Chapter 334: Ch 334: Don’t you want to know what happened?
“Shuu, I am back! Did you miss me?”

Rika held her arms before her, and the pup jumped them as soon as he noticed Rika’s presence.

She was finally back home. (could she call the dorm her home when she was not there for about 50% of the time she lived there)

“Welcome back, Rika! Did you have fun spending the last few days with your family? Your mother called when her secretary dropped off Shuu.”

Rika breathed easier when she heard the landlady say these words to her. It seemed her mother had taken care of the situation for her.

She did not want to owe her mother anything if she could help it, but this was a big help to her.

“Hey! This is enough, Shuu! Can you get up so that I can go to my room!”

Rika complained as Shuu buried her under his body weight. Shuu seemed to have no intention of letting Rika out from under his body anytime soon.

It made Rika sigh in regret, but she was not about to give up.

Finally, Fey made her way over, and she noticed the trouble Rika was going through.

Fey was taller than Rika, and she was more substantial than her as well. Shuu was too much for Rika, even at his current size, but Fey could pick Shuu up and keep him at the side.

Having that massive dog off her finally made Rika breathe easier.

“Ugh, this kid is getting too big too soon. At this rate, none of us can control him when he is out of order. I don’t want to see such a day anytime soon.”

Fey complained with a tired look on her face.

Shuu decided to give Rika one last look before he left to be alone and do what he usually did to entertain himself.

It suited Rika just fine since it gave her time to rest. As soon as she saw it, she closed her eyes and decided to fall face-first onto her bed.

Once asleep, Rika did not wake up until the following day, when Clara woke her up.

Clara looked in a much better shape than Rika had last seen her, which made her glad.

“Hey, you’re sleeping too much these days. You collapsed last time as well and did not wake up until your alarm went off! Are you alright?”

Clara’s question made much more sense if you knew what she had gone through. Her concern made Rika glad to have her as a friend.

“I am fine! I just feel tired after all that happened. Let’s just say that it is not my idea to stay out and awake, but I do so one way or another. So that’s why I am dead tired whenever I stay out.”

Rika confessed, and Charon’s expression worsened. She looked ready to protest, and Rika decided to stop her.

“It’s fine, Charon! You don’t need to be worried about me or anything. I stay out because I want to. No one is forcing me to do anything (most of the time) anyway. By the way, what time is it?”

Rika asked in a tired voice. She would have gone back to sleep if she had not picked up her phone to look at the time.

The bright digits of 07:30 greeted her, and Rika jolted aware.

“Shit! I am late! I have half an hour to get to work! Ah, I will talk to you later, Clara! I need to go now.”

Rika stood up and changed her clothes as soon as she could under the circumstances.

She ran past the landlady and did not stop to eat breakfast. Rika had to do something other than run.

Charon was the one who ended up explaining to the landlady what was happening.

Rika quickly ran toward her office, and it was a miracle that she made it right on time.

No one noticed Rika when she entered, but she could tell everyone wanted to look at her.

‘Ah, I am sure that Mark must have done something to prevent these people from showing interest in me!’

Rika just had a feeling that it was the case. It might have something to do with the fact that Mark was looking at her from the upper-level open lobby, and his presence made everyone else quickly look away from Rika.

Whatever Mark had done, Rika was grateful for. She did not like it when people stared at her for a long time.

“You are free to go in.”

The secretary could not look at Rika either, and she quickly went inside her department.

No sooner had Rika sat down than she received a call on her phone.

It was from an unknown person calling Rika, and she did not usually pick up these calls. But something inside her told her to pick up this call.

So, she did, and Rika instantly wanted to shoot her instincts for this.

“Hello, Rika Goodwill! Do you remember me? I’m sure we met recently!”

The familiar voice on the other side belonged to Ren Li.

Rika had no idea why the older man was calling her, but she had a weird feeling that things were about to get complicated for her.

“I’m sorry, but I’m busy. I will need to cut off this call now.”

Rika almost put the phone down when she heard that familiar voice. However, she decided to hold herself back for the sake of foreign relations. She could not afford to make an enemy out of this man.

“Hmm, I wouldn’t cut the call if I were you. Don’t you want to know about the person who wanted to hurt you? I can tell you who ordered you to be kidnapped and brought to me. Is that a sweet enough deal to hook you in with?”

The old man asked, and he knew that he was driving a hard bargain with Rika.

There was no way Rika, or anyone else, could refuse him under such circumstances.
