Chapter 336: Ch 336: Uncle wants to meet you
“Mark, I have told you before that I do not want anything to do with you, right? Then why do you keep cornering me like this? Is it fun tormenting me like this? You know I cannot say no to you in my current situation.”
When the soundproof door closed behind her, Rika immediately challenged her brother. She was resolute in not letting Mark seize control, knowing his tactics all too well.
If he had control of the situation, he would not let Rika speak and find a way to change the problem, which would be Rika’s fault.
As expected, Mark bit his lip in agitation as he looked Rika’s way. His eyes sparked with curiosity but also aggression and determination.
“I wanted to apologize to you! I know that whatever happened between us until now was something you did not wish to do. But I can’t take it anymore! My inner self won’t let my conscience rest until I’ve made up with you.”
Mark sounded genuinely sad and wanted to pick up his relationship with Rika.
He was putting all his pride aside, and his words sounded desperate enough to make Rika reconsider his efforts.
Still, there was a limit to Rika’s patience, and she would not let Mark do as he pleased.
“We got over this conversion. Just how selfish are you-”
“Darn it! I admit that I am selfish! I am the most selfish person you will meet. I only care about myself and the feelings of the people I want to know. I admit that I did not have much interest in you before!
But even then! You are my sister, Rika. Even if I was not interested in you before, that does not mean I stopped considering you, my sister.
It’s okay if you don’t forgive me since that is not what I want. You can be angry at me all you want! But I want you to allow me to prove myself and my sincerity.”
This was as close to begging as Mark had gotten in front of Rika.
It was a miracle that this happened, despite Mark’s alpha pride getting in the way. Rika had never thought she would see her brother like this ever in her life.
*sigh*
“I don’t want to give you a second chance! You know that as well as I do, right? But still! Since you are begging to pathetically, I have no choice but to agree. I will give you one last chance. But if you mess this up, you will never be able to see me again.”
Rika promised, and Mark suddenly looked happy and cheerful again.
“Don’t worry! I won’t cause you to feel disappointed in me again. And if I do break my promise somehow, you have my permission to disappear and never be seen again. On that note, here! Take this invite! Father’s birthday is coming. Please attend the party.”
Mark promised, his eyes shining with determination when he looked at Rika.
He was thinking of what he needed to do to make Rika feel comfortable with him.
While he was busy thinking about it, Rika looked down at the card she had received.
She was not surprised to see that Suzie was the organizer on the card. Her younger sister had been in charge of organizing the party for a few years.
Their grandmother was responsible, but no one connected her with their father in front of their mother.
“I will think about attending this party. If that were all, I would like to head back now.”
Mark made a face that said that he had more to say. But Rika was already out of the door before he could say anything to her.
Ultimately, both sides did not finish speaking, and many things were left unsaid.
When Rika returned to the office, there was an awkward silence. Curious gazes followed her every move until she sat down and began working.
Only after Rika sat down did everyone divert their gazes away.
Rika was more than aware of the looks she was getting from the people around her and what they wanted from her.
But she would not give anyone the satisfaction of messing with her.

Somehow, Rika managed to get through her workload alone today. She was slowly adapting to the things she needed to do.
When office hours ended, Rika felt exhausted and headed out. She was about to head home alone when someone honked their car horn to get Rika’s attention.
Zhu Li’s familiar face looked back at Rika, and she immediately tensed.
She was about to turn around and pretend that she never saw him when her phone began to run.
Ren Li’s name flashed across her screen before Rika took another look at Zhu Li’s face and sighed in regret.
It seemed she would be kidnapped again and had no choice. Zhu Li looked just as miserable as Rika but still followed the given orders.
“Get inside! Uncle wants to meet you again. Don’t worry! This is an official invite, so you can head out as soon as you are done with him. We won’t play tricks on you this time.”
Zhu Li promised, knowing fully well what Rika was worried about.
His words did reassure Rika a little, but she also knew that it would be better for her (not the family, just her) to listen to Zhu Li and get this interaction over with.
“Fine! I will come and meet your uncle once more. Let me call my partners and tell them where I am heading. They will find a way to get me out if I need help.”
Zhu Li opened his mouth to assure Rika that there was no need to do that. But then he remembered how his uncle was and what he did to people he did not like.
“Yeah, that would be a wise idea. I do not know what my uncle wants from you, so keeping your vigilance up would be a good idea.”
