Middle Child Syndrome - Chapter 291
Chapter 291: Ch 291: Facing a monster
The Rodric family’s base was bustling with people, a testament to their significant influence and power. Rika could see why it was so densely populated.
The Rodric family had the highest underground presence of the four families, but their presence on the legal side was minimal.
It also attracted most people to gravitate toward this powerful family and give it much power.
From what Rika knew about their traditions, the most potent alpha in each generation was made the family head. This time, Damian was chosen because he was dominant and much stronger than an average alpha.
Rika knew the fastest way to handle this situation was to talk to Damian and let him handle the case. But she did not want to rely on Damian for everything. She wanted to finish this case before Damian heard about it.
Ironically, the person Rika was trying to steer clear of was the first one she encountered upon entering the Rodric case.
And to think that it all happened because of a small brawl is not even worth mentioning.
“Excuse me, Miss! But you cannot walk in here as you please. If you have an appointment, then come at the appointed time.”
When Rika walked into the building with the executives, she was stopped by a young-looking goon.
The young alpha looked full of himself and naive to the point of embarrassment. He also looked bashful and struck a pose that made him look more intimidating.
He also sprouted reckless words, almost as if he were Damian’s secretary, making it hard for Rika to hold her laugh back.
She did not want to laugh aloud but could not control herself. A few chuckles escaped Rika’s lips, and the young alpha looked even madder.
“What’s your problem? What the heck are you laughing at? Tsk, you are as bad as the bitch we captured this evening. None of you have manners. Now that I think about it, wasn’t she from your gang?”
The goon spoke rudely but talked about Dawn when he told the group about this.
Rika made a mental note of confirmation when she heard those words.
“So, you people did kidnap Dawn! Let her go right now, or we will be forced to get her back by any means necessary.”
Henry yelled, causing the young alphas filling this place to laugh in amusement. It irked the older alpha, and it was a miracle that he did not attack the people in front of him.
“Ohhh, I am so scared of you and your lack of people…. Listen here, you punk! Your girl provoked us first, and we are only retaliating in kind. If you want to blame someone, blame your girl for what she did.”
The young alpha taunted back, and Henry lost control of himself. He would have attacked the young alpha, and the situation worsened when Rika placed herself between the two beefing alphas.
This way, they would both need to pass her to hit the other. And Rika was confident that she could stop them from fighting.
“Tsk, you got lucky this time. If not for my boss, I would have killed you off by now.”
Henry spoke with all bark and no bite.
Rika did not doubt that he would try to do exactly what he said he would—kill the other side. But they also had to consider that they were in enemy territory.
“I got lucky? Are you sure you are not talking about yourself here? After all, the one hiding behind the shadow of a beta is you, not me. I would rather die than to-”
Rika decided she had listened enough. She was going to punch this arrogant alpha if he kept this up.
If worse came to worse, Damian could pick up the pace and clean up after Rika. Given the situation, that was the least he could do for her.
Rika’s fist connected with the alpha before her, sending him flying.
Everyone gasped as they watched this happen. They were all impressed with Rika’s strength and petite body.
Rika had not hit the other alpha hard enough to knock him out or do any permanent damage. This was just a warning hit to make him back down.
But that did not mean that Alpha was not going to fight back. He was going to dish out just as much as he got.

“You little bitch! Who do you think you are to attack me like this? I will kill you right now-”
The man ran toward Rika to punch her. But his hand was grabbed halfway through, and he never reached Rika.
A loud gasp was heard all around the room before the alpha went flying for a second time. But this time, he did not get up and lost consciousness.
No one paid attention to the unconscious male. They were all too busy looking at Damian Rodric to do anything else.
“Oh shit! That demon is here. We chose the worst day to come here. Should we try begging him? Will that even work?”
Shuric asked in a terrified voice. No one moved, and no one breathed out loudly. They all knew that it would mean a death sentence if they did either of these.
The only one who did anything was Rika. She took a step toward Damian and then another,
“Boss, stay still! I know you are brave, but this is a monster in his league. You should not try to engage with him…”
Shamal warned, and Pheone even reached for Rika to try and stop her,
But no one could grab Rika before she reached Damian and placed a hand on his shoulder.
“Oh fuck! We are all dead.”
Someone whispered as they watched Rika smile softly before she tugged Damian down so that he was at level with her mouth. Her hands in his hair caused people to almost faint on the spot.
Rika could tell that her party was ready to pull her back at any given second, but she did not need all that help. Especially not with the curious way Damian was looking at her.
