Chapter 214: 214- Sh*it or Po*op!
Marissa was trying hard to suppress the giggles erupting in her throat.
“it’s… it’s just a t-shirt, Rafael,” how could she convince him, when her heart wasn’t convinced?
“I was looking for it, this evening. You get enough salary from MSin. Buy your own shirts, woman,” seeing him exasperated was making it funnier.
“Uh? Sorry. They are more comfy,” she shrugged and stuck out her tongue.
He looked behind her and turned a little somber, “Hey, Sophie.”
Sophie was balancing pizza boxes along with bottles of nonalcoholic drinks, “Hi. How are you handsome?”
“I’m good, beautiful!” Rafael winked, sending a flying kiss in Sophie’s direction. She groaned and placed the stuff on the bed.
“Pizza?” she offered him before putting the slice on the plate.
“Nah! I already had dinner,” he scratched his head, “You two enjoy!”
“Yeah, sure. By the way, I’ve got the Speed Racer installed on the TV. If you want to lose by a good margin, come over,” Sophie mocked him lightly with a straight face.
“Look at you!” Marissa who was eating her pizza giggled.
“Hey, Rafael. Marissa is crazy about Mario Brothers. If you want to win play with her,” Sophie said with a taunt. Rafael eyed Marissa with wide eyes.
“Really? Why did you never tell me that? I’ll install the games on the smart TV.”
“Smart TV?” Marissa’s said with a full mouth, “Which one? The one you have in the hotel?”
“No, Strawberry. The office one!”
“Oh, God! You are planning to install her favorite games? In your office TV?” Sophie’s eyes went wide like saucers.
“Yeah,” he said gently, “Anything for her.”
When the call disconnected, Sophie had fallen back on the pillow with a dreamy look in her eyes, “Did he call you strawberry?”
She squealed like a baby, “My God Marissa. This man is a keeper. Don’t let him go!”

The evening had gone as planned. After watching the movie, Sophie went to the bathroom while Marissa got busy with her phone.
There was no message from Rafael.
“Already missing him?” Marissa hurriedly placed her phone aside when saw Sophie coming out of the bathroom.
This time her friend didn’t force her for any explanations and laid on the bed beside her. They were staring at the ceiling busy in their thoughts.
Sophia shifted onto her side, propping her head up with one hand as she glanced over Marissa. Her friend’s eyes were still observing the ceiling.
“You are thinking about him. Aren’t you?” her voice might be gentle, but Marissa had felt the teasing edge in it.
Her brows furrowed slightly as she turned her head to meet Sophie’s gaze, “Who are you talking about?” she asked, feigning innocence. But the slight quiver of her lips gave it all away.
Sophie shook her head, giving a gentle nudge to her friend, “Stop playing dumb. You know very well who I’m talking about.”
Marissa paused for a minute and eyed the woman who escaped Sangua City just because her life was also in danger.

She stayed beside her like a rock and never left her side.
She deserved to know the truth.
“I’m scared!” Marissa’s whisper floated in the dimly lit room. Sophie got up and sat on the bed, cross-legged.
“Scared? Marissa. We have come a long way. Why would you be scared?”
When Marissa stayed quiet, she held her arm, “Is it because of Nina? Or is it, Valerie?”
Marissa flinched at the mention of the names.
“It’s because of Rafael,”
When Sophie frowned, Marissa also got up and exhaled a long breath.
“What about him, Mar? Don’t you see? His eyes follow you wherever you go. And I’m sure this happens in the office too.”
Marissa nodded, not saying anything.
“What if he will leave me again?” Marissa asked her in a teary voice. And in an odd way, she reminded Sophie of Alex. He might have taken his looks from his father, but the little boy was also scared of Rafael’s presence in his life.
The girls might have accepted Rafael by heart, but Alexander and Marissa were fighting the same battle every day.
“Why would he leave you, girl? You’re the mom of his kids. Mom to the Sinclair heirs. Not one, not two but three most amazing kids!”
Marissa shrugged and wiped her face. Sophie got up to bring her some water. When she handed her the glass, Marissa was feeling much better.
“Thanks,” she placed the glass on the nightstand after taking a few sips and held Sophie’s hand forcing her to sit on the edge of the bed.
“When he is with me, he is super caring. But not once did he try to confront Valerie or Nina.”
“Did you ask him the reason?”
Marissa shook her head, “No. I didn’t. He is back in our lives after five years. What if he would leave me again after the confrontation?”
“So what? Even if he leaves you, you know how to live now. You are already an accomplished entrepreneur of Kanderton. You can easily raise your kids.”
“No. It’s not the same, Soph. Everything has changed since his return. Kids don’t need his money. They need their father in their lives.”
“And he will be there. I’m sure of that, Mar. Did you ask him why he does that?” She asked her and Marissa didn’t have an answer to that.
“You should have asked her. In every relationship, the key factor is communication. He is a great guy. Talk to him. Ask him. If those kids need him, he also needs them. He is a doting father, and I don’t think he would abandon his kids again.”
“Do you think he might flare up and become rude to me?”
“If he flares up then that’s not your problem. If he has got a pea-sized brain, then good riddance. Instead of giving a big shock to the kids later, better take the big step now.”
Sophie had a point.
Every decision Marissa was taking, regarding the event or MSin. Rafael was encouraging her. He was making things easy for her, but till now there wasn’t any confrontation or questioning from his side for his mom and his wife.
“I’ll talk to him. Now is the time, he needs to choose a side. Either it’s me or that shitty Nina and that poopy Valerie!”
Marissa said with a grave face and Sophie couldn’t stop the laughter.
“What? You are calling them shitty and poopy? Haha.”
However, Marissa couldn’t smile. For her, those women were not less than a piece of shit or poop.
