Chapter 348: Ch 348: Old and New
“Emily, did you go drinking? I told you must stop doing that when you go out. Damian, why did you allow Emily to get this drunk? And before you ask, Emily! No! No one is dying or committing suicide. Things are going to be just fine.”

Rika would have grabbed her head, but that would not have solved anything for her. In fact, it would have made things worse.

So, she stood in front of the alpha pair with her head held high and did not back down, even when Emily made a crying face toward her.

She would not let Emily dictate what she could or could not do.

“B-But this is not fair! You never went on an actual date with us, but will you give a no-name your time like this? How is that fair? You are dating us, not him!”

Emily complained as she clutched Rika’s clothes.

She was acting like a child, and Rika’s temper was riding. Usually, she could handle such behavior from the alpha, but not today.

Rika was physically and emotionally exhausted after her day.

“Emily, I want to do this. This is not a date but a mission for me. If you are worried about me, follow me to ensure I am fine. That is what you wanted to hear from the start, right?”

Rika knew the alpha well. One look and she could tell what Emily was after.

As soon as Rika permitted Emily, that fake crying stopped, and Emily’s expression turned hopeful.

“I can come after you? Just like that? You won’t get angry at me if I come after you?”

Emily asked with a small gasp. She seemed to have difficulty believing Rika, but that was to be expected.

“Yeah! I don’t mind if either you or Damian come after me. It will help me if you both decide to come and keep an eye on what is happening. I am assuming that you will find a way to me?”

Rika asked, and the alpha pair did not have to think about it before nodding.

“Of course, we will find a way! You don’t have to worry about a thing, Rika.”

Emily promised, and Rika decided to drop the topic. She did not bother telling the pair where the party was being held or who was in charge. (Mostly because she did not even know. But the alpha pair was resourceful enough to find it.)

“Alright! It seems like we resolved the issue. What would you both like to do now that I have permitted you? Do you want to head out with me? We can make it a date.”

Rika was not often encouraging with her relationships, but that did not mean she hated them.

Even now, she could see Emily’s eyes widening at Rika’s offer.

“You want to go on a date with us? But you don’t like going out. Do you want to stay indoors and watch a movie? We can arrange that if that’s what you like.”

If Rika knew Emily well, the vice-versa would be true as well. Emily also knew Rika’s preferences and suggested something Rika would like to do.

Rika could not deny that she liked that suggestion.

She would prefer to stay indoors and watch a movie if it were only her. But Emily liked to go out and mingle with people, and Rika did not want to hold her back this time.

“Let’s go out. I know you want to go to a club and drink a lot. Since Damian allowed you to get intoxicated, I can only assume that he wants to go out as well. You can choose the place for us to party out tonight.”

Rika promised with a small smile. She could see the female alpha hesitating in shock before taking this gamble.

“You sure you want to go out with us today? You don’t have to force yourself…fine, let’s go out clubbing. It’s been some time…”

Emily suddenly stopped before she grabbed Rika’s arm and pulled her close. Her cold nose contacted Rika’s neck before Emily took a big sniff out of it.

A growl immediately escaped Emily’s lips when she noticed the omega smell Rika was giving out.

“Rika, you are letting out pheromones! How did you not realize just how much you were letting out? Did you not take your suppressants? No! Since when did your pheromones get this bad?”

Emily questioned as she continued to sniff at Rika’s neck. Rika felt that Emily had already lost her mind because of the smell.

The female alpha was beginning to release her pheromones because of the pair’s proximity, which also affected Rika.

Her legs went soft like jelly, and she had to lean forward to manage her balance.

It left her half-leaning against Rika, half standing up, in an awkward position. But the alternative was to crush the alpha with her (non-existing) weight, so this felt better for Rika.

“Is it that bad? The doctor said I cannot take supplements since my body needs time to settle down. I did spray myself with the pheromone suppressors, but they must have worn off by now.

Since I can’t smell my pheromones, it is difficult to know when I need to respray myself. Just give me a minute, and I will-”

Rika pulled out her spray and was about to top herself when Emily reached out and grabbed her hand.

Emily’s hands were shaking, and her clenched teeth showed just how much power and self-restraint she used. It made Rika feel sorry for her.

“Emily-”

“We’re heading home right now. Forget about heading out to a club or anywhere else. There is no way I will allow you to step like that in the party. You need to be marked as ours.”

Emily’s eyes were shining. Rika’s breath hitched, and she looked up to see if Damian would help her.

The older alpha had not said anything to Rika yet, but his eyes were hungry and excited.

This pair was ready to devour Rika alive, but her desire to run was being suppressed slowly.
