Chapter 287: Ch 287: A little help is needed
Dawn had a good life ever since she had been born.
Coming from a middle-class beta family, Dawn’s omega presentation was a complete surprise. Her family, in response, treated her like a princess.
She was a beautiful girl that her family and friends loved. She was even asked out quite often because of her beauty and being an omega.
It was safe to say that Dawn had never faced any backsets.
Her joining this gang was no different.
One day, Dawn was walking around when she got into trouble with some gang members who were hitting on her.
That was when her current comrades had saved her, and Dawn had joined them all on their turf.
Dawn had not believed her luck to see how quickly these people became protective of her. It did not feel natural, but Dawn never questioned it.
Even though she could tell that these people did not see ‘Dawn’ but someone else, it was okay with Dawn when they looked at her. She was still being loved and protected by these super-powerful people.
Besides, with how these people reacted to some things, Dawn had assured herself that the person she was competing with was dead.
It helped Dawn cope with her emotions and delusions about her position in this palace and what she meant for these people.
‘A dead comrade! Don’t bullshit me! That beta standing down there looks like me! Who the heck is she, and why did she come here? Don’t tell me! She’s here to take my place! I will not let her do that.’
Dawn felt like she had found a place in this gang and refused to let anyone take her place.
No wanna-be would be able to replace her and become an executive.
“Hey, I asked you who you are and what you want. Did you not hear me?”
Dawn asked the question, but she was instantly met with Shamal’s glare. It was the first time she had felt such an intimidating look thrown her way.
Shamal looked angry, and Dawn immediately looked around for help. But no one else seemed to be paying attention to her.
They all looked at the new addition in the room with a fascinating new addition in the room.
“Tsk, I leave for three years, and you all make this place a mess. Would someone mind telling me how and when did this happen? I don’t have much time, so you better make this quick.”
The female threatened everyone around. Dawn flinched in shock and worry.
Dawn watched this happen with an angry expression on her face. She did not find what was happening to be fair.
‘How dare this bitch come here and sprout all this bullshit? It seems that she needs to be knocked down a peg or two. I will have to be the one to do that since everyone else looks too startled to do that.’
With her mind made, Dawn quickly pushed herself back to her feet and glared at Rika.
“You sure are a daring one. You are in the middle of our hideout and still want to sprout nonsense. Do you not care what happens to your life-”
“Dawn shut up and don’t speak. Another rude word will force us to push you out of the room. If you can’t behave normally, you don’t deserve to sit in the discussion.”
The speaker was Pheone, the alpha whom Dawn had a crush on forever.
Pheone was everything Dawn wanted in an alpha. She was beautiful, tall, and powerful. Her pheromones also smelled terrific, making Dawon melt whenever she smelled them.
But for the first time, those calming and sweet pheromones felt sharp and dangerous. They pressed Dawn down and flared in a threatening manner.
Dawn felt like she would pass out as this continued. This did not feel fair or healthy for her. She could not even understand why she was being treated this way.
“Pheone, you need to calm down. You will make that poor child pass out if you continue her this hard.”

The unknown person who looked like Dawn spoke to Pheone. But even more worrying was that Pheone listened to the person and decided to back down.
Dawn could suddenly breathe again, clutching her throat to get the air back inside her lungs.
She coughed to open her airways back up, but that did not mean that Dawn appreciated what had happened.
‘What the heck is happening here? Did Pheone press me this hard just because I asked a simple question to a stranger? This feels so unfair, and it is all her fault.’
Dawn had a perfect life up until now, but the sudden appearance of this stranger felt like Dawn’s world was breaking apart.
But the male executive spoke before Dawn could start making heads or tails of what was happening.
“Boss! Are you back? Is this some kind of dream? I thought you said you were not interested in returning if you ever left! Did you miss us all that much?”
Shuric asked in a joyful voice. His happiness was mirrored by everyone in the room except Dawn.
The beta in question looked uncaring and dismissive.
“It was not my intention to come back, but circumstances made me return for now. You don’t need to worry about all that. I will also leave soon so you can return to what you were doing.
But if you need any help, do tell me. I will do my best to help you however I can.”
The beta promised, and everyone suddenly looked relieved. They could finally ask for help against a problem they were facing.
“There is something we want your help with, boss. There was an accident recently, and our gang ended up against some tough opponents we cannot face alone. Do you think you can help us out?”
Shamal asked the question without flinching, but Dawn felt guilty for what was happening.
The reason the fight had broken out with the other gang was all her fault. If Dawn had been careful, all this would have been potentially avoided…so that was what Dawn felt about this situation.
