Chapter 59: Ch 59: It’s all the same
“Are you sure you will get back home safely? It would be best if you asked me to come and pick you up. I am free so I will drive you back home.”

As soon as she heard Charon’s offer to drive her home, Rika’s heart raced, and a wave of fear washed over her.

There was no way in hell she could allow Charon to come and drive her around, especially not after the driving she had seen from the older one.

‘I would rather walk than allow Charon to drive me anywhere. I still love my life too much.’

That was how Rika felt in the heart. But she did not say these words to Charon.

Despite her inner turmoil, Rika fought to keep her voice steady and pleasant as she responded to her roommate.

“N-No! There is no need for you to come and fetch me. I think I see someone familiar in front of me now. I will call you later! Bye!”

Rika quickly cut off the phone before Charon could ask any more.

Or god forbid! She somehow managed to worm Rika’s location and came to pick her up.

Those were the endings that Rika wanted to avoid the most. Once she denied Charon’s advances, her body was filled with relief.

Just as Rika relaxed, a hand snuck around her shoulder, which caused Rika to tense up again.

She quickly tried to grab that hand looming over her shoulder, but the owner was too quick and pulled his hand back before Rika could break it.

“Oh my! You have such a quick temper. You should try to act sweeter and more docile like your sister does. That way, you will be able to fool your parents and society. Who knows? They might even think you are a scentless omega.”

Rika felt her head hurt at that familiar voice coming from behind her.

She knew she should not feel triggered, but Rocxx’s words hit too close to home. His teasing tone did nothing to lower the insult he was throwing at Rika.

“Tsk, you did not get mad and lose your temper. You are not fun to tease. Both Mark and Suzie give me such amusing reactions.”

‘I am sure they curse you out because you wound their pride with your words. Even I feel like hitting you.’

Rika wanted to growl at the older alpha, but she somehow kept her bearing and backed down. She did not want to escalate this situation.

That allowed her to pay more attention to Rocxx, and she noticed how he had a ton of bags in his hand.

It was clear that he did not come here alone.

“You were forced to come shopping. Does all these bags belong to your significant other?”

Rika asked, now trying to make small talk. She felt awkward sitting in silence, with Rocxx grinning behind her.

“Well, it will be more appropriate to say that it is *your* significant other that shopped this all. That being said, would you mind hugging me? I want to try out something-”

No sooner had Rocxx said this than another bag got thrown on his face.

This one looked heavy enough to knock the alpha back and cause his face to become imprinted by the mark.

“Stop acting out and do things your age for once. Rika, ignore this idiot. And I told you before, right? Hit him if he’s being annoying. People like him will only learn through experience.”

Emily’s voice whispered in Rika’s ear, and my arm warped around her to pull her back toward a hard chest.

Rika’s heart started to beat fast as soon as she felt that toned chest under her fingers. It felt solid, and Emily did not seem to mind.

That gave Rika…ideas she should not have, especially in a mall filled with people.

Her body was also starting to feel hot and feverish. It was not a reaction she had before that day, but it felt right.

It made Rika lean more toward Emily and her welcoming embrace. She wanted to burrow her way inside and not get out.

“Rika! Hey Rika! Are you alright? You look a little sick. Are you sure you can stand? Shall I take you back home?”

Emily asked, but only half of what she said registered in Rika’s mind.

Her mind and attention were focused on Emily’s unmarked neck and chest. Rika wanted to touch it, but something was holding her back.

“Look, Emily, I know you don’t have a good impression of me, but this was not my job this time. I will not even mess with someone you care about like this. Maybe this is a disease…Is there a sweet smell in the air? It smells…really good…”

Rocxx seemed distracted halfway through speaking and tried to reach for the source of the smell that attracted him.

His eyes immediately fell toward Emily and Rika pair.

“Emily, did you get hit on by the omegas again? They left their sweet scent all over you. Do you think that it is what affected Rika? She might be a beta, but she still gets affected by pheromones and suck, right?”

The female alpha jolted at those words and quickly picked up Rika’s unconscious body. She was quick to dash out of the mall as well.

That left Rocxx alone with all the bags with him.

“Hey cousin, we drove here together. What about me? How will I get home?”

It was not a genuine concern for Rocxx because he had a million properties nearby where he could crash. He just wanted to mess with Emily but yelled back at her.

But his cousin did not even pretend to hear him as she ran out of the building. She did not care about what he had to say.

“Fuck! Now I am stuck with all these bags and to get them home. Emily would kill me if I lost any of these bags. Fuck! What am I going to do now?”

Rocxx complained as he was left with all the bags and other things he needed to take home.
