Middle Child Syndrome - Chapter 399
Chapter 399: Ch 399: An Incident
Suzie looked at the food in front of her, and her stomach gave her a weird feeling. She reached out for the food she liked, but as soon as the smell hit her, Suzie felt she needed to empty her stomach.
“Excuse me! I will be back in a moment.”
Suzie assured her family before quickly going to the bathroom and throwing up whatever she had eaten.
She could not even tell why she was feeling like this. Suzie felt alright one second, and she felt like she wanted to tear someone’s head apart the next.
And not only did Suzie have mood swings, but she also felt much hungrier than before.
There was one answer that tickled Suzie’s mind regarding her condition, but she felt too terrified to consider it an option.
‘I cannot be pregnant. I took prevention pills as soon as I could. Even if being bonded made me more resilient to pregnancy termination, I refuse to believe that I am pregnant right now.’
All signs Suzie showed pointed toward this possibility, but she ignored it and decided not to consider it. The less she paid attention to this, the more she could concentrate on other things.
For example, she was getting threats from her bond mate over the past few days.
The man was sending Suzie every threat imaginable to get her to look his way and pay attention to her. He wanted Suzie to acknowledge their bond mark and to prove to the world that he was her second half.
‘Ha! As if I will ever acknowledge that man or allow him to enter the Goodwill estate. Does he not know that he would be killed as soon as he tried to come anywhere near me? I should get him killed anyway.’
The social season was coming, and Suzie needed to look her best. She could not allow this single mistake she made to ruin her life and social standing. It would kill her.
“Suzie, dear! Are you alright? You’ve been in the bathroom for a long time now. You are worrying me! May I come in now?”
Her father asked, and Suzie panicked a little bit. She did not want to show her father her wrong side, so she needed to devise an excuse to give him.
“I…can you give me some time? I am not ready to see you for now.”
Suzie spoke softly, hoping her father’s soft heart would understand her. Luckily for her, her father stopped before he opened the door. Suzie had forgotten to lock it, and the man sighed tiredly.
“Alright, you can take your time in there, Suzie. But let me know if you need anything. I’m here to help you out, sweetie.”
The older man spoke softly, but Suzie only felt bitterness in her heart.
What could her father help with now? Everything had become a mess, making Suzie want to yell out loud against the world.
…
By the time Suzie returned to dinner, everyone else was already done with their food, and she was the only one left. She tried to swallow as much of the food as possible, but her stomach did not agree with that thought.
Neither Mark nor her mother asked her anything. They looked slightly concerned, but it was not enough to make either go out of their way and help Suzie feel better.
“By the way, I was thinking of inviting Rika to dinner tomorrow. The incident caused Rika to lose her memory, so I thought starting anew would be a good idea.
We can repair the bonds we never had, but won’t it be acceptable to get along with your sister this time?”
Natasha asked Mark and Suzie.
Mark looked ready to have Rika near him, but Suzie made a reluctant face when she heard this.
“You want to call Rika here after she’s lost her memories? Why are you doing this? This is the perfect opportunity to break away from Rika and not feel guilty, right? We should leave her alone.”
Suzie was getting too emotional because of the state, but she already felt like this.
She could not understand why her family was so hell-bent on getting Rika to reconsider and return when the older did not want to.
They should let Rika live in peace while they live their luxurious life. It was not that hard.

“Suzie! This is enough of it! We will not give up on Rika, just like we won’t give up on you if you ever lose your memory.”
Natasha yelled, now getting another headache. But this time, Suzie was not going to take it sitting down.
She was going to ask the question that had haunted her for some time now.
“But why? Rika made it more than clear that she does not want anything to do with us. Besides, there is a difference between me and Rika. I am an omega, so I deserve to be treated better-”
“I knew we should not have let you see all those dramas when you were younger, Suzie. Do you think what you saw in those things was real? Real life is not as black and white as you think, Suzie.
Sometimes, I would pick Rika over you because I like her way of doing things better. Also, you might want to get your facts straight. Rika is not a beta but an omega.
I thought you should know before Rika comes to visit tomorrow.”
Mark managed to shatter Suzie’s perfect understanding by speaking a single line. He had not meant to do that, but he wanted Suzie to know she should not talk without understanding what was happening.
Suzie looked tense, and she bit her lip to stop screaming.
‘What do you mean Rika is an omega? When did that happen? And why? How is that possible? My idea of a perfect family-! It’s shattering. This cannot be possible.’
Suzie felt so distressed that she was not even able to breathe properly. It caused her to sway where she stood before; she fell face-first onto the table.
