“-and this is where we work. I usually finish about half of our assigned work for the day, and then I-”

Mark tuned the omega out as she continued to speak and annoy him. He was somehow holding himself together, but he also felt the urge to reach out and grab this speaking mess by her throat and throttle her.

‘When will she stop speaking? Can’t she tell me how bored I am with listening to her chatter like this? I want her to stop speaking!’

Mark wanted to yell these words, but he had more experience handling himself than expected. He could keep his temper in check as he walked behind the omega.

Everyone looked at him with pity and concern when they saw him with this omega leading Mark around.

He understood that not many people liked this chattery omega, but they tolerated her presence and indulged her actions because she was an ‘omega’ they did not want to disrespect.

“That will be enough of the tour. I will find my way around myself from here. You can head back to work now.”

Mark was developing a slight headache, so he rubbed his temple and asked Amanda to return to her station.

The omega instantly bit her lip in a way that told Mark that she wanted to say something to him.

“Sir, there is one more place I would like to show you. I did not want to bring this topic up because I feared it would get my friend in trouble, but I think you should know about it. Please follow me.”

Amanda seemed to be trying to act as innocent as possible. She did everything, from making her eyes look more significant to her voice as low and sorrowful as possible.

But her pheromones gave away that this was all an act, and Mark wanted to call her out. He stopped before he did that because his instincts told him this was related to Rika.

Mark had not seen her around, and her question had been deflected a few times he had asked about her.

This was deliberate, and this omega kept him out of the loop.

She was trying to build up his curiosity to manipulate it to her liking.

‘What a foolish girl and her foolish tricks. Does she think this works? I guess I can play along for now.’

Mark sighed and showed interest in what Amanda was saying to him.

“Oh! It would be best if you had told me about something important first. Show me what you want, and I will decide what to do about it.”

Mark’s words made the omega smirk, but she quickly wiped the smirk off her face and led him toward the private offices in the back.

These cubicles were rarely used since this department did not have mid-level employees. There should be no one in here, yet Mark could hear the sound of keys being clicked.

“Just for the record, I tried to stop Rika from taking these office PC for herself, but she insisted and even threw a fit. She’s a rebellious intern, so I beg your pardon regarding her behaviour.”

The omega in front of Mark highlighted Rika’s bad points in a way that seemed like she was trying to help hide them.

But Mark was not foolish enough not to get the intent behind the words being spoken to him.

“Is that so? So, a new intern bullied your department into giving her a cubical PC, and you all agreed without even teaching her the job? Should I be concerned about the integrity of this department?”

Mark asked in a calm voice, but it had just enough hint of annoyance to make Amanda shiver in fright.

“N-No! It’s not like that, Alpha Mark. Our intern has some solid connections, so it’s hard for us to say anything to her. However, you don’t need to worry about it. We will somehow handle it on our own.”

Suzie tried to pretend she was making a sacrifice by talking to Rika, which made Mark’s blood boil.

His hands hurt as he tried to stop himself from reaching out and grabbing this omega’s head in a crushing grip. He wanted to show her why she should not be fuck around with him.

But all his thoughts left his mind once he saw Rika sitting inside that office cabin doing whatever she wanted.

She was not doing her work, and Mark was even sure she was playing games on the office PC.

It made him laugh inaudible, and his pheromones spiked a little bit.

That made both Rika and Amanda look at him at once.

“Are you playing games on the office PC during working hours, intern? Isn’t that a violation of your duties? Do you want to get punished?”

Mark asked teasingly, but it sounded harsh enough not to come across as joking.

Rika looked annoyed and hopeful at the same time when she looked at him.

“Yeah! I was playing games during working time. Can you fire me for this? I promise this will happen again if you let me keep working here.”

Rika confessed, and Amanda felt her jaw tighten. She could not believe what she had just heard, causing her insides to boil.

“Young master, please allow me to deal with Rika. As her senior in the department and as an employee of this company, I cannot allow anyone to take their work lightly. Please, allow me to handle this on my own.”

The omega looked at Mark with her begging eyes to try and make him feel powerless in front of her.

But Mark looked uninterested in what she had to say. He didn’t even look at Amanda when she tried to make herself the centre of attention.

Instead, he approached Rika and placed her arm behind her chair.

“Show me what game you are occupied with! If it is fun, I might start playing it as well. Can I add you as a friend if I play this game?”
