Chapter 76: Ch 76: The consequences of one’s actions
“Fine! I have no choice if you truly want me to dress like this. But can you give me a minute? I need to head to the washroom. I need to check something.”

Rika assured the pair, but Emily suddenly felt nervous for unknown reasons.

She was so distracted by Rika that most of her commonsense flew out the window. This made her desires surge, and it would not take long before Emily had to ‘take care’ of herself and Damian.

‘I am sure it will be fine. As much as I do not want to leave Rika alone, I’ve asked the staff to watch her. No matter how eye-catching Rika looks, I am sure that she would be just fine-‘

Rika had not even taken a few steps away from the pair’s side when one of the drunk patrons of the casino decided to approach her.

He smelled strongly of alpha pheromones, and his drunkenness meant that he was not able to control his senses.

“H-Hey, you! You are good-looking! How about coming with me and spending some time with me? I can make it worth your while…Woah, where are your pheromones? Is the booze messing with my head this much? *hic*. Come here and let me-”

What happened next needed to be clarified. But the motions and results were as follows.

Rika grabbed the wrist coming toward her and threw the man over her shoulder; Emily pulled Rika behind her back as soon as that drunkard ended on his back, and Damian grabbed the other alpha by his neck and raised him above the ground.

“L-Let go! I cannot breathe. Do you know who I am? Hey!”

The alpha lost consciousness within seconds once Damian grabbed him. That should have been enough, but Damian seemed to have no intention of letting that drunkard alpha go.

Rika was afraid that Damian would kill the other alpha, so she quickly turned toward Emily to see what she would do and when she would interfere. But Emily seemed to have no intention of stopping Damina.

If anything, she seemed ready to join in on the murder scene.

‘Fuck! Saying anything to these two might escalate this situation more than I want to. In that case, I should quickly save this man before he died at Damian’s hands.’

Rika moved from behind Emily and grabbed Damian’s arm to lower it.

The sudden action stunned Damian, and his instinct to resolve the new danger kicked in.

He quickly let go of the unconscious alpha and reached out toward Rika. But being friends with the alpha pair for so long meant that Rika had overcome her fear of being hurt by them.

She ducked under Damian’s arms and quickly got away from him. This confused Damian and his first instinct was to go after Rika to try to catch her.

As soon as he did that, he fell into Rika’s trap, and she took a relaxant from her purse before throwing it away.

It would be tough for her to fight Damian off, but she was confident she could subdue once she got a chance.

Or that was what she wanted to believe. But Damian was faster than Rika expected, and he grabbed her before pulling her close.

‘Shit! This is not good. I don’t think I can escape Damian’s hold like this. I guess I should get hurt a little and then wait for Damian to snap out of it-‘

*grrrrr*

Rika immediately looked toward Emily and her threatening sounds. They aimed at Damian and seemed to warn him to proceed cautiously.

Damian was no fool. He recognized a threat when he heard one, which helped him snap back, and he quickly let Rika go.

Emily reached Rika’s side as soon as her feet touched the ground.

“Are you feeling better now, Rika? Do you need me to get you anything?”

Emily asked in a worried voice as she looked Rika all over.

“No, I am fine! Daniel did not clutch me that hard. I feel a little disoriented.”

Rika assured Emily as she breathed a sigh of relief. Emily and Damian felt better, but their worried expressions did not fade.

“Maybe this dress is the problem. We took our eyes off you for one second, and this happened. I guess it’s a good thing you insisted on getting another dress to come here. It’s just a shame that you won’t be wearing this dress. I liked you seeing in this.”

Emily seemed relieved and sad that Rika would have to change her clothes.

But it only made Rika feel more relieved.

Truthfully, she would rather not be in this casino at all. But there were times when you needed to grin and bear with the consequences of what happened.

‘I am sure I will not have to stay here long. If I am lucky, I might be able to leave in an hour. At most, it might take three. But I am sure that I would be left alone soon enough.’

Rika sighed as she quickly changed into a private room and redid her hair.

This felt like too much effort for one night. Rika would not have done this for anyone but these two people.

‘The things I do for people important to me. Fuck! I cannot believe I am going to participate in this gambling house when I do not want to.’

Rika complained inside her heart, knowing that if she said anything more, Emily and Damian would let her go back.

But that was different from what Rika wanted. She had endured so much already. What was a little bit more going to do?

“Aren’t you both going to be late if you don’t move now? Are you sure you have time to be waiting around like this?”

Rika asked, and she could tell the alpha pair with her did not seem happy.

Emily seemed to be deliberating whether she wanted to say something to Rika.

But she decided to keep quiet in the end and decided not to say what she wanted.
