Chapter 42: Ch 42: Selfish desires
The alpha kidnapper was over the moon with his recent selling.

“Ha! I knew that the beta bitch of the Goodwill family would bring me good luck. Even if her family did not like her, she was still a goodwill. I got good money and protection after selling her.”

The alpha kidnapper let out a joyous laugh as he enjoyed his freedom. He was in a good mood, so he stopped to refill his tank and drink a beer.

He stopped at a dark gas station in the abandoned part of the city.

“Hey, man! Why don’t you do me a favour and give me free gas and supplies? Who knows? I might feel gracious enough to let you go alive?”

The kidnapper asked with a gleeful voice as he brought his gun out to threaten the shopkeeper.

But little did he know that he was the one falling into a trap.

As soon as he entered the shop, someone knocked the gun out of his hand and forced his body to kneel.

Someone else towered above his head, and the kidnapper had to look up to see who it was.

Terror slammed into the man at once as he watched those familiar, calm, but annoying eyes looking down at him.

But unlike Rika, these eyes were filled with dominance and authority, and the pheromones that accompanied them were no different.

“Alpha Goodwill, we have secured our target. What should we do with this low-life?”

The guards asked as they continued to pour out from around the shop.

It was too late at night for any sane person to be aware. But it was clear that these goons were waiting here to ambush him.

‘Fuck! How did these people even know where to catch me? Anyway, that is not important. What I need to focus on is how to get out of here.

“Well, fancy running into you here, alpha Goodwill. May I ask you what you want from a humble and honest person like me?”

The kidnapper asked in an innocent-sounding voice. He wanted to plant doubt in these people’s minds that they got the wrong person.

But his plan did not work at all.

Instead of looking confused, the alpha in front of him looked pissed.

The kidnapper never saw the assault coming, but he felt his head crack as it was thrust toward the grand with great force.

“So, you lowlife think you can run after kidnapping one of my own? You sure are funny. But alas, I do not find your jokes to be charming.”

The female alpha made her statement known, and the kidnapper knew he was in grave danger.

‘I-I need to do something to save myself.’

The alpha knew that he needed to keep his head. But his head was in pain, and his brain was not working correctly.

“What’s the big deal? It was just a beta I messed with. It’s not like you even cared for her. You did not even bother protecting her privacy-”

The kidnapper was unable to breathe as his throat was squeezed tightly.

“How dare you presume things about me and Rika? What do you even know about us to make such assumptions-?”

“W-Well, a beta can never be f-family to people like you. I-I bet she is your last priority. I-Isn’t this a better deal for you as well? To g-get rid of your burden?”

The kidnapper was speaking nonsense now, and it made the female alpha rage even harder.

But what she did not like was the fact that a lot of her men seemed to agree with the kidnapper’s statement.

Alpha Goodwill knew that her men did not like Rika for being a beta.

They never outright said anything, but their behavior and reasons for excluding Rika from most events indicated that they did not like her.

And whenever anyone brought up her kids, her people only talked about Suzie and Mark.

It was a sour point for the alpha, but she did not know how to address it without getting angry at her people.

“Alpha, you knocked the man out. You will kill him at this rate. Maybe you should let him go now.”

One of her subordinates stepped forward to warn the female alpha about what she was doing.

Being questioned and stopped like this made Alpha Goodwill angrier than she was before.

“Does it matter? I want to kill this man for what he did to my child. If you have a problem, then come out and say it clearly.”

Alpha Goodwill asked, but no one stepped forward.

These cowards did not say anything to her on her face. But they sure did like to scheme behind her back.

“Fuck it! Throw this man in prison. I want to interrogate him tomorrow. Let him suffer until then.”

The alpha was angry, and the pack flinched at her anger. They quickly fled to carry out her orders while she took out a phone to call Emily.

She called twice, but Emily did not pick up. It made the female alpha more anxious.

But just when she was about to call more forcefully to try to find Rika, Mark called her.

“Mom, when are you coming home? Suzie awaits you. She says that she will not go to sleep until you are here. So, hurry up and come home.”

Suzie’s worry made Alpha Goodwill’s heart soften, and her desire to head home increased.

But then she looked around and remembered why she was out in the first place. She needed to find Rika and check up on her.

“I won’t be home tonight, Mark. Just take care of Suzie and go to sleep. I will not hear another world about this.”

Alpha Goodwill quickly concluded, but the phone changed owners, and Suzie grabbed it.

“Mom! Please come back home right now. I will not go to sleep until you are here. Rika can care for herself, but I want you to take care of me.”

Suzie asked, and for the first time in a long while, Alpha Goodwill felt irritated at her selfishness.
