Middle Child Syndrome - Chapter 384
Chapter 384: Ch 384: A job
“Not this one! Can’t you even get the color right? I asked you for green tea, so why is it yellow? Also, no caffeine! Don’t you get it on the first try?”
The teacup flew and collided with the hotel wall, leaving a stain behind. No one wanted to speak up in front of such a temper, not even the manager, who was tasked to handle such things.
Despite the challenging situation, the staff maintained their professionalism. They understood that the guest’s actions were deliberate, but they continued serving gracefully and patiently.
Rika threw a temper tantrum to cause trouble for their hotel and nothing else.
Usually, the manager would have been more than happy to remove such a guest, but she was not allowed to do that this time.
Their boss had told them to endure anything this guest threw their way and remain professional.
So, as much as it pained her and the staff to cater to such a passionate…. response, they had no choice but to endure it.
“Miss, please don’t pick up the pieces of the broken cup. We will pick it up for you.”
The manager calmly asked with a smile, but she was boiling on the inside. She wanted nothing more than to hit this girl over the head with a plate and make her lose consciousness.
It worked, and Rika did calm down for a minute. But she looked agitated to be inside.
The manager was unsure if her idea would work, but she offered Rika something no one else could—controlled freedom.
“Miss, would you like to take a short walk and head to the convenience store? I can have our guards accompany you for a short walk. It might help you clear your mind out.”
The manager asked in a tense voice.
She was unsure how much of her advice Rika would take, but the younger looked interested in heading out.
‘Yes! I finally managed to negotiate with this person. Now she will stop torturing our staff like this and let us do our work.’
It was a happy occasion, and the manager would not let anything ruin it. Not even the guards, looking at her in anger and agitation, could force her to reverse her decision.
“Manager, I am afraid that this will not be-”
“Don’t worry, Miss. You just need to tell the world; my staff will help you however you want. As long as you don’t run away or cause more trouble, we will help you.”
The manager offered this olive branch for the other side to take. The silence made the manager nervous, unsure what would happen next.
Would Rika accept her peace offering? Or would she like to torture this poor staff more?
“Fine! If you allow me to head out and get fresh air occasionally, I will remain calm.”
Rika promised, and the manager felt excited to finally have this devil off her shoulder.
The hotel suffered greatly due to her pranks, and the other guests who came here also started complaining.
“Good! We can go with the person who came here. I will ask our strongest guards to accompany us. Two should be fine. You can get one of your people to follow us as well.”
The manager turned toward the mafia standing beside her, and she looked at them with a smile.
Rika felt the manager must be in a high position in the mafia because no one tried to argue with her or say anything. They all looked at each other before one volunteered to be the guard.
“I will come with you. But I will catch you and lock you back in your room if you try to escape.”
The man promised Rika, but she did not feel worried.
She had no intention of running away this time. Rika had nowhere else to run, so it was best for her to stay and bid her time.
Once she was sure she wanted to head out and had a solid plan, she would run away from this place and not look back.

She took her time getting ready, but Rika did not have much to do. She quickly walked out, and her escorts walked behind her at a safe distance.
They were far enough not to be seen as Rika had not much for Rike to be able to run away from them all.
“Miss, what would you like to have? You can charge the hotel for anything you buy, and we will charge the person who booked you here.”
The manager was not a fool. She recognized a high-profile kidnapped victim when she saw one.
However, unlike previous cases, their boss had not asked them to keep Rika’s identity a secret. He had not even addressed the situation, making the manager realize that keeping Rika locked up was unnecessary.
‘Poor girl! She is likely a trap for someone else, and the boss is using her. She might also know it, but she is not saying anything.’
The manager was an alpha, but her senses were rather dull. She could not smell anything from Rika, but her instincts saw Rika as an omega.
It made her feel agitated and a little bit distant from the omega walking beside her.
“That store! I would like to buy something from in there. Are you going to follow me in there as well?”
The alpha manager was about to say yes before she noticed that the store Rika wanted to enter was an omega-specific store that sold hygiene products.
It made the manager turn red, and she quickly decided she did not need to head there herself. She was going to call for backup now.
“Just wait here for a bit. I will arrange for someone to head in with you. Please don’t go in alone.”
The manager promised, sighing. This would be a long day for her, and she was not looking forward to it. But what else could she do? This was her job, after all.
