Chapter 260: Ch 260: Confirming the rumour
“It is rare for you to come to my office with me. Did something happen? Did Suzie say anything to you to make you want to leave home for a while? Is everything alright?”
Natasha Goodwill’s eyes were filled with concern as she looked at her husband, unable to shake off the feeling of unease.
His sudden desire to accompany her to work was a surprise, a departure from his usual routine, and it left Natasha feeling more concerned than happy.
It was a surprise because this was the first time her husband had made such a request, but Natasha felt more concerned than happy at his decision to accompany her.
He had not told Natasha anything out of his mouth, but Natasha’s secretary was kind enough to talk to her about the rumours surrounding her and the new intern.
It had left Natasha baffled, and she could not help but laugh.
The secretary’s serious expression contrasted with Natasha’s laughter, making it clear that this was no laughing matter.
But once Natasha knew what was bugging her husband, she could not help but want to tease him even more. It was just too much fun to torment her worried husband since the situation was not anything dire.
“So, are you not going to tell me why you wanted to come to work with me? If you remain pretty like this, it will make me believe you don’t trust me. Surely, that is not the case.”
Natasha asked worriedly, causing her husband to jump up and look back at her with a guilty look.
“That’s not it, Natasha! I don’t doubt you even a little. B-But I am worried about the poor person who fell for you. Don’t you think they must be set straight before their feelings develop? I want to help out.”
Her husband tried to justify his presence vaguely. He did not want to admit that he felt jealous over Natasha’s attention being directed to someone else.
This was the first time something like this happened in years, and Natasha wanted to milk it more.
“Oh! So, you pity this ‘person’ who has a crush on me? My! What a cruel thing for my love to do. If you give them such a harsh glare, you will break someone’s heart.”
Natasha teased, and her husband became tense with her words.
It did not take him long to turn red before he stuttered his words.
“I-I am just trying to look out for you. Stop teasing me, Natasha. This is not a laughing matter.”
Her husband continued arguing with Natasha, and his face looked angry and annoyed.
Natasha would have teased her husband more, but her door was knocked, and Mark entered the room.
He looked surprised to see his father in the room, but he quickly shrugged his uneasiness and looked at his mother.
“The new intern is here. Should I call her in? It seems like you are busy. If you are, then I can keep her entertained.”
Mark’s words were ambiguous enough not to give away the identity of their intern, and it made Natasha feel even more amused.
She could tell that her husband was considering this interaction, and he looked annoyed to see Mark getting along with the intern.
“Hmm, you can send my ‘intern’ in now. I’m not busy enough to not make room for her.”
Natasha assured, and her husband almost busted out into flames after what he heard coming out of his wife’s mouth.
His expression looked bad enough for even Mark to step back and blink. But the younger alpha quickly recovered and opened the door.
“Alright! They say you can come in now. Father is also here, so you can meet him…where are you running toward? Just come back here.”
Mark went out to chase after the intern.
Everything that happened made Natasha’s husband increasingly jealous. He wanted to tear apart the freak who threatened to come between him and his wife.
‘That bitch! How dare she try to take my wife and son away from me? Let me see the face of that greedy bitch-‘

All thoughts of tearing his opponent apart leave his mind when Rika enters the room.
She looked annoyed, pissed, and exhausted. She had one of Mark’s arms around her shoulder, holding her captive and not allowing her to leave.
She did not want to be here and was forced to be here anyway.
“So, Rika, how is your internship going? Are you having fun? How is the staff treating you?
Natasha asked in an almost teasing tone, and it finally clicked inside the omega’s mind why his wife did not seem concerned about the identity of her intern.
It also made sense why his wife did not bother correcting the rumours before they reached his ears.
“Mother, you should not have called me into your office for something like. I’m not dumb enough to believe you don’t know what people discuss today. It will be best if we keep our distance for the time being.
The same goes for you, Mark. Your presence around me is disturbing my everyday life.”
Rika sounded stressed, and the omega blinked at her in shock.
He had never heard Rika talk this much before, but it was likely because he never bothered to spend time with her.
The Omega did not even know Rika could get angry or annoyed like this. But the more he watched her, the more surprised he became by her.
“Come on, Rika. There is no need to get angry or annoyed like this. You know that I don’t care about the rumours and such stuff. It will all blow out soon enough.”
Mark promised in a teasing but assuring voice, but Rika only rubbed her forehead to relieve the incoming headache she was about to feel.
“That is not the problem here, Mark! And even if you don’t feel annoyed by it all, I do. So please back away before I forcefully make you back away.”
