“You’re responsible for all of…” Adam looked at himself. “This? That I returned to the past?”

“Yes.” God Almighty sipped on his tea. “You might be asking, how is that possible? This is just a game to you. We are not real, right?”

“Well, you seem to have read my mind.” Adam said.

“If we can send your consciousness to another body, don’t you think we can send your consciousness to the past?” God Almighty said.

“That’s what you did?” Adam looked impressed. “You just sent my consciousness to the past? That’s more than impressive. Sounds impossible.”

“You were a test subject,” Little God said. “To see whether you would also fail.”

“Fail?”

Little God took a bottle from his jacket and showed that there were three small capsules inside.

“This bottle used to be full, nearly a thousand capsules.” Little God said. “Only three remaining.”

“What are those?”

“Timeline capsules.” Little God opened his hand, and hundreds of small bubbles appeared all around them.

While they were quite flashy, only three of them were able to see them as the rest of the folk in the afterlife just walked past them without noticing anything out of the ordinary.

Inside those bubbles, all you could see was death—corpses—some were blown to pieces, some cut in half, some burned beyond recognition.

However, all of them were the same person—Adam.

“Those are me?” Adam’s eyes trembled. “From other timelines, but I’ve died on those?”

“Mm, over a thousand deaths.” Little God nodded. “They didn’t regress to the past like you did. You were the first one that we tested on.”

“You were the first one to learn Little God’s skill.” God Almighty said. “Because of that, we gave you a chance to be a ‘hero’ that stops the advancement of evil.”

“However, it seems like you’re about to fail.” Little God said and showed the three capsules. “You’ve got three more tries. You’ve now gotten closer than ever before, but you still failed.”

“Can’t you get me out of here?” Adam asked. “To get me back to the New World?”

“What for?” God Almighty asked. “Alastor will find you and kill you again and again. This timeline deteriorated quicker than others. It should’ve taken decades for Alastor to return.”

“This timeline has been horrible.” Little God said. “It might’ve been because of your insane rate of growth that everything in here sped up the procession.”

“So what now?” Adam asked. “You will open up those three timelines and leave me here?”

“It seems like the only choice.” God Almighty said. “You will have to trust that this is for the greater good.”

Adam silently sat on his chair, deep in thought.

“Yet, you came here to meet me; why?” Adam asked.

“Well, there is something we two don’t agree in.” God Almighty said. “Little God thinks that we should give you the power of other deceased Adam’s.”

“The deceased? Power from them?” Adam pointed at the bubbles. “They’re all dead.”

“Yeah, but you would get the power when they were still alive.” God Almighty said. “However, some of them died while they were still in tutorial; some died very early in the New World, but a few got further.”

“Oh, and how much stronger would that make me?” Adam asked out of curiosity.

“You might be able to reach Exalted Lord, barely.” God Almighty said. “Just barely while Alastor is at the absolute peak of Exalted Lord. He is God, but he can’t use those powers in the mortal realm, so Exalted Lord is as high as he can be at the moment.

“However, more he turns the land into the Old World, stronger he will get. In a couple of years, he will definitely reach Godhood-level strength again.

“So you can see why I am very much against giving you the strength of those timelines because the other three timelines might need them more than you.

“They might have even more potential for growth and development than you are.”

“My counterargument is that this is the closest you’ve ever reached.” Little God said. “Those three timelines have small chances, even if we also regress them.”

‘Right, they talked about transferring consciousness to other bodies.’ Adam thought. ‘So, are these two actually employees of the mysterious company that did Mortal Online?

‘Is this the new technology that they’ve worked on?’

“He pretty much knows it all already.” God Almighty waved his hand. “Might as well shove more information down his throat.”

“This world is a parallel universe.” Little God showed around. “About eleven years in this timeline’s years, a human managed to open a portal to our world.

“With a machine called a virtual reality pod. It sounded quite fascinating. The human’s name was Julian, and he became the first human to visit our universe using this technology.

“We thought of a crazy idea.

“We made him create more of these virtual reality pods so more people like him can visit our world. However, Julian was hesitant.

“Humans would come with guns in hand if they advertised this as a parallel world, so he had the crazy idea of calling this place ‘game’.

“We were on board of that, but we also had different plans for ‘players’ such as yourself. Since your bodies were ‘fake’ ones that traversed to this universe, we thought of using all of you as our very own hunting squad.

“To protect the lives of Originals that had been pushed to the edge of the exctinction by the Chaosbeings.

“We gave you strength.

“That’s the secret behind this world.”

“Whew…” Adam took a long breath. “That’s crazy…”

“So, that—”

Before he could finish, Adam raised his hand.

“Can you… send me to another timeline?”

“…” Little God silently turned to God Almighty and asked. “Why? There is nothing left on those timelines.”

“Send me to the timeline where this me.” Adam pointed at himself. “Died.”

“What for?”

“Let me save myself.” Adam said. “And restore that timeline.”

“That timeline is already dead.” Little God said. “You didn’t grow strong fast enough.”

“I know, I am not saying that he can reach Exalted Lord, but…” Adam said. “I believe in myself. I believe he can reach High King. Then, if you give all timeline powers to me, that should push me closer to the peak of Exalted Lord, right?”

“…” God Almighty looked at the Little God, and both shrugged their shoulders.

“Well, that timeline you will still end up dying later on.” Little God said. “That timeline is still doomed, but we can see how far his strength reaches, so I am on board trying this.”

“Fine then.” God Almighty touched Adam’s forehead. “We’ll send you there—to the future.”

With a flash of light, Adam’s eyes widened open, and he felt like his consciousness was stretching far like rubber.

After the light passed, all he could hear was the rattling of carriage wheels.
