Middle Child Syndrome - Chapter 66
Chapter 66: Ch 66: Trouble in the shop
“Hey, manager, I think you have something of ours in your shop. I would appreciate it if you hand that omega over to us. That way, no one would have to get hurt.”
The oldest-looking kid in the gang posed before his friends and everyone in the shop. He looked more like a typical bully than a gang member.
Rika had a hard time getting her breathing under control, but the pill she popped in her mouth for anxiety did help her out a lot.
‘Fuck! The doctor sure knew what he was doing when he assigned me these pills. But they make me sleepy, so I don’t like taking them.’
The pills made Rika’s mind float, but she concentrated with the help of her willpower and wanted to know what was happening around her.
“I’m sorry, but I must ask you to pay for the shop repairs and leave afterwards. People who want to disturb the peace of our shop are not welcome inside.”
Daniel spoke confidently as he positioned himself before the omega to protect her.
Everyone in the shop was paying attention to this clash, and since 90% of Rika’s customers were mafia people, she was sure they could handle it if the situation got tough.
“Ha! You are a fool! Don’t you know who I am? I am an esteemed boss of a sub-branch of the mafia. You will die if you mess with me.”
That made Rika choak.
Living in a mafia family, she had developed a sixth sense to scout out people in the mafia.
They gave them a weird feeling apart from the rest of the people. Currently, this small gang does not give off this feeling.
“Oh? You are a mafia boss, you say? What a coincidence! I am also in the mafia, but I don’t think I’ve seen you before. Would you tell me which gang you are a part of? Depending on that, I may or may not fulfil your request.”
Daniel asked, but it was clear that he was angry.
Meanwhile, Rika did her best to suppress her dislike of the omega in front of her and helped her stand up and get to safety.
The apparent distress and horror on the omega’s face made it evident that she was a civilian with nothing to do with this case.
“B-Boss, what should we do now? That man says that he is part of the mafia as well. Should we retreat for now and come back later? What if we get killed?”
One of the boss’s subordinates whispered to his boss. But the front raging alpha looked angry enough to ignore everything else being told to him.
“Mafia or not! That man is a beta, and the girl protecting our prize is also a beta. We also have the advantage of numbers. Let’s just forcefully grab that omega and go.”
The leader sounded convincing enough for the gang members to shrug and agree with him.
Rika counted about a dozen people in the gang, three of whom jumped Daniel while two came after her and the Omega.
It was clear that they thought Rika was an easy target to deal with.
‘Well, my self-defence lessons will come in handy. But man, why is this all happening to me?’
Rika sighed as she pushed the omega behind her toward a customer she did not see clearly.
“You! Could you keep the omega safe and ensure she is not hurt? I will deal with things on my end.”
Rika promised before she opened the drawer and pulled out a small stick. But little did the others realise that it was a minor tranquilliser that would knock the aggressive alphas out.
“You fucker! You might look a little cute, but you are still a beta. I do not need to be gentle with you.”
The man cursed as he attacked Rika to harm her.
“Hey, do you need any help? I can-”
The alpha, Rika, had pushed the helpless omega against and tried to call out, but Rika lazily waved her hand.

“I do not need your help. If you want to help, calm the lady in your arms. Having her here is distracting enough.”
Rika felt thankful when the smell of flowers masked the scent of the pheromones around her. Not that she could smell them, but it felt less irritating and more calming.
“Shit! Take this you fucker! I will show you a good time.”
The first alpha attacked Rika, but it was straightforward for her to turn his body around and throw him away. The tranquiliser followed seconds later.
It caused all the other attackers to freeze, and they turned to look at Rika with troubled expressions.
“Would anyone else like to try their luck? Well, I will always welcome you to come and try your luck.”
Rika grinned back at the troublemakers, but it was not pleasant. It promised harm and retribution to the people who attacked her.
It caused the teenager alphas to decide to take a step back. But their egos were too great to hold back, and they suddenly came at Rika.
Putting up with one of the attackers was easy, but two were difficult for her to handle.
But as soon as Rika knocked one of them out with the medicine, the others became easier to handle.
Someone in the shop also made a quick phone call, and Rika was sure the reinforcements would arrive soon.
No mafia leader wanted dispute in their territory, and no matter how unhinged Rocxx was, even he had a duty to fulfil.
“Tsk, this is embarrassing. Two betas are taking down all of your alphas. One of them even looked like she would die if we were too forceful with her. Just what the heck are you doing?”
The leader of this rag-tag team asked as he angrily watched his people get beaten up one-sidedly by Rika and Daniel.
In the end, the boss decided to participate in this match himself. Things were about to get serious.
