Middle Child Syndrome - Chapter 406
Chapter 406: Ch 406: The partner
‘This feels suffocating. I want to head out now. How long will I have to witness this drama? I don’t think I ever liked being included in these situations.’
Rika felt bored and bothered at the same time.
She also felt thankful for how Emily and Damian were flanking her sides protectively because she did not like how this new alpha looked at her as if she were a piece of meat he wanted to try out.
Being the focus of that gaze made Rika feel violated and shiver, but it did nothing to deter Henry from showing interest in her.
Rika was sure that her mother and father also noticed this, but they refrained from speaking for the time being.
They were reserving judgment until Suzie decided.
Rika did not know Suzie well then, but she could tell that this man was far from Suzie’s current taste. There was no way the younger omega would accept this unnamed person as her mate.
Suzie’s pheromones hit the room before she entered. Everyone looked at her, only to see Suzie looking at the alpha in front of her with a complicated expression on his face.
“What are you doing here? I thought you wanted nothing to do with our accident.”
Suzie asked the alpha, and he quickly laughed it all off.
“I did think that I had nothing I wanted from you either. But my bond mark is bothering me a lot. It wants me always to be close to you, and it rages when you are not near me. Do you have any idea why that might be?”
The more Henry explained his sighs, the more abnormal they sounded.
Rika had read a lot about bond marks in the past few days. She wanted to know whatever she could about them, so she quickly caught up on what Herny was implying.
Suzie also seemed to know it because she flinched but quickly straightened her expression.
“I don’t know what you are talking about. I did not feel anything like what you described from my bond mark. Now, would you quickly tell me what you are here for? I don’t have much time on my hands.”
Suzie asked in a tired voice.
The omega looked like she was about to cry any second, and Rika felt just a tiny sliver of sympathy for Suzie.
“What am I here for? Do you have to ask such a basic question, Suzie Goodwill? I am here because I want to marry you and make things right. If we are stuck together for life, we might make it official, right?”
Henry asked, and a defining silence took over the place.
For a solid minute, no one moved or said anything. But then Natasha and Mark quickly moved.
Natasha grabbed Herny’s collar and held him up while Mark covered Suzie’s body with his own to hide her from Henry’s gaze.
“No way! Don’t even think about it. There is no way you are coming anywhere near Suzie. There will be no marriage between you two. I will not allow it.”
Mark was the first to reject this, as he continued to act as an obstacle between Suzie and Henry.
But Henry seemed to have expected this and did not bother getting offended.
Instead, he turned toward Rika for support.
“Hey, you think this marriage is the right idea, right? We are both bonded, meaning we will be stuck together for life. We might as well tie the knot and be a good and happy family, right?”
Not only did Henry try to make Rika the center of attention here, but this also made Suzie glare at Rika for interfering.
“Sorry! But I am not going to comment on it. This is your problem, so you need to resolve it yourself. Turning toward me for help is useless.”
Rika quickly raised her hand to show she did not care and was considering options. It made Henry look awkwardly at her, but Emily promptly saved Rika.
“We shall take our leave now. It would be best if you resolved this matter, so I wish you the best of luck. Rika, we should head out now.”

Emily flanked Rika’s back, and her taller self could hide Rika well.
The alpha also glared at Henry, and he looked taken aback by the intensity of that glare. He almost collapsed but caught himself at the right second and straightened his back.
Henry’s eyes did not leave Rika until she was out and about. But she had a feeling that this was not over yet.
‘Ugh! I have a horrible feeling that I will see that man again! Just thinking about it is enough to make me shudder. I hope I never have to see that face again.’
Rika shuddered, but she could not tell why she felt like this.
“Don’t worry! That guy is coming nowhere near you. If you see him anywhere, you can do whatever you want. Or, you can signal the people following you, and they will take care of that man for you.”
Rika blinked at Emily when she heard those words.
She felt she was being stalked but had not noticed it before. Since she was sensitive, she assumed her senses were playing tricks on her.
But it seemed like it was not the case. Her guards were stalking Rika.
‘I should feel spooked and annoyed by this, but I don’t think like that for some reason. Just how fucked up was my life?’
Suddenly, Rika did not want to regain her memories. She felt that she would remember things that she did not want to.
“Hmm, now that we are free, there is one more place I want to take you to. It was where you moved when you went out for college. Now that I remember, you told those people that you were a beta, not an omega. It could cause a problem.”
Emily spoke these words absentmindedly, but Rika felt that even knowing this would not stop her from doing whatever she wanted anyway. It would be better for Rika to accept what was happening and not ask questions
