Chapter 279: Ch 279: Take me home
‘Shit! What the heck is wrong with that car? Does it want to crash into me or something? I need to avoid it at all costs.’

Emily watched the car speeding toward her, but she hit the brakes in time for the car to go past her and crash into the side pole.

Many people gathered to see what had happened, and even Emily got out of her car to check on it.

That was her lucky action because her car burst into flames just seconds later.

“Shit! An assassination attempt in broad daylight? I should report this to the police and get to the bottom of this case. But that would mean I cannot reach Rika on time.”

Emily complained as she watched her car burn away.

It was a stroke of luck when Emily decided to leave her assistant behind and come here all alone. It meant that there were no casualties Emily needed to worry about.

“My phone was in there. I won’t be able to call Rika on the whole. Thankfully, I also installed the tracking app on my backup phone.”

Emily’s red hair looked even redder as she stood before the burning vehicle and took out her second private phone from her pocket.

Unlike her work phone, this one only had five numbers. But that was more than enough for Emily. She did not need a lot of people in her life.

She quickly dialed her secretary’s number and asked her to send a new car for Emily to get to her destination.

Rika did not move much from her initial position when this happened. She was still shopping for goods when Emily found her.

Andrew Tweten was with her, but he kept his distance from Rika and Emily once he saw her.

“Emily, what are you doing here? I thought you were too busy to meet me these days-”

The female alpha reached out and tugged Rika toward her chest while glaring at Andrew simultaneously.

She warned the other alpha to mind his business and not go after the person Emily chose as her mate.

“Emily Steinz, what are you doing here? Weren’t you in just an accident? All news portals are going wild with what happened earlier. Shouldn’t you be out there aiding their investigation?”

Andrew asked, and Rika immediately looked worried about Emily.

Emily felt a small hand grabbing her face before facing Rika’s soft, worried eyes.

“You were in an accident? What happened? Are you alright? Does anything hurt? Do you need to go to the doctor?”

Rika asked these questions quickly while unconsciously pressing her body against Emily’s.

It provoked Emily’s inner alpha, and holding back was getting more demanding and challenging.

‘No! I need to calm down and not get a boner here. I need to keep myself in check. This is no place to fuck Rika as much as I want to.

Despite Emily’s best behavior, her body did not want to listen to her and continued to react. Her pheromones became heavier and overbearing, causing Rika to gasp and quiver against Emily’s body.

“I feel fine. I managed to get out of my car in time before it exploded. I don’t think anyone was injured after what happened.”

Andrew’s expression told Emily he had not yet been privy to that information. But Emily did not mind telling Andrew this.

Especially when it made her omega cling to her and warp Emily up in her arms.

“Are you alright? Does it hurt? Andrew, I think we should end our outing today. I’ll take Emily to the hospital and have her checked out. I will see you tomorrow.”

Rika promised the older male, but he looked taken aback.

Emily subtly warped her arm around Rika’s middle and rested more of her weight against Rika’s side to make the omega pay attention to her.

Andrew’s knowing gaze told Emily that he knew what she was doing and did not like it.

But he would also not comment on it since Rika looked worried about Emily. Anything he said or did here would make Rika disappointed in him.

“I don’t think Steinz needs a doctor. She needs to rest more than anything else. So how about we leave her alone to head home while we finish what we were doing?”

Andrew proposed, and he could see Rika wavering at the decision.

But Emily had to interrupt him and make herself be heard by the omega she was clinging to.

“No! I don’t want to be separated from Rika right now; it was scary, coming that close to death and getting out alive. I don’t want to be separated from you. Please, stay with me, Rika.”

Emily begged Rika, and her eyes looked a little moist.

Rika noticed how the reporters swarmed around them to take photos of Emily, Rika, and Andrew.

It would be a miracle if they did not end up on the cover of a newspaper.

‘Ah, but I am sure Andrew and Emily will handle this situation themselves. I should not be worried about them.’

Emily had stopped worrying about things such as reporters and being spied on.

“I think I will take Emily home now. We can pick up where we left off later. You should also rest for the remainder of the day. Have a nice evening.”

Andrew did not look happy with this decision but did not object anymore. He just sighed and decided to embrace his destiny of being left behind.

“Fine! But do contact me once you reach home. I want to know that you are safe and sound.”

The man quickly walked off, and Rika sighed in relief. She helped Emily toward her car and helped her in.

Once they were all safe and alone, Rika decided to call Emily out on her acting.

“You don’t have to stick so close to me anymore, Emily. We are out of danger, and no one is left here to act for.”

Rika informed the alpha, but all she received in return was a groan and a pained moan. The thick pheromones in the air finally made Rika’s body react, and she suddenly knew why Emily was so clingy to her.

“You-! You got hard hugging me.”
