Chapter 342: Ch 342: The deal is finalized
“Now that Rika is here, shall we begin? Ah, where should I start with? There is just too much I want to tell you-”

“Where are my friends? Where the hell did you take them? I am not in a good mood, so you better tell me now.”

Rika demanded to know this as soon as the conversation began.

Zhu Li paled when Rika cut her uncle off, but Rika did not care much about his uncle or anything related to him. She just wanted to know where her friends were.

“Ah, your friends are alright! There is no need for you to feel worried, Rika! Don’t you believe me when I tell you I have not harmed your friends?”

The older man asked, but his words did nothing to assure Rika about his sincerity. She would not believe a word he said until she saw her friends with her eyes.

Thankfully, the man understood where Rika was coming from and quickly calmed down and snapped his finger.

It was his signal to calm down, and Zhu Li reacted first by placing his hand on Rika’s shoulder and forcing her to sit down.

“Rika, I know you are angry at Uncle, but it would be best to sit down and listen to him. Getting angry at him will not help you accomplish anything.”

Zhu Li had a point, and he helped Rika calm down. She breathed a sigh of relief before Rika sat down and decided to listen to the older alpha.

“As I said before – your friends are safe for now. I had them sedated because they kept trying to run away. I’ll let you see them through the monitor if you don’t believe me. But only if you agree to be my partner for the party I asked you about.’

Rika’s eye twitched as soon as she heard the older man speak.

He had done so much harm to get Rika to agree to go to a party with him. There was a limit to a person’s ridiculousness, which crossed the line.

“Rika, what are you doing? Uncle, shit! Rika did not mean to do this. Please, don’t lose your temper as well and harm her!”

Zhu Li moved too late. Rika had already dragged Ren Li toward him by the collar of his shirt, and she looked at the man in front of her with burning eyes.

“You better not have touched my friends, or I will be unable to calm myself down. I am only behaving because you have my friends with you.”

Rika assured the other side before she let go. Zhu Li breathed a sigh of relief when that happened.

“Hmm, you are a fierce one for sure, kid! Your anger is adorable, and so is your glaring. I won’t mind dying if it is at the hands of someone like you. But I am afraid now is not the time for me to die either. What a pity, right?”

Ren Li believed these words with a straight and smiling face,

He was the kind of person whom Rika hated. It was so unfortunate that she could not do anything about him currently.

“Anyway, there is no need to be angry at me! Here, as I promised, I will show you the people you have been searching for. They’ll be released the second we step on the party ship tomorrow. If you don’t believe me, you can send someone else to ensure I keep my word.”

Rika was going to do that for sure. She will task Damian and her landlady with this.

This was mostly her fault, so Rika wanted to do whatever she could to help her friends.

“Now that the air has cleared, let’s head back and prepare for tomorrow. I will send you all the necessities you will need. Hopefully, the trip will only be a night long, and we will be back the day after.”

Ren Li made a happy face, but Lisa did not trust this man. There was too much he was not telling her.

“Wait! You said something about the slavery and trafficking incident before. Didn’t you say that you wanted me to investigate it before? What happened to that?”

Rika asked, her suspicions rising against this man.

Ren Li only smiled at her mysteriously, making goosebumps on Rika’s skin.

“Did I say all that? You don’t need to worry about it. That situation would find a way to clarify itself once the party is over. Your pretty little head doesn’t need to think about it.”

The man patted Rika’s hair as an assurance, and Rika felt him tugging her slightly.

Not many would have noticed the small chip Ren Li snuck in their hair, but Rika noticed it. She was about to take it out when Ren Li leaned toward her and whispered.

“Keep that pin on you for now. I have a feeling some friends will try to visit you today! If you need help, then message me. We’ll be there as soon as possible.”

Ren Li’s smile and voice did not falter for a second. He continued to look at Rika with the same expression he always did.

It made Rika nervous, but she decided to humor the older male. She did not want to annoy him for as long as he had Rika’s friends with him.

“Fine! I’ll act as your dog for now. But as soon as this party ends, we will become strangers again, alright?”

Rika asked, and Ren Li looked more than happy to grant her this. He smiled at Rika before she left his office.

Zhu Li followed her out, but he looked far too nervous to speak to her about anything. This confrontation with his uncle had left him anxious and speechless.

Still, he could not help but admire Rika’s bravery. She had stood up against his uncle and came out with her head held high.

Not many could prove to do the same. So, he had the uttermost respect for Rika and her bravery.
