Chapter 361: Ch 361: The first meeting
“Did you argue with Rika again? Wow! How long has it been since you both had such a heated argument? But at least you did not hit yourself. I don’t think you ever hit Rika after your first argument. What were you? Seven years old at that time? Man, Rika was a fierce four years old, right?”
Emily seemed to have been awake the whole time that argument took place. She had been listening to what happened, and her head instantly peaked once Rika was gone.
Damian ignored her out of spite over what happened, but Emily just laughed at his plight. It slowly began to get louder and louder until she could not control herself anymore.
She still remembers the first time she saw Damian and Rika meet, and she will never be able to forget that time. It had all been so legendary after all.
…
At age six, Emily Steinz had everything you could imagine in life. Her family was loaded, so she had no shortage of cash. And as a pre-determined alpha, her parents saw no point in denying her whatever she wanted.
The only sound of disappointment she heard was from her nanny, who seemed devastated that Emily would not be an omega or even a beta.
According to her nanny, it was a shame that all the heirs of the four families turned out to be alphas, which was not good for the future.
Emily was six years old and had no idea what that meant, but she knew she did not like how her nanny looked at her.
Life was bland, and Emily’s only entertainment was tormenting her nanny at that age.
Since the older woman made every move to ensure Emily would be well-behaved, ‘like most omegas should be,’ she had no choice but to be loud and make her voice heard.
Her parents were not often home, but when they were, Emily made sure she was extra loud to disturb them and for them to see how incompetent the nanny was.
During such a dull time, her parents finally suggested the first good thing in Emily’s life—arranging a meetup between the children of the four families.
It was to be held between the Steinz, Rodric, and Goodwill families. But frankly speaking, Emily was not looking forward to it.
She especially did not like how the nanny encouraged her to meet and befriend the heir of the ‘Rodric family and how he was such a great catch.
When Emily went into this meeting, she was already biased against one of the people in the circle.
She was sure she would not like Damian Rodric, and the feeling seemed mutual.
The older kid chose to ignore Emily and did not even look toward her during the two hours they spent together before the Goodwill family came.
And what an entrance it was.
Mark Goodwill came inside with his young sister, Suzie, in toe. The twin blonds looked related, and there was no need to guess they were siblings.
But Emily’s eyes turned toward the child walking in the back.
It was hard to notice that gloomy presence, but something about those black hair and that small face made Emily want to be her friend.
“Are you the kids from the Steinz and Rodric family? My name is Mark Goodwill, and I am the oldest alpha here. I will be in charge of you all from here on.”
Mark assured as he held his chest out. Suzie giggled at her brother’s actions, and her three-year-old self decided she wanted to approach Damian.
But Damian ignored the pair, and he approached Rika out of curiosity.
“Hey, who are you? Are you ignoring me?”
Damian asked, and even back then, he did not say much. His eyes kept looking at Rika, ignoring anything else around him.
It seemed to not sit well with Suzie.
Even at such a young age, she was an attention seeker. She wanted everyone to always pay attention to her and her alone. She started crying as soon as people did not look at her.
Mark immediately turned toward Suzie, and Emily looked annoyed at the crying kid.

But Damian’s curiosity and focus did not change. He looked at Rika with his dark eyes and continued blocking her path.
Mark got incredibly uncomfortable with Suzie’s crying and quickly tried calming his sister down. But no matter what he did, he could not make Suzie feel better.
“Rika, we are heading back to mother and father right now. Let’s go! We need to get Suzie to father. He will know how to make her feel better.”
Mark seemed to have no regard for Rika’s thoughts, even at a young age, but he did make sure to include her when he talked.
He quickly walked back toward the outside hall, and Rika stepped there.
But Damian had no intention of allowing her to leave.
Rika took one step to the right, and Damian followed. If she had taken a step to the left, he would have been here. He was not letting Rika pass his body.
“Please stop blocking my way. I need to go after my brother.”
That was the first time Emily heard Rika speaking, and she instantly knew that she liked that melodious voice.
It was low and barely audible. This child did not seem to have much confidence in herself, and she did not speak loudly either.
But when she did speak, Emily wanted to listen to her and be Rika’s friend.
Unfortunately, Damian Rodric seemed to have the same thoughts as Emily. But he decided to take a more proactive approach to his decision and block Rika’s way outside.
“Hey, please get out of the way. It is not fine for you to block me like this.”
Rika spoke again, but her voice was much firmer this time. Even Emily needed to obey her when she was being like this.
But Damian kept holding his ground before Rika, and he did not move.
