Middle Child Syndrome - Chapter 239
Chapter 239: Ch 239: A better turn
“What the heck are you saying? This was not what I told you to admit!… I’m sorry, managing director. It looks like the pressure got to Rika, and she is saying whatever bullshit she needs to get out of trouble. I will take care of her in a minute.”
Darling promised sweetly before she turned to Rika and gave her the foulest look possible. Her nails also bit into Rika’s arm, and she felt the wound sting, causing her to hiss out in pain.
“Rika, we talked about this before. We’re here to discuss how you messed up your work and could not finish it on time. Now, why don’t we try to admit our mistakes again? This time, go slow and speak each word more clearly.”
The omega was trying to take control of the situation. She likely thought that Rika would bow to her if she showed how good and patient of a superior she was.
But Rika had faced too many two-faced people by now. She was too tired of this bullshit and wanted it to end.
“So, you want me to admit how I did not do my work because you assigned it to me after everyone was gone and asked me to do overwork for something I had no idea how to do? Yeah! This does sound like it is all my fault here.”
Rika’s words made the female omega red-faced, and she raised her hand to slap Rika.
But Rika would not let it be easy to hit her face, so she grabbed the offending wrist before twisting her.
The omega cried out in pain and turned to her boss for help.
“Ok, this is enough drama. I’ve heard both sides and concluded that the intern was not at fault. Now, can you both leave so that I can get my work done? Also, it would be best if both of you showed up at my office sometime soon. I won’t be free to meet you for some time.”
The managing director was quick to make his side known before he threw them both out.
Rika felt that her mother had warned the highest-level staff about being careful with the two interns this time.
‘I usually do not like it when my mother interferes, but I don’t mind it much this time. Now, what do I do with this one standing behind me?’
Rika did not look back, but she could feel the thundering expression of the omega looking at her and glaring daggers into her back. The omega muttered a lot under her breath, but Rika was lucky not to hear any of it.
She felt most of it was insults, not the mild type most people used.
When Rika returned to their department and sat at her desk, it was deadly silent. No one bothered to ask her anything once they noticed that their ‘darling’ was in a bad mood.
They could all guess their boss had taken Rika’s side during this confrontation.
Rika wanted this calm atmosphere to last a long time, but it did not take long before the darling started her second plan to cause Rika trouble.
“Hey, girl! Have you gotten used to working in the office yet? Well, even if you have not, it cannot be helped. Please do some work for us. Our department was asked to send someone to entertain and inform our guests about our produce, and you will be heading out.”
Rika had been having this annoying feeling for some time that said that trouble was heading her way, and it finally did hit her.
Others around Rika looked disturbed and shocked at her work as well. They could not help but look at their darling with wide-eyed, shocked faces.
“Miss, that is not a wise idea! It’s an important meeting with our long-term clients. We must make sure everything runs smoothly. No matter how short-staffed we are today, we can’t send an intern to head it.”
One beta spoke up in Rika’s defence to make the situation right. He was not the only one who agreed with this notion.
Bullying was one thing, but to cause everyone trouble just to bull, someone new was going too far!
Unfortunately, these words had no impact on the omega and her decision. She dismissed the omega without even hearing him out completely.
“Hmm, I don’t care if she’s new or not. She should have thought about her position before she went and caused us all this trouble. Now, I don’t want to hear anything else.”
The omega shut off her colleagues, and everyone shook their heads.
“Sorry for her hard-headedness. She’s just jealous that you got to work here so young while she had to reapply many times and get so many degrees.”
“Yeah, don’t mind her. If you want, I can give you a document and information on the people you will interact with. Don’t be too nervous once you hear the two young leaders meeting today.”
The more Rika heard about this meeting, the more she disliked it.

But she changed her mind when she heard the names of the participants coming here today.
“Alpha Steinz, Miss Emily, I mean! She will represent #1, and Mark Goodwill will #2. I know it sounds intimidating, but don’t worry much. You don’t need to interact with them while in the meeting. All you need to do is stand in the corner and give them papers when they want you to.
It’s a much simpler task than you think this to be.”
The worker assured Rika, but Rika felt more relaxed than she had been up until now when she heard the person she needed to serve.
‘This is the first nice thing that happened to me once I started working here. It is not so bad to be an intern and be hated by my immediate boss.’
Things had suddenly taken a turn for the better, and Rika could not help but feel happy about it.
