Chapter 244: Ch 244: No rest for the weak
“I’m not following you anywhere. I want to stay with Emily for the time being. This is my decision and also my job. If you have any problem, please take it up with my management.”

Rika tried to keep a straight face, but she was sure she was already failing.

She had not meant to say those words because they implied that sleeping with Emily was also part of her job description, but Rika had already spoken up, and she could no longer take her words back.

Mark looked struck by Rika’s words before his anger exploded, and he decided to take matters into his own hands.

“You are an intern! No one gives such an important role to an intern. Ugh, I feel like this will be a headache. Can you head back so I can sort my head out? I don’t think I can hold my temper back any longer.”

Mark confessed, and Rika sighed before standing up and walking out.

She only did that because Mark looked ready to explode. And Rika did not want to be there when Mark inevitably exploded and caused trouble.

“Rika, go! I will call you when I need to talk to you again. For now, you should focus on yourself.”

Emily makes Rika’s decision by patting her head and helping her up.

Looking at her made Mark bite the inside of his cheek. It felt sour to touch, but he stopped himself before he drew blood.

He did not like Emily and her presence in Rika’s life. But he endured it for Rika’s sake.

Whatever politeness was left in Mark’s expression drained out the second Rika left the room. Emily was no different in that regard, either.

As soon as her omega was out of the way, she turned into her cold self, who did not care about anyone else but herself.

“Young master Goodwill, how may I help you? We both know that this is just a formal meeting on the surface. All the dealings have been discussed and signed already.”

Emily reminded the older alpha, but Mark could not help but grit his teeth in return for this dry greeting.

“Tsk, I know. I don’t like the way you behave around my sister. Rika deserves better than a fake and unstable person like you or even that demon Damian Rodric. You will ruin her life if you continue to associate with her.”

Mark complained, trying to hurt Emily. But she did not even flinch when Mark said these words.

Instead of looking concerned, Emily let out a satisfied smile.

“I know how Rika would end up if she stayed with me and Dami! But the thing is, I am too greedy to care about it. It took me so long to get Rika and make her mine! There is no way I am giving up now.”

Emily kept smiling at Mark, making him madder by the second.

He was about to reach out and grab Emily by her collar when their sensitive hearing picked up a familiar name being said in an annoyed noise.

The door had been accidentally left open just the slightest amount, causing the soundproofing in this room to fail.

But that was not important right now.

They needed to check on Rika and see what the hell happened.

Someone would have a hard time today, and the alphas would make it a challenging ride.

For the first time in their lives, Emily Steinz and Mark Goodwill reached an agreement, and it was not surprising that it was over Rika.

The one yelling at Rika was a useless omega they had never seen before. But the amount of beauty jobs this omega had gotten done could be seen on her face.

Not only that, but the pheromones she gave out indicated that she was a gold-digger trying to attract a worthy alpha to take as a mate and not work.

In simple words – she was a worthless woman they did not need to pay attention to at the moment.

But Omega had made a grave mistake—messing with Rika. And for that, she could not be forgiven.

Rika breathed a sigh of relief as she quickly walked out of that stuffy room.

The two alphas in there looked ready to kill each other, and their pheromones did a lot of work for them.

An omega or an ordinary beta would have collapsed under that pressure, but Rika’s insensitivity saved her.

She could not control her body’s reaction and the quickening of her breath because of her alpha’s pheromones in the air. It was a physical reaction that usually followed such a scene.

‘Ah, I am marked by Emily, after all. I should not be surprised that my body is showing such symptoms. But man, it sucks! I want to calm down and not feel like this.’

Rika sighed as she took in a few deep breaths. She instantly felt better, but not by much. Her mind was still a mess, and Rika needed to grip something to return to reality.

“I gave you a straightforward task, and you even failed that? What the hell are we going to do with you in this state? Did you meet Emily Steinz in such a state, Rika? Have you done mad! Don’t you know what this will do for our company’s reputation?”

Darling blew up as soon as she saw Rika’s state.

The older omega looked baffled and agitated to see Rika in this bad condition. There was also mixed jealousy, but Rika could not unravel it.

For the first time, this omega’s complaints had a genuine backbone, but Rika could not hear them.

“Senior, can we do this later? I don’t feel so good right now. I think I am going to collapse.”

Rika complained, only for the older omega to grab her shoulder and shake her around.

“Rest! You want to rest during working hours! You’re getting far too bold, Rika. Now, could you come with me and get back to work? We have a long list to get finished today.”
