Someone was pouring cold water inside Rika’s mouth. It felt refreshing, and she wanted to gulp it down.

But her body felt warm and soft when she moved to clutch her source of relief.

Rika fought hard to open her eyes, but it was tough to manage this alone. Her body protested even the tiniest moments Rika made.

After an eternity, Rika finally opened her eyes and blinked at the familiar green eyes, looking back at her from a familiar face.

Not much time seemed to have passed, but it also felt like an eternity to Rika.

“How long was I asleep for this time? What about my work? Did they let me go just like that? There was a lot of work to be done-”

“Shut up and go back to sleep. It would be best if you rested, or you will burn yourself up. What the hell is wrong with you? It would be best to not play with your sleep schedule like this. The doctor said your body is in a sleep-deprived state. Rika, what am I going to do with you?

You worry me! It feels like I can’t leave you alone, or you will perish from my eyesight.”

Emily pushed her head to rest it against Rika’s shoulder. Her arms held Rika gently, but she could feel the strength behind that hold. Emily was not playing around with her.

But the most intense thing Rika felt was the presence of those fierce eyes looking at her very soul and judging her.

The doctor spoke of embarrassing things as if they were everyday occurrences.

The doctor did not make much fuss, but she left Rika with more questions and worries than before.

“Don’t take that doctor’s words to heart. It will be fine. You’ll be fine! You need to relax and do what you want to. Dami will be back by that time as well. We can spend your heat together if you want to.”
