Chapter 400: Ch 400: Good News, Bad News
“Suzie, are you alright? Oh no, she is burning up! Hurry! We need to take her to a doctor.”
Mark felt his heart skip a beat as he watched his youngest sister fall face-first onto the table. He was unsure why this happened, but he knew he needed help.
He felt helpless as he saw his youngest sister be taken into the emergency room for a check-up. He needed to know what was wrong with her.
When the doctor emerged, his calm expression was a balm to the family’s frayed nerves. It was a sign that the news he would likely deliver would be good.
“I suppose I should say congratulations. Your daughter is pregnant, so you need to be careful about her health now. She needs her mate more than ever now, so I would advise her to contact them and ask them to return. Fortunately, she’s not in any danger since her health is good. She just fainted because she exhausted herself.”
The doctor’s reassurance brought a sense of unity to the family, but they all still felt frozen. Mark, in particular, felt a heavy weight of guilt since he was the reason why Suzie decided to sneak out of the house and get into this trouble.
He usually monitored her so these things did not happen, but he had become too preoccupied with Rika to pay Suzie any attention.
“Dear! Are you alright? You fainted all of a sudden. Was this that big of a shock to you?”
Natasha caught her husband before he could hurt himself by fainting. The older omega looked pale and lifeless.
“Oh, my poor child! To think that you have to go through this so early in life! Natasha, we need to do something. We cannot let our child suffer like this.”
Natasha bit her lip in agitation.
She knew she needed to help Suzie, and the only way to do that was to reunite her with her mate. But she also felt agitated by the situation.
The main reason someone random would have paired up with Suzie was because they wanted Goodwill fortune. And usually, Natasha would not have had such a hard time deciding what to do.
But Suzie’s pregnancy made everything much more complicated than to begin with.
“Fine, I understand. I will first divide the property. I am afraid that Suzie will have to suffice by getting only a small portion until her husband proves to be reliant. Most of her part will be divided between you and Rika, Mark.”
It was a tight decision, but this was the correct one.
She trusted Emily and Damian much more than a ‘no-name’ person. Steinz and Rodric’s business was inter-twined with the Goodwill’s, so Natasha knew they would take good care of it.
On the other hand, she had no idea if Suzie’s partner was capable of anything or if he was here only because he stuck gold and did not want to let go of it now.
“Mother, this decision-”
“I know that this is not fair. But I will give Suzie her properties back once she and her mate prove that they can handle it. I cannot let just anyone handle the Goodwill business. It includes more than just our family, after all.”
Many people depended on this business to ensure their daily lives. Natasha wanted to ensure she was not neglecting them by making a foolish decision.
Mark knew that, so he did not protest his mother’s choice.
He just knew that Suzie would have difficulty accepting what happened here.
…
“Dami, you must let Rika go and prepare to head out. We need to get to the Goodwill mansion in the next hour. Stop lazing around like this.”
Emily yelled as she pulled the covers back from over her partner’s bodies.
Damian refused to get up and tried to pull the covers back over Rika and himself. It irritated Emily to see this, so she woke him up.
Finally, the dominant alpha woke up but did not look happy.
“I know that you feel irritated with me, Dami! And you have every right to feel that way. But you also need to get up for now and get ready. We don’t want to be late for the meeting.”
Emily was wide awake and ready, and Damian finally pulled himself out of bed.

The one who did not want to get up now was Rika, which made Emily sigh tiredly.
“Rika, come on! You need to get up now. You can laze around in bed all you want after we return.”
Emily promised as she ‘tried’ to pull Rika out of the bed. But Rika clutched the covers harder and decided to pull the blanket over her head. She was not going to get out of the covers. She wanted to stay inside and not face the world.
Her determination caused Emily to sigh before she picked Rika up with the covers and took her to the bathroom.
“Well, this is your fault! Desperate times call for desperate measures.”
Rika let out a sigh as hot water washed over her body. She finally felt awake enough to tell where she was and what she was doing.
“What happened? I feel like I zoned out while I was in bed. Did you drag me out of there?”
Rika asked Emily, and the older female nodded with a tired sigh.
“Yup! It was not easy to drag you out. I felt like I was having a tough time dragging you out. But I am glad that you are feeling better now. Do you think you can raise your arm for me?”
Rika did that without thinking. It made her neck ache, so she reached to touch the hickey-covered neck.
“Don’t touch your neck, or it will make me want to cover you in even more hickies. God! It’s so difficult to hold back when you are sitting in front of me like this – covered in hickies I gave you and all.”
Emily confessed with gritted teeth. She was trying her best to hold back from biting Rika once more.
