Chapter 255: Ch 255: I’m not here for bullshit
Rika was having less fun than usual while playing games. Something was missing, and her eyes kept going to the ‘coop’ screen on which she was playing.
Maybe it was because she played during office hours, but the people Rika kept running into were all new players or those with little skill. This frustrated her, and she decided to close the game.
Before she could do such a thing, the door to her cabin opened, and Mark entered it.
Rika had half a mind to ignore them both when Mark decided to show Rika his affection and place his arm around her chair.
He was instantly rewarded with a glare as Rika tried to make him back away and give her personal space.
However, the more she disapproved, the more Mark pretended he did not see her apparent signs.
In the end, all Rika could sigh as she allowed Mark to do whatever he wanted.
“Sir! Please don’t encourage this kind of behaviour! I know you are young and want to have fun, but you must discourage such behaviour in the company! Playing on the company server and during working hours will cause a lot of chaos.”
Amanda quickly pointed out what Rika had done wrong and even looked proud of herself.
She did not notice how Mark and Rika looked at her.
Rika was also getting annoyed with Amanda’s constant jabs. And this time, she was not going to hold back her bite.
“Senior, you ‘forgot’ to give me any work or show me how to do anything. Since I had nothing to do, I installed a game to pass my time. If you are worried about security, then don’t be! I disconnected the LAN before I downloaded my game on WIFI.”
Rika assured her senior about the precautions she had taken, but each word she said made her senior seethe in rage.
“This is not the important part, and you know it! Again, I apologise for our intern’s carelessness, Young Master. I will surely train her to-”
“So, how do you play this game? Rika, are you ignoring me? It would be best if you did not do that, or I might do something drastic. At this rate, I might assign you as my PA.”
“I’ll quit the second you do that. Also, stop wasting time by hanging around me. Do something productive if you have this much time on your hands. Isn’t Suzie waiting for you back home?”
Rika looked at her brother with an annoyed look. She had no idea what had gotten into him that day. He was annoying Rika and forcing himself into her personal space.
In other words, Mark was one step away from the world of pain Rika was about to unleash on him.
She even signalled the omega in front of her to snatch her brother away before Rika snapped. But that stupid idiot was not getting anything even when Rika tried to tell her what she wanted.
‘Ugh, calm down! Mark will lose interest in me soon. He’s too busy to stay here and annoy me constantly.’
That was what Rika hoped would happen. But Mark surprised her by not leaving her alone. He even opened another PC in the office to play with her.
It was a …relaxing time for Rika. She could not remember the last time she had spent such quality time with Mark.
But despite this calmness, Rika could not help but feel suspicious of what would come.
The rumour about what happened spread across the office like wildfire.
People began to make mountains out of molehills, and it did not take long before the innocent rumour took on a nasty tone and vibe.
By the time Rika got off work, all anyone could talk about was how she was two-timing the two Goodwill alphas and how much of a gold digger Rika was.
Rika did not bother addressing any rumours about her. She was sure they would blow over soon anyway, so she did not need to be stressed about them…or so she thought.
But Rika was proven wrong the following day when she arrived at work.
The looks she was getting were even more intense than before. And now, people even pointed toward her and made gestures Rika did not feel comfortable looking at.
People snickered when Rika walked past them and even headed toward the cabin she had been assigned to the previous day.

The door was locked, and Rika felt dumbfounded. She felt like she was part of a well-elaborated prank and the centre of said prank.
“Oops, looks like the door to this cabin is locked. But don’t worry, Rika. Come with me, and I will show you the new working station.”
One of Rika’s coworkers looked at her sympathetically as he led her to her new seat.
It was out in the open, and the chair looked like it would collapse any second. The desk looked fragile, and Rika instantly asked if she could get a new work desk.
The alpha who showed Rika her new table looked annoyed at her constant complaining, but he held his temper well when he replied.
“I am afraid that all the other workstations are occupied now. But you can make this work, right? Someone like you would do anything to stay anyway, so this should not be a problem.”
The alpha was trying to insult Rika. She was surer about it than anything else.
But this passive-aggressiveness only annoyed Rika even more at not knowing what was happening.
She was sure everything was related to her interaction with Mark the previous day, but Rika could not determine the root cause of these rumours.
*Sigh*
“This is too early in the morning, and I cannot handle it. I will see you all later! Since there is nothing to do here, I might as well head back home and sleep some more.”
Rika picked up her bag and stood up. This confused everyone, mainly because they had not expected Rika to give up so easily.
