Chapter 268: Ch 238: Your mother’s intentions
“Suzie, are you sure you are feeling alright? If you feel sick, we can take you to a doctor or something. You don’t have to suffer in silence like this.”

Her father reached out to touch Suzie’s face, but she quickly pulled back and bit her lip in agitation.

This had not gone according to plan, and Suzie felt foolish to believe things would go as she had hoped.

‘Tsk, wasn’t there news of Mother’s affair all around the office? Then why doesn’t Father look more troubled than this? He should be too disappointed to think much and easier to mold to my liking.’

Suzie was annoyed on the inside, but she only showed a happy and content smile on the outside.

“No! Nothing is wrong with me, father. I just heard a few things about my mother and her job, which worried me a bit! But don’t worry! I have sorted out my feelings, so you don’t need to worry about anything.”

Suzie assured her father while showing a half-pained smile to him.

This look always got to the older omega, which was the same this time. Her father’s expression softened, and he quickly sighed while looking at Suzie.

“You don’t need to worry about your mother and the rumor about her affair. That is all bullshit, anyway. That ‘intern’ everyone kept talking about turned out to be Rika. Your mother has been working in the company for about a month, but you know how Natasha is.”

Her father likely said this to reassure Suzie not to be worried, but it made Suzie’s blood turn cold.

First, Suzie did not expect the rumor to be true. She had been sure that her mother had not gotten any new inter.

But it turned out Suzie was wrong about it.

‘Rika! Why Rika! Why would Mother put Rika in her company? It’s a good thing Mother put her as a low-level intern and not as a future successor since that is my position! But I cannot allow this to keep happening.’

Suzie looked at her father with tear-filled begging eyes.

“Daddy, this is not fair! Mark and Rika are involved with company work while I am at home. I want to work as well.”

Suzie begged her father, knowing fully well that he was a sucker for her tears.

Just as she expected, her father made an uncomfortable face before he looked away. That usually meant that Suzie had won.

“Ah, I don’t know about this one, Suzie. Mark is working in the company because he needs to head the underworld one day, and he needs connections in the company to make it happen. As for Rika…

Please don’t be angry that I told you this, but your mother wants Rika to head the company and replace her once she retires. You will not have to worry about any heavy responsibility from here on. Isn’t that a good thing for you?”

When Suzie heard the news, her words took a 180-degree turn. She could not believe her ears and tried her hardest to keep her calm.

But no matter what she did, her emotions continued to overwhelm her, and Suzie felt like she would cry any second.

“Ah, I know it is a lot to take in, but you always told me you were worried about Rika and her future, right? Now, you don’t need to be worried anymore. Aren’t you happy about this, Suzie?”

There were no words to describe all Suzie’s feelings at that moment. But she did realize that her predominant feeling was rage, followed by annoyance and rejection.

‘Rika! That bitch is taking what is mine! I cannot allow her to do this to me! I worked so hard to get here. There is no way I will allow Rika to steal it all away from me.’

Suzie complained as she locked her arms around her father’s neck and looked at him with huge eyes.

“You are going to give the company to Rika? But you promised me that I would become the head of the company when I grow up. Father, did you lie to me all this time?”

Suzie asked in a crying voice. It weakened her father’s heart, and he decided to stop what he was doing to Suzie.

“Calm down, sweetheart. I did not lie to you! As much as I would like to fulfill my promise to you, this is your mother’s decision since this is her company. I don’t want to undermine her power by suggesting anything different.

Besides, you have a lot more options than Rika does. If you want a rich husband who cares for you, I will help you. You don’t have to worry about your future like this.”

Suzie rolled her eyes as she remained calm in her father’s embrace.

‘Tsk, what I want is power! How will marriage help me achieve my power? In the end, it will all belong to my alpha anyway. Not that father will understand it.’

Suzie felt frustrated, but she kept calm and accepted her father for how he was. That was the only way Suzie could keep her frustration in check and not explode.

“Don’t worry too much, Suzie. You have a lot of options because you are an omega. One day, you will meet someone who will like you and sweep you off your feet. You will see a new world you will like!”

Her father promised Suzie, but she knew she would never feel satisfied with an alpha she did not choose.

Suzie might be an omega, but she had standards and was selfish. She had hopes and dreams beyond what her father or others wanted from her.

‘Just grin and bear with it for now. I should consider it lucky that Father told me about Mother’s intentions before everything went through. I still have time to control damage and take over the company before Mother forces Rika to do it.’

Suzie had a few ways to achieve this, and she was ready to try them all if they did not work.
