Middle Child Syndrome - Chapter 391
Chapter 391: Ch 391: The greeting
‘Shit! I was not supposed to hide from that gaze. I am sure that the dominant alpha sitting in front of me is someone I know as well. But I felt embarrassed and just looked away as a reflex.’
Rika wanted to curse herself for her habits. She had not meant to show such a pathetic reaction.
She could tell the dominant alpha looked unhappy after seeing Rika avoid his eyes and not walk toward him.
“Are you alright? Did Damian scare you? Don’t worry! I will not take you there if you don’t want to. You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to when you are with me.”
Emily promised, and Rika was slightly startled when she remembered her name. She was not even sure if this was right.
“It’s fine! I am not scared of that person. I looked away more out of reflex rather than being scared of him. I will be fine even if we head in now.”
Rika promised with a shaky smile. She felt slightly terrified about heading in but knew she could not avoid that fate forever.
Emily tightened her hold around Rika in encouragement before they stepped closer to Damian.
They were taking too long, and Damian decided he did not want to wait for them any longer. He reached out to tug Rika toward himself, but the sudden tug took Rika aback.
Her hands met a hard chest, and she looked up before relaxing.
Damian was not as scary in the close-up as he looked from afar.
In fact, Rika felt safe in his arms. He made her feel soft and warm on the inside.
“Are you fine? You are not hurt, right? I’m sorry it took us so long to find you.”
Damian sounded rather sweet and concerned about Rika now that they were this close. This made Rika feel tongue-tied, and she knew that she should speak something but did not know what she wanted to say.
Anything she wanted to let out of her mouth felt like it would be too much.
Ultimately, she forced herself to speak, but she doubted that these words were what Damian wanted to hear from her.
“Excuse me, but who are you, and what do you want from me? I don’t remember you much, but I know you were important to me.”
Rika told Damian, indicating that something was wrong with her memory.
The arms around her stiffened, and Damian looked at Emily for an explanation.
“She lost her memory. It’s temporary, but paying attention to her and getting her treated for now will be better.”
Emily told Damian, and he sighed before letting Rika go.
The absence of those arms felt massive. Rika even let out a shiver as soon as she was left all alone.
She just did not know what to do about this situation.
Damian noticed this, and his arms came back around Rika. It felt warm and safe in his arms, and Rika wanted to stay there.
Her bond mark was also reacting and pulsing when she smelled the pheromones in the air.
She knew these two were her bond partners and needed to know more about them. Why was her bond half-complete? Did they not properly want her? What about the child that had been in Rika’s body and she lost?
Did these two know about it? Likely not since the pregnancy had been too early.
Rika did not know how much she could speak about it and how much she needed to keep quiet.
She only knew that she had been here for about a week now and finally felt the safety she had been seeking all this time.
“Let’s go back home. If the triads have any brains left, they will not try to block our way back. Even they should not be looking for an active fight with us.”

Emily assured, and even Damian let out a familiar sight, telling Rika that he agreed with Emily.
Rika had no memory of what these two were discussing, but she figured she would be safe now. She was no longer worried about what would happen. She could live her life in peace and not worry about a thing.
…
“Finally! Damian and Emily found Rika. They said that they will be back tomorrow. It’s been a week already. God! It was an exhausting week for us all. I am so glad this search is finally over.”
Natasha made a happy face as she looked down at her food. She was glad that this search was over and Rika had been found.
As much as Natasha wanted to not give up on this search, she was tired of looking around and finding disappointment. It had even taken a toll on her mental health, making the female feel exhausted all the time.
Suzie was the only one who did not look happy with the news.
Even if she felt relieved that Rika had not died, she did not like the fact that she would return to this family and try to take her seat.
Suzie would rather have Rika remain out of the family.
“Mother, are you thinking of greeting Rika once she is back? You do know that Damian and Emily would not like it…. Can I tag along as well?”
Mark asked with a straight face.
Suzie wanted to tell him not to go, but she knew she had no right. Mark was her brother, not her lover, and she had no right to stop him from doing anything.
“You want to come with me? Sure, I am fine with it. What about you, darling? Are you going to come and meet Rika as well?”
Natasha asked her husband, and the man looked a little bit shaken.
But then he decided to shake his head as ‘no.’
“I never really got along with Rika, so I don’t want to overwhelm her now. You both go and have fun. I will stay here with Suzie. I am sure she does not want to go out either.”
