Middle Child Syndrome - Chapter 253
Chapter 253: Ch253: A new plan
Everyone continued to work just as they had before Rika joined them. Even the demoted omega worked hard to regain her position.
But unlike everyone else, she had a purpose behind her actions. She needed to show just how capable she was, and once people realised that demoting her was a mistake, she would be given a raise and sent back to her place.
‘That useless manager refused to help me when I asked him for help. Tsk, how dare he do that after coming on to me so strongly in the past? Does he not have any shame?’
Amanda went to the section chief to clear her name and get his help. But all she got for her effort was a half-assed apology, a clear sign that showed her the mistake.
She had trusted the wrong person by selecting the section chief as a stepping stone.
‘I can do so much better! No, I will do much better soon. That man might have been useless for me now, but he was resourceful. Thanks to him, I learned we will have a management change soon.’
The plan was simple.
Amanda would make sure to cast a good impression on the new management and make her usefulness visible to them. That way, she would return to her position quickly and have someone influential in her corner.
More than half of Amanda’s awareness was concentrated on the door, and she waited for it to open so that her next boss (victim) would be visible first.
The door opened, and Amanda watched with baited breaths as the section chief entered the room.
He looked pale and flushed but also giddy, which made Amanda’s insides swell with delight. This was a prime opportunity for her to stand out.
*cough*
“Everyone, please pay attention to me! Our new boss is here with us, so I hope you all will be kind enough to show him cooperation. Young Alpha Goodwill will be taking over as the supervisor for the month.”
Those words made Amanda’s heart skin and beat faster.
Out of everyone, she had not expected her new superior to be Mark Goodwill. Whatever plans she had made to seduce her next boss flew out of the window as her body shivered in fear.
She could still feel this alpha’s angry stare looking at her and forcing Amanda to bow her head.
‘No! Don’t back down now, Amanda. You need to make it up and change his impression. He’s an alpha! No matter how much he is attached to his sister, Suzie, he will eventually fall for your charm!’
Amanda psyched herself up and stood a little taller to make herself stand out from the rest of the Alpha-beta cast.
Mark Goodwill’s eyes rested on her for a swift second, making Amanda’s heart skip a beat. But just as quickly as his head fenced over to her, he moved on and quickly glanced over the rest.
He seemed to be looking for something, and Amanda quickly noticed this.
“Is this everyone in your department? Are you sure you are not missing anyone?”
Mark asked with a frown in his voice. The poor section chief looked uncomfortable and also surprised at such a question.
He had not prepared himself to be asked such a question so directly, and he bit his lip to avoid sounding stupid.
“I…don’t think I am missing anyone. If you are looking for anyone specific, I can try to find them for you, boss. You just have to say the word.”
The section chief boasted in a beaming voice, but Mark did not hold back on his request.
“I was looking for your intern, Rika. Did she not come in today? I need to talk to her about what happened yesterday.”
Amanda flinched as soon as she heard those words. She also lowered her head so as not to stand out this time.
But the section chief had different plans for her and singled her out.
“Ah, that intern? I am sure she’s around, but you can just not see her. Amanda, be a dear and show our new boss around. This is a great opportunity, so make sure to do well.”
The section chief handed this responsibility to Amanda, and she knew he did this because Amanda had repeatedly asked her to help her make connections.

‘Shit! I did not want this connection when I asked you to help me.’
Amanda cursed inside her mind, but she remained calm outside.
“Everyone else, resume your work. Young Master, I hope you enjoy your time in our department. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to ask me. I will do my best to help you out.”
The section chief quickly exited, leaving Amanda alone with Mark Goodwill.
She felt nervous and opened her mouth to ask for forgiveness for what had happened the previous day, but Mark beat her to it.
“Just show me around, and don’t bother speaking much. I will let you know if I want to know more about something.”
Mark…did not seem to remember her or what happened yesterday. It made Amanda feel much better than before, and she also felt hopeful.
‘This is a chance! I can easily seduce him since Mark does not seem to remember me. Once I have him in my grasp, I can slowly try and bring him around. Yeah, this is what I will do now. Thank god, he does not remember what happened.’
Amanda felt better and lighter. Her spirit flirted back, and she beamed at the alpha before her.
She did not notice the flash of irritation that passed through Mark’s eyes as he stood still and waited for Amanda to get herself together.
‘This is annoying! I want to bury this foolish omega, but I must first see how Rika is doing. I will take care of this annoyance after I get to know this department better.’
Mark decided, but he regretted it more and more by the second. This omega was just too annoying for him to deal with.
