Chapter 188: 188- Marissa’s Fingerprint
Valerie was fidgeting her fingers in nervousness. She was shaking her left leg in anxiety and Nina was getting irritated by it.
“Can you stop doing that?” She glared at her in warning
“They might throw us out, Nina. Don’t you remember how Mark said that being a pink card holder, we can’t step in this area?”
“Oh, that’s bull shit!” Nina turned to face her this time, “I think you need to let it go, Val. Nobody would dare to touch us.”
Valerie rolled her eyes upwards. The people sent to the Diamond floor must be cursing Nina and her.
As their boss, Nina should have supported them but decided to ditch them instead.
“Nina. At least go there and console them,” she advised Nina and found another glare shot at her.
However, Valarie wasn’t in the mood to get intimidated, “Nina. I think you need to understand something. If Marissa can send them there, then she can bring them back too.”
Nina got up from her seat in annoyance, “I’m getting tired of your negativity, Valerie. Get it out of your fuc*king head that Marissa is someone important. And by the way,” Nina placed her hand on her hip, “Why are you dictating me what to do? I was planning to involve you alongside Kate. Why don’t YOU go down and discuss it with them? After all, it’s the tasks, we should be interested in. Not the floor.”
Valerie wished she could slap the bitch.
I am not here to work. I am here to make Rafael mine and send Marissa home.
I can’t do it by staying on a different floor.
Right at that instant, the door to the biggest conference room opened and Dean came outside to talk to a janitor.
“Dean,” Nina raised her hand to get his attention. While talking to the janitor he nodded in their direction and came up to them.
“Yes, Mrs. Sinclair?” he asked wearily.
“Dean. Where is my son? I need to talk to him,” Nina held his hand, “Ever since we are here, he hasn’t given us enough time.”
Dean shrugged nonchalantly, “Mrs. Sinclair. This is your family matter. What can I say?” he hooked his thumbs in his pockets.
Valerie could see his blue eyes through his glasses. There was no sign of sympathy there for Nina. She wondered, how much he knew about them.
Valerie had observed that he was quite close to Marissa.
“Parents do so much for their kids. I don’t know why they ditch their parents once they are all grown up,” Nina complained no one in particular.
She was trying to get Dean’s empathy while Dean seemed to turn a deaf ear to her whining.
Dean still didn’t remark. He was here for work, not to listen to some foolish emotional family story. Valerie wanted to laugh at Nina.
Why always so dramatic?
Why does she treat everyone, as she treated Marissa in the past?
“We aren’t even allowed to get inside his office,” Nina pointed towards the office handle where a light was blinking.
The president used to enter the building through a private elevator. No one was allowed to enter the office except those who had access by finger impression.
Obviously, the finger impression option must be for Rafael, Joseph, and Dean.
Valerie peeked inside the conference room from where Dean came out and left the door ajar. Marissa was sitting there in the head seat. She was talking to a man whose name was perhaps Shang Chi.
She leaned back into her chair and started playing with the pen with a relaxed smile. Oddly, Marissa’s face reminded Valerie how she had a tear-streaked face when she got to know, Valerie was back in that hospital room.

The way she tried to stand for herself in that hospital room and asked Rafael to listen to her. That time no one took her seriously.
Now look at her!
How confident she looked. As if… as if she didn’t give a flying fu*ck what they might do to her.
This time, the tables were turned. This time it seemed like she didn’t need anyone. Nothing.
She was an independent woman and could take anyone down with a single blow.
Thankfully she doesn’t have babies. Sigh! Thanks to Nina who kept giving her medicine so that she would not conceive.
Otherwise, with a kid in the picture, Rafael could prefer her. Being childless has done so much damage to Valerie and Rafael’s relationship.
Nina was right. Once the baby was in the picture Rafael wouldn’t be able to do anything against her.
But how to get closer to Rafael?
Soon Nina would become her enemy. Right after getting rid of Marissa, Nina won’t take time to kick her out. Before that, she needed to get pregnant.
She was so busy thinking about all of this, that she didn’t realize, she had been staring at Marissa. She must have felt her gaze on her face because, after a few minutes, she turned her head and looked straight into her eyes.
Is she raising her brow at me? Valerie asked herself.
She was expecting Marissa to look away, just like she used to do since childhood. But hell!
No!
She held her gaze like a true lioness.
Valerie felt discomfort in the pit of her stomach.
Does earning their own money make women so strong and so bold that they could look you in the eye and knock you down?
Valerie didn’t want to do it, but she peeled her gaze from Marissa’s face and turned her attention to Dean.
After talking to Nina, Dean was about to walk away when Valerie held his hand to stop him, “Dean! Listen!”
He passed a questioning look to her. Her mouth opened and closed again and again in order to let the words out of her mouth.
Nina was looking at her in irritation.
“C-Can y-you ask Rafael to … give us access to his office?” she asked him, fluttering her lashes, mustering some puppy innocence.
Dean gently freed his hand from her grip, “You need to talk about it to Mr. Sinclair directly, Ms. Valerie. Mr. Rafael won’t appreciate it if I’ll give him the message as your messenger.”
Valerie felt odd. He didn’t call her Mrs. Sinclair but Valerie.
Nina nodded, agreeing with Dean, “He is right, Valerie,” Nina squeezed her hand secretly with a meaningful smile.
When Dean left, Nina whispered in her ear, “How about we go to Rafael’s hotel, and talk to him?”
It was a great idea. Yeah. She would visit Rafael at his hotel and talk to him about all the office politics. She would let him know that she was ready to make up for her mistakes and come back to him.
She wasn’t a fool to present her gorgeous husband to Marissa on a platter.
Marissa came out from the conference room with her teammates who were more like her minions.
Without sparing a glance their way, she reached the President’s office door. A smirk appeared on Nina’s face when she saw Marissa struggling with the door handle.
You might be allowed to use to VIP route, bitch but this lock needs your finger impression! Valerie thought with a wide smile but then the smile faltered when Dean came closer and asked Marissa to place her finger there.
With a clicking sound, the door opened. Even Marissa seemed shocked.
Nina and Valerie saw her going inside the office with a big grin and closing the door behind her, with their mouths hung open.
Her access wasn’t denied.
Her fingerprint was accepted by the machine
