Chapter 335: Ch 335: A new offer
“I’m sorry, Alpha! We tried our best, but the interference was too much! B-But if you give us another chance, then we would surely-”

The call disconnected before the kidnappers could beg for their lives. The silence made these people even more afraid than they were before.

But the alpha they had been begging seconds earlier did not seem to care.

“Lady Lawlock, we have those kidnappers under our watch. The Rodric family has them in current custody. What would you lie to do?”

The alpha looked at her secretary with a calm expression.

She did not need to say anything for the secretary to understand what she wanted to say.

“I understand, miss! I will make sure your will is carried out! Is there anything else you want me to do?”

The secretary asked as he kept his head bowed.

The old alpha sitting on the chair did not look intimidating, but her presence was anything but dull. The second she walked into the room, she would be all one could look at.

“Call my stupid daughter-in-law. Has Natasha sent Suzie to me? I need to meet my grandchild and see if she is alright. I received a call from her asking for help. What kind of grandmother would I be if I did not help her?”

The old lady replied, and the secretary opened his mouth to ask her questions.

As soon as he made a questioning face, the alpha looked at him in warning. That was enough to make the secretary take his question back, and he quickly backed away.

“Of course, miss! I will convey your message to Lady Natasha!”

The secretary quickly made his way out of the room.

‘Ugh, I don’t understand what goes on through that old lady’s mind. She dots on two of her grandchildren but hates the other one. Just what has the world come to?’

The secretary questions, but he knows the reason behind this discrimination.

Mark and Suzie looked like the Alpha Lawlock’s son, but the middle child did not look like anyone in the family.

The middle child looked increasingly like her maternal grandmother. Long ago, everyone knew about the famous story between Alpha Lawlock and Omega Goodwill.

According to talk, the old lady Lawlock liked Omega Goodwill., but circumstances got in the way.

Since then, relationships between the two families have been strained and worsened since Omega Goodwill died.

There was no way to confirm these rumors, but no one dared to bring them up before the Alpha Lawlock.

The secretary had some work to do. It involved dispatching people to clear out the kidnappers they had sent after Rika.

The secretary would never know how these kidnappers kept confusing Rika and Suzie. It was a surprise when they went after the right target this time.

“Don’t you want to know about the person who wanted to hurt you? I can tell you who ordered you to be kidnapped and brought to me. Is that a sweet enough deal to hook you in with?”

The dominant alpha on the other end of the phone asked Rika this question.

She had to admit that she was curious but not curious enough to make a blind deal.

“I don’t need to know about this. I already have an idea who could be behind that kidnapping. Also, I would prefer it if we no longer had any relationship with each other. Being held hostage is not a good feeling to have.”

Rika was not rude to Ren Li but was not polite either.

Now that the man had held Rika hostage once, he would not be able to reach her again. Emily and Damian would keep an eye on the older man.

“Hmm, this sounds like a shame. You are breaking my heart by saying this. I even spent a lot of money chipping you up, but you even took that out, huh?”

The chip had been a small device that had been stuck to Rika’s back. It had not even been professionally put in, and Damian threw it away as soon as he noticed it.

All the treats Ren Li made sounded off. The dominant alpha was taking things too lightly and told Rika that she did not need to worry about offending this man now or in the future.

*Sigh*

“Alpha Li, I am currently busy working. Please let me know if you need anything done, and be fast. I don’t have the whole day to talk to you.”

With the added phone barrier between the pair, Rika felt safer calling the alpha out and not caring much about it.

It was not like the older could do anything to Rika over the phone.

The most he could do was give her a command, but Rika doubted it would work since she got a new bonding mark (temporary one) from another dominant alpha.

“Fine! Since you don’t want to play around like this, I will stop playing around the bush. There is a mission I need your help with. Don’t worry! It’s a simple mission, and you will be done soon. Don’t you trust me?”

The older man asked with a slight smile on his face.

Rika swore she could hear that smile in the man’s voice. There was something about this man that made her instincts protest. But despite that, Rika decided to let this man have the benefit of the doubt.

“Fine! I will listen to you later. For now, I need to work.”

Rika cut off the call before Mark made his way to the room. He singled Rika out while the others pretended not to have seen this.

“Come with me now. We need to talk.”

Mark held himself straight and looked Rika in the eye. He was not going to take ‘no’ for an answer.

Rika had no choice but to come with him.
