Chapter 316: Ch 316: Let’s not talk about it
‘Something happened. Suzie’s cheek is all swollen and red. It’s almost as if someone hit her.’
Natasha noticed her daughter’s condition the second she walked back into the hallway. She also saw how Suzie kept her distance from Rocxx, her fate this time.
Anyone would think that she was hit by Rocxx and became angry on her behalf, but Natasha was rational about it.
She had known Rocxx for some time and knew the alpha was head-over-heels in love with her daughter. He was the last person who would ever hit her.
‘Something must have happened. I should head over and check on Suzie. I have a bad feeling about all this.’
Natasha picked up a glass and headed over to where Suzie was.
Her daughter looked startled to see Natasha before her expression conflicted once more. Instead of greeting Natasha, Suzie turned her head away.
That was a telling sign for Suzie. She felt guilty about something but did not want to admit that she made a mistake.
“Suzie, did something happen? You talked to Rika and the others the last time I saw you. I suddenly don’t see anyone in the hall. Even Mark is not here to entertain me. And what happened to your cheek? Who did this to you?”
Natasha kept her voice low, her body positioned to hide Suzie from the audience, trying to take a peek at her.
It made Suzie shy, and she curled on herself a little. Her cheek’s redness was even more evident this close-up. The bruise was beginning to look more and more prominent as time passed.
“Ah, that…about that…it’s nothing. I don’t know where they all went. Why are you asking me anyway? You know how Alphas are! They wanted to have fun without me, so they left me behind.”
Natasha’s eyes narrowed as she looked at her youngest.
Suzie was lying to her, but Natasha did not understand why she had to lie to her about something like this.
It was not like Natasha asked Suzie problematic questions he could not answer.
All the older alpha was asking her to do was recall what happened. That further solidified Natasha’s belief about something happening.
“Suzie, out with it! I am not in a mood to play games with you anymore. You better tell me what happened before I find Mark and ask her about the details.”
Natasha immediately called Suzie out, and the younger flinched at the tone of voice she was subjected to.
She looked at her mother’s angry expression and knew no point in lying to her anymore.
“Rika got taken away. The kidnappers wanted to kidnap me, but Rika decided to divert their attention by smelling like me, and the next thing I knew, she was nowhere to be seen. I’m sorry! I did not mean to hide all this. I did not want to think about it.”
Suzie apologized to her mother for what had happened but could not bring herself to look at the older woman.
Natasha instantly knew that this was not the whole truth. There was no way anyone would have hit Suzie if this was all that happened.
“Suzie, please come with me for a minute.”
Natasha grabbed her daughter’s shoulder and pulled her out into the hallway. Suzie followed with a nervous gaze before her mother let go of her.
“Suzie, tell me the truth – were you going to tell me what happened if I did not ask you about Rika? Or were you going to hide the fact that Rika got kidnapped in your stead?”
Natasha asked the question outright, and her daughter flinched.
“I-I was going to tell you…eventually! I just wanted to gather some time to think about what happened! I promise I did not mean to hide anything. Rika is my sister! Why would I ever do anything to harm her?”
Suzie tried to sound innocent, but she showed her ugly side to her mother.
Natasha shook her head as she looked at her daughter. She had no idea where things had gone wrong, but Suzie had changed somewhere. She used to be such a bright child, and now she was so selfish.
“Suzie, stop speaking for a minute. I need to gather my thoughts about what happened and what you did.”

Natasha clutched her head to suppress the incoming headache. At times, speaking with Suzie was like having a conversation with a rock.
“For now, take me to where Mark and the others are. I will lend them a hand. As for you – head back home with your father as soon as you return to the party. You must ice your face down if you don’t want to ruin it.”
Suzie gulped in nervousness before she led her mother to the room where everyone else was.
She only knew that because she had Mark’s GPS location on her phone for emergencies.
Once that was done, Rocxx took her back to her father’s side. He looked like he had much to say to Suzie but did not voice his opinions in front of the young omega.
Suzie preferred her escort this way – nonverbal and only listening to her about what they do next.
Her father was easy to spot between all the people gathered around him.
‘Father is as popular as ever. And with mother no longer around to protect him, he looked so vulnerable.’
Suzie made a quick run toward her father before wiggling her way inside.
Her attempts yielded no success, so Rocxx decided to help her by walking inside the crowd.
Rocxx easily reached her father, who effortlessly dragged the older omega out from within the crowd.
“Oh god! It gets more and more difficult to handle these people every time. I wonder how your mother manages it. I suddenly miss her. Do you know where she went…Suzie, what happened to your cheek? Why is it all red and swollen?”
Her father asked, and for the first time in forever, Suzie did not have enough strength to pretend what had happened.
“I don’t want to talk about what happened. Can we head home now? I no longer want to be here.”
