Chapter 367: Ch 367: Betrayed by a close one
“Boss, it’s urgent. Our operation has been exposed to the triads and the four families. If we don’t act now, we’ll be hunted down. What’s our next move?”
The subordinate, keeping an eye on their trafficking operation, told the boss.
He had only come to this conclusion because he saw the old alpha of the Goodwill family on the ship. She was someone who had been a pain in their side for a long time.
It was a perfect opportunity to get rid of her and other agents who could be on this operation and had infiltrated the ranks of their employees.
“Tsk, I guess we have no choice this time. Sink the ship and make sure no remains are found once it is at the bottom of the sea. I will leave it up to you to ensure all our trails are buried.”
The boss ordered before he got up and left the room.
Now that he was aware of this setback, his mood had soured. He no longer had the patience to oversee that project when more pressing matters arose.
His words made the subordinate sigh in agitation before he quickly got to work and arranged for the ship to sink.
Within ten minutes, he learned that the cruise ship had collided with an underwater rock and would sink within minutes.
“I feel so sorry for all the lives that will be lost today. I would not have done it if there was another way to prevent this. I hope you all forgive me in the future.”
The man who gave the order for the ship to sink prayed to god before he forgot all about it and went to do what he did in his day-to-day life.
…
“The ship…is it sinking? That collision felt hard! Damian, we must find Rika and get out of here.”
The ship’s sudden shake woke Emily, and they immediately looked toward Damian’s side.
The older male was awake and looked startled. He was already on his feet and ready to head out.
“I will check my tracker. I am sure I have one on Rika just in case…”
Emily opened her phone but was annoyed that her tracker pointed beside her.
She pulled up the covers, only to see that Rika had left her phone right where she had been sleeping.
‘This is fine! I don’t need to panic. There are more ways for me to get to Rika than her phone tracker.’
Emily had placed more than a few trackers around her, and she consciously decided to use them.
However, these trackers were scattered throughout the place. Most were not even on the ship, which made Emily worry.
However, the ship had two trackers, meaning that Emily had to be in one of these locations.
One was at the front of the ship, while the other was heading to the safety area.
Emily needed to decide since there was not enough time for them to head toward both places and make it out on time.
“I will head toward the front of the ship; you head to safety! I will turn off her tracker now so you can ensure I am telling the truth.”
Damian decided, and he was about to head out when Emily got a call on her phone.
It was from her secretary, and the sudden call shocked her.
“Miss Emily, please head to the security area! I have Rika with me, so you don’t need to worry about her. We will meet you at the start.’
Had anyone else bit Secretary Hong, Emily would not have believed him. But because it was this person, Emily felt relief fill her heart.
“Dami, Secretary Hong says that he has Rika. We should head back to the evacuation ports as well now.”

Emily assured the other just as the second tracker went off. It was as much of a reassurance as Emily could get.
She could tell that Damian was not reassured by her words, but there was not enough time to go to the front of the ship.
Dami! We need to take this opportunity to believe in my secretary. He has been with us for so long and has never let us down. You also said that he was trustworthy, right?”
Emily asked, and the older dominant alpha just sighed before he made his way behind Emily.
There was still doubt and suspicion on Damian’s face, but that was fine for now. Their goal was to get out in time.
The rescue area was crowded, and all the V.I.Ps were being escorted out quickly.
Damian started to look around for Rika, but Secretary Hong quickly walked toward them.
“Miss! Rika Goodwill has already been escorted out of here by her grandmother. There is no need for you to worry about her. Please, call me to help you out.”
The secretary reached to grab Emily’s hand and dragged her out. This made her grab Damian’s hand reflexively, and they all went to one of the last boats left there.
Emily, Damian, and her secretary were among the last to escape that ship. They watched as it went out from the rescue boa.
The ground was not within miles of sight, but the helicopters were already dispatched to save all their lives.
That cruise ship finally disappeared under the sea, engulfed by the waves. It was gone, with all the evidence it carried and all the lives that could not be saved.
Emily and the others were safely escorted to the ground by security, and that was when Emily noticed a strange thing—she could not find Rika.
Rika was nowhere to be seen among everyone around her, and no one recalled seeing her either.
So, if Rika was not here, then where did she go? Or had her secretary lied in the first place? And why?
Emily had been betrayed by the person she chose to trust, and it felt like her heart was breaking apart just thinking about it.
