Chapter 265: Ch 235: Checking the Powder
The troublesome section was cleared out, and a checking team was sent to clean the area before the powder could affect anyone.
Despite the immediate response, Rika was deeply troubled by the potential harm that could have occurred.
These pranks on her were going beyond pranks now. This could have seriously hurt someone, and this case could have been elevated to a new height.
Rika could only watch in frustration as her things were confiscated because of what happened, but she remained calm and did not say much about punishment or whom she suspected to be the culprit.
But how could people wait for a decision when they have a perfect excuse to use against Rika?
It did not take Amanda long to gather a small crowd and corner Rika while Mark was busy with the investigation.
“Hey, this was all your plan, right? You did this to bring all the attention toward yourself. Just how big of an attention whore are you? You even got Alpha Goodwill saying weird things about you both being siblings. Does that even make sense? Goodwill is famous, so if you were related to Alpha Mark, we all would know about it.”
The omega continued to boast while maintaining an arrogant attitude. Although her eyes looked conflicted, her confidence was commendable.
She denied Mark’s claim in front of almost all the staff while attracting all the attention.
That was fine with Rika since it took the edge of expectation off her shoulder. But she was unsure if Amanda could handle the consequences of slandering Mark’s words.
“You’re just saying all this because you are jealous and cannot be like Rika. You know, I’ve seen a lot of bitches during my time, but you are certainly in a league of your own. You need to be dealt with a dose of reality to bring you back down.”
Rika was surprised to hear Luna talk in her defense.
Luna did not look like someone who liked to interfere in other’s cases, but that was what happened here.
Even Amanda looked taken aback and did not know what to say about what had happened.
But Amanda was not finished leveling her blows.
“Whatever relationship Mark and Rika choose to have been their problem. As far as I know, neither Mark nor Rika have any prior engagements they must respect. Who are we to tell them what relationship they can and cannot have?
Miss Amanda, what gives you the right to decide how someone else lives or not? You aren’t even related to any of them in any way.”
Luna asked, and her words seemed to press Amanda to back down.
Rika noticed how the omega felt uncomfortable enough to step back because of all the pressure she was feeling.
Amanda was not the only one who stepped back after hearing Luna speak.
Many other people who harbored the same doubts as Amanda also stepped back and decided not to interfere.
That was how Rika’s identity was secured.
“Tsk, just because you are daddy’s girl, don’t think you will remain safe forever. You better watch your back from here on, or you will suffer the consequences.”
Amanda warned before she stalked away.
Had it been anyone else, Rika would have felt afraid and taken measures. But Amanda was full of hot air and nothing else.
There was no way she would have the guts to try anything with so many eyes looking over her every move.
Rika was safe for now, and she felt grateful to Amanda for taking her side.
“Thank you for standing up for me. You did not have to do anything to help me, but you did so anyway.”
Rika thanked Amanda, trying hard not to make it cringy or annoying for Amanda to hear.
The older beta turned toward Rika with a calm look of understanding on her face.

“Don’t worry about it. Beta must stick together during these times, or things can get ugly. Both you and I are blessed with our family names, so we should use them as our power when the time calls for it.”
Amanda seemed used to using her family name as a weapon, but for Rika, it felt awkward. Especially since she wanted to leave her family behind, Rika tried her best not to be associated with this name.
“She’s right, Rika. I know you are disappointed in us and don’t want to stay with us for long, but you should use our name whenever necessary. For today, you should also go home.
I will have the police investigate what happened here and file a public complaint. Here, they managed to retrieve your phone and wallet. You should contact me if anything happens.”
Mark proposed to Rika before he left to sort out this mess.
Rika felt thankful for Mark’s help but was irritated that he helped simultaneously.
But she felt more relieved than anything.
The news of Mark’s words started to spread around the office at lightning speed. Rika decided to head home, the looks of scorn and hate turned into suspicion and probing.
She could feel all the gazes sinking into her head, and Rika could not help but feel annoyed.
But unlike before, none of these gazes became openly hostile to the point of making Rika fear for her life.
“I should just ignore this all and do what I have to. This will all blow out as time passes. I don’t need to be worried about anything.”
Rika sighed and went home. She was finally over this stressful day, and all Rika wanted to do was fall asleep.
Her head had not even hit the pillow when her phone rang, but she picked it up without looking at the caller ID.
“Who is calling me, and what do you want?”
Rika’s voice was neutral, so she did not think she could offend the person on the other side. But she did not expect her caller to chuckle at Rika’s expanse and greet her in that familiar tone.
“Did you finally decide to drop all the formalities with me, Rika Goodwill? Seeing you being open with me like this makes me happy.”
