Middle Child Syndrome - Chapter 37
Chapter 37: Ch 37: Shared blame
‘Put one foot in front of the other. Do not fall asleep and keep moving. I can do this. I need to survive this at all costs.’
Rika fought against the resistance, and every step was a battle. She was on the verge of collapsing, but she refused to give in.
The kidnapper and the butler had a mildly fast pace, and Rika stumbled after that as the pair dragged her around.
*cough*
“Mister Darling is behind these doors. I want to issue you a warning before you enter. Do not ask Mister Darling his age since he is sensitive about it. Be polite and calm to him. And mostly, respect him and do not question him.”
“If you do all these things, you can leave this mansion without fearing for your life.”
The butler warned the pair, but Rika could not remember them all. She only knew that she needed to keep breathing.
Her deteriorating condition was no barrier for the kidnapper to drag her inside the door before the doors shut behind them.
The kidnapper gasped when his eyes fell on ‘Mister Darling.’
That also drew Rika’s attention; she instantly disliked that older omega.
Darling was a stubbing omega who looked slightly taller than Suzie. He had stunning blond hair and golden eyes. He looked to be around his early 20s, but Rika felt he was much older.
“Oh my! Mister seller, you are finally here! I was waiting for you since you had something for me. I hope it is something exciting.”
The omega looked delighted but dangerous at the same time.
Maybe it was because he looked like Suzie, or maybe his aura screamed danger, but Rika feared this man and whatever he stood for.
Something about him made Rika’s instincts stand on edge, and she slowly backed away.
“Mister Darling, what an unparalleled beauty you are. For such a beauty, only the highest quality gifts are worthy. That is why I brought her here. She is someone you can use when the boss is not here. Just look at her face and her body.”
The kidnapper finally brought Rika out, and Rika noticed how Mister Darling’s eyes narrowed as he looked at Rika.
Distrust, disgust, and jealousy swirled in those eyes. Rika was sure that Darling was about to lash out at her any second.
“Mister seller, do you want to tell me something? If you brought an omega here, you should show it to my partner. I don’t appreciate you bringing another omega into my territory to spite me.”
Rika could tell that this omega was furious.
Even if she had not felt the kidnapper cringing behind her, she would have guessed that this man was soothingly mad.
And he had every right to be.
No self-respecting omega liked to have another omega in their territory.
The kidnapper quickly decided to correct the misunderstanding that had occurred.
“Mister Darling, that is not it! I did not bring an omega to meet you. This girl might look like this, but she is a beta. You can see that she emits no pheromones. She will be the perfect person to aid you.”
The kidnapper quickly spoke before the pheromone overdose could kill him, he was experiencing.
His words caused the omega to stop emitting pheromones and suddenly pause what he was doing.
Rika stiffened when that omega came close to her to smell her scent. She initially wanted to cringe, but moving back a little was all she could do now.
When Mister Darling pulled back, he had a fascinated expression.
“You are right! This person has no scent. Her face can make her look like an omega, but she is a beta. So, what is her name and identity? I think she is interesting enough to buy.”

Rika felt her insides turn cold at the casual way these two were discussing her issue. But speaking was a difficult task for her current self, so she did not say anything.
“I will tell you all about her. But first! I need a promise from Mister Darling that you will buy her and protect me in the future. Only then can I sell her to you.”
The kidnapper was brilliant, and he had laid out these conditions beforehand. He did not want to get into trouble when he was close to his goal.
Those words sent warning signs in ‘Darling’s’ mind, but the omega was too intrigued and interested to pay much attention to these minor warning signs.
“Alright! I will give you my words.”
The omega assured, but the kidnapper was not satisfied even then.
“No! Please buy this beta first. Then I will tell you all about her identity.”
The man promised, but the omega looked resigned.
For a second, Rika believed that she would not be bought, and she celebrated inside her mind.
But the omega reconsidered his options and decided to buy Rika.
“Alright! I will buy that beta from you. Name your prince, and I will try to match it.”
That conversation went on for a while, and Rika tried to run. But the second she tried to pick her hand up, it fell due to her lack of energy.
She was stuck there until she got an antidote for whatever had been given to her.
The pair arguing beside her finally concluded, and the alpha kidnapper smiled at the omega before him.
“Here! She is all yours now. Aren’t you glad someone wanted you enough to pay for yourself? I am sure you will be well-cared for here.”
The kidnapper patted Rika’s head, and she hated how it felt good to be told this. This whole situation was fucked up, and Rika wanted out.
“So, now that I bought her, tell me about this beta’s identity.”
Mister Darling asked steadily, but the alpha kidnapper also had a solution.
He brought out an envelope, held it, and placed it on the table for the omega to see.
“You can read this once I am gone. What you do with this information is up to you. But remember, you are also an accomplice, so you will not escape the blame if this gets out.”
