Chapter 314: Ch 314: Ease up on the pressure
Rika took a step back, but she did not even see what happened next. She only knew that her face was being grabbed by a strong hand before the older man turned her face around and had a good look at her.

“You look like that old lady of the Goodwill family! As far as I remember, she was a fierce little omega who could make anyone tremble. Do you smell like her as well-”

The older man tried to sniff Rika, but her reflexes kicked in.

Rika did not mean to attack the old man, but her body decided to protect itself from the incoming attack.

The old man looked slightly startled when Rika tried to kick him, but he held Rika’s leg and looked at her calmly.

“You are even as fierce as she was. Say, kid! What is your name? I am sure you are somehow related to the Goodwill’s, but you are not their omega kid. As far as I remember, she was blond. Ah, didn’t that brat Natasha have a middle daughter? So that’s you.

You must be Rika Goodwill!”

The older man figured out Rika’s identity, but she was more shocked that an old man like him could move this fast.

Rika never stood a chance in front of such power, so she gave up her attack and decided to regain her distance from the man in front of her.

That had been the plan, but the older alpha had a tight grip on Rika’s leg. He had her tumbling down within seconds, and Rika could do nothing to take care of it.

“You’re well-trained as well. Say, what do you say about joining me in the Triads? I will make a place for you where you can be yourself. I don’t think it is such a bad deal for you.”

The old man asked while extending his hand toward Rika. he sounded severe about scouting Rika out to join his gang.

Rika’s first instinct was to yell out ‘no.’ She wanted nothing to do with the underworld and the dark side of the world. She was content to be where she was.

But somehow, the older man seemed to realize what Rika was thinking before she opened her mouth.

“Don’t speak! Take your time thinking about what you want to do! You might want to get out of the gutter, but the gutter will never let you go. In that case, won’t it be better to join someplace where you can be yourself?”

The old man sounded severe, and Rika’s instincts told her she should take that offered hand.

But Rika was hesitant. She did not want to make any decisions she would regret soon.

“I see! So, you cannot decide on a spot like this, right? The more I know of you, the more I like you, kid! I’ll give up for today but don’t expect this to last forever. I am interested in yours. And I always get what I want in the end.”

The older man’s interest did not feel sexual. But it was intimidating and overwhelming all the same.

Just looking at him was enough to make Rika shudder in anticipation. But she had no idea what to do next.

The old man let go of Rika’s face as easily as he had grabbed it and quickly sat on the sofa. He looked uninterested in tormenting Rika anymore.

“Sit down! You will be here for some time, so you might as well make yourself comfortable. I will assign a guard for you. I’m sure you know the person I am about to call quite well.”

The old man dialed a number on his phone, and the door opened not even a second later.

“Uncle, you called for me?”

Rika did not expect to hear Zhu Li’s voice coming from behind her, but it made her want to turn around and take a look.

Rika knew the younger alpha had been out of town for a few days. She had not expected to see him so soon.

But here he was, standing right in front of Rika, and he looked alert.

When Zhu Li noticed Rika, he tensed up and opened his mouth to ask his uncle what was happening.

“Zhu Li, I need you to be our guest’s guard for now. Rika will be staying under our protection until we reach a satisfying negotiation with her family. So, make sure no one tries anything funny, alright?”

The old alpha spoke before Zhu Li could, and Zhu Li closed his mouth not to ask any further questions.

However, he has been skepticizing Rika out of the corner of his eyes this whole time. The poor girl could not breathe without being judged by the older male.

“Can I take her out of the base?”

Zhu Li asked in a calm voice.

Rika could tell that Zhu Li was trying his hardest not to press any buttons right now, but it wasn’t easy with how things were progressing.

“Yeah, sure! Do whatever you want. Nothing would happen as long as you keep our guests safe and within your protection. But if you fail to fulfill my orders, that will be your end. Do you understand, my dear nephew?”

The older dominant alpha let out his pheromones aimed only at Zhu Li.

Rika did not even feel anything (her insensitive nature added to it), but Zhu Li was at his knees due to the pressure he felt.

The older alpha noticed this and looked even more impressed with Rika’s presence and abilities.

“I-I get it! I will see that it’s done, Uncle! Please ease up on the pressure here. I feel like I am dying!”

The younger male coughed when the pressure was released off his back.

Rika had a feeling that she was getting into a dangerous situation, but it was also her chance to be able to run away from her kidnappers.

The only question left in her mind was – how to do that?
