch break. If Zhu Li could make it quickly, Rika could lend him an ear.

That was what she told the dominant alpha as well. But he did not sound panicked.

“Great! This is excellent news. Then, can you come out and meet me at the junction? I am waiting for you there. Let’s get this conversation out of the way before we both get busy for the remainder of our day.”
