Middle Child Syndrome - Chapter 305
Chapter 305: Ch 305: Your curse
Mark knew that Emily Steinz was right. He was making a scene, and his mother had warned him not to do something like that.
Besides, he could tell Rika was not in the mood to talk to him, and leaving her alone would be the best.
However, Mark did not want to do that. He felt alienated from Rika, and he tried to reconcile. But time, it seemed, was not on his side. It felt like it was slipping from his hands whenever he tried to get close to Rika, adding an urgent tone to his efforts.
Mark tried to approach Rika, but she pulled back. This has happened repeatedly since Rika left home.
That was why Mark tried to subdue Emily Steinz when she asked him to calm down. He did not want that younger alpha to tell Mark what to do.
His pheromones tried to mute out Emily’s in the room, but Damian Rodric was quick to put an end to all his attempts to do that.
The dominant alpha controlled the situation, and everyone realized it quickly.
An awkward silence fell across the room where no one knew how to start the conversation. The atmosphere felt too tense to do anything but stay on guard around each other.
Finally, the one who broke through such a situation was the last person anyone expected to step forward.
“Alpha Rodric, congratulations on finally passing all the trials and succeeding the Rodric family. I heard you are one of the youngest alphas to do so. I am sure this calls for cheers.”
Rocxx held his drink up in a cheering pose as he looked at Damian and Emily’s side.
Mark had to give it to Rocxx. That alpha was brave enough to walk inside the lion’s den on his own accord and even offer himself up for chewing.
He picked up a glass and held it toward the alpha before him.
Mark did not show any emotions on his face, but that did not stop Andrew from clicking a glass in his favor.
That finally broke the stalemate everyone was under, and people could breathe easier in that tense atmosphere.
Emily took the peace offering Rocxx was trying to offer, which lightened the atmosphere much more than anyone expected.
“Well, I technically took office earlier than Damian did. Does that make me the amazing one? I knew my cousin had an eye for talent and a silver tongue.”
Emily’s smile looked friendly, but her easy-going smile fooled no one. She was a devil that was waiting to engulf anyone who opposed her.
But Rocxx was not her enemy, and he quickly let her know this by remaining neutral in the conversation.
“Of course! How could I ever not hold you all in high regard? You all are so young and talented. How about we have a toast about your success?”
The atmosphere was still tense, but it was getting better. It was also getting easier to breathe, and Rika started to relax.
…
‘Suzie is glaring at me. Surprisingly, it does not feel as bad as it used to in the past.’
Rika looked at Suzie’s glare with a look of indifference. It made the younger omega even madder, and she clutched Rocxx’s arm tightly.
Mark had already positioned himself beside Rika, and Suzie seemed to have no intention of heading toward her.
Everyone looked at Rika with keen interest. She was the only unknown factor among the elites of this place.
People were waiting for her to make a mistake and be left alone for the picking. But Rika had no intention of making things easy for these people.
That said, even Rika could not control some things, including her body.
She needed to head to the washroom, but no one else wanted to break the stalemate brewing around the hallway.
Rika tugged at Andrew’s clothes and told him she would be back.

The older alpha looked torn between heading out with Rika, staying in place, and maintaining his position.
Since this was important to Andrew, Rika decided to assure him that she would be fine, and she headed out.
But Andrew still did not look satisfied.
That was when Suzie decided to interfere and detach herself from Rocxx’s side.
She was smooth as she slid her arm around Rika’s and gave everyone a confident smile.
“I will head out with Rika and accompany her. This is her first time here, and I don’t want her to get lost in this huge place. You all! Please continue to talk things out. We will be back soon.”
Suzie was too smooth with her moves. Rika did not even realize she was being dragged away until she left the hall and headed toward the bathroom.
Her younger sister did an excellent job of suppressing her emotions the whole she was in the public eye.
But as soon as she was alone, she dropped her mask and pushed Rika toward the wall.
Despite being young and an omega, Suzie was stronger and taller than Rika. Pushing Rika into the wall and caging her inside was easy enough for her.
“Suzie, what are you doing? We don’t have time to be playing around like this. If you don’t have anything to talk about, then I will be heading back-”
Rika threatened, but Suzie was much faster than her this time. The power of anger and disappointment fueled Suzie’s body, and she looked at Rika angrily.
“This is all your fault! If not for you, I would not have been humiliated like this! Things started to go wrong ever since you left home. Just what the hell did you do? Did you cast a curse on us all?”
Suzie asked in an angry voice. None of what she said made sense, and Rika shook her head disappointedly after seeing Suzie’s behavior.
She was not acting rationally, and it felt like she had lost her mind.
“I don’t know what you are talking about, Suzie. Didn’t you tell me repeatedly that you wanted me to leave your family alone? I granted your wish for you.”
