Chapter 344: Ch 344: An Expected attack
Zhu Li made a complicated face. There was much he wanted to ask Rika, but when he decided to open his mouth, words escaped his mind.

‘I am such a coward! I need to stand up and speak about what I am thinking. But every time I want to do that, my body freezes up. Shit! I knew I should have gone to therapy for this stuff.’

Even if Zhu Li said, he knew he would not go to therapy. His problem stemmed from his long-term family abuse, but it was all verbal and nothing physical.

It was shameful for a dominant alpha like him to be stumped by such a thing, and Zhu Li did not want anyone to know what had happened to him.

That was why he wouldn’t let this bother him. It was the only way he could preserve any pride he had.

“Do you want to ask me something?”

Rika asked innocently, but that question was like a jab to Zhu Li. He wanted to ask her so much but had no courage to speak out loud.

In the end, he just shook his head and looked away.

“Nah, it’s fine! Whatever I wanted to ask was not important anyway. Let’s get you back now. I’m sure you want to tell your dormmates the news about your friends and how they should not worry.”

Zhu Li distracted Rika from his worries.

Even though Rika noticed what he was doing, she was nice enough not to mention his insecurities.

Instead, she supported Zhu Li silently by not pressing him for answers.

“By the way, will you come to pick me up tomorrow, or will it be your uncle? Ugh, if he is going to pick me up, can you ask him to do it where no one can see us? I don’t want to explain to someone why a person who could be my dad is picking me up for a date.”

Rika made an annoyed face as she looked at Zhu Li.

The dominant alpha did not expect anyone to say this about his uncle, so he could only blink in shock before a startled laugh left his mouth.

He tried his hardest not to laugh, but it kept going once the dam was broken.

Zhu Li had to park his car aside eventually, or he would have crashed it.

“Oh fuck! I never heard this regarding my uncle before. But you are right! He does look to be the same age as your father. It will be an award to explain to people. I’ll warn him about this.”

Zhu Li assured Rika before he stopped the car where he needed to drop Rika.

Somehow, after dropping Rika in her neighborhood, he was still unsatisfied. His instincts told him to accompany her back to her door, or something drastic would happen.

“You want to come to my dorm with me, Zhu Li? I don’t mind you accompanying me for some time. As long as you don’t enter the dorm grounds, everything would be fine.”

Rika assured him, but the dominant alpha was still a little hesitant.

But Zhu Li could not shake his feelings up no matter what he did. So, he was only left with one option – follow Rika inside and ensure she returned home in one piece.

“I blame you for all this. I had never been this worried before. But ever since I met you, all I have been worried about is this. This is not good for my health.”

Zhu Li complained, but he ended up following Rika inside anyway. He was going to head toward her form when he felt a presence following his footsteps.

Rika was always surrounded by people who watched over her, but that presence never felt as hostile as this one.

‘Ah, so we are being followed by enemies. I knew this was going to happen! This was what my instincts were warning me about.’

Zhu Li looked at Rika, and she also seemed to sense a hostile presence following them.

“Hey, I think we have a pest following after us. Should we take care of it before it becomes a problem? I don’t want people to know where I live in case this incident happens again.”

The dominant alpha flinched at Rika’s accusation.

He also swore never to let her discover how much of a role he played in everything.

Rika signaled for Zhu Li to follow him, and she led them all into an empty alley that had a dead end. There was nowhere else for them to run.

“Oops, looks like I took the wrong turn. What shall we do now? Should we head back? It would be a shame if we got attacked in this alley.”

Rika called out loudly, but their stalker did not show himself. That caused Rika to feel a little ticked, and she quickly picked up the car and threw it toward the street, where she could feel the hostile presence.

“You! Come out! If you think you have gone unnoticed, then you are wrong. I gave you more than enough time to show yourself, but you are being stubborn. And I don’t like stubborn people.”

Rika complained; her expression was much more hostile and closed off.

Zhu Li had never thought Rika could look intimidating with her small body and cute face. But he shivered when he saw her expression.

It was cold enough to kill someone.

The other on the other side slowly emerged once he noticed that he had been busted and that he could not correct the situation.

Zhu Li expected their attacker to be a bulky alpha (the trend in the mafia and also suitable for intimidation). Still, it turned out to be a fairly average-looking beta female.

“So, you found out about me, huh? So, what if you found out? That does not mean that you are safe from my attack. Here, enjoy this.”

The female threw a bomb toward the pair, and it instantly filled the air with blue gas.
