Chapter 220: 220- Valerie Insulted Her Again
Nina leaned back in her seat, watching Andrew from beneath her lashes. Her fingers curled around the stem of her half-empty wine glass.
Thanks to the dim lights of the club that had helped in making her face unreadable. Andrew was eyeing her casually, swirling his whiskey in his glass.
There was a playful grin on his face that Nina was trying hard to ignore. She had told him already that she couldn’t accompany him because she was with Valerie. Now the same daughter-in-law was nowhere in sight.
Nina thought of her, gritting her teeth secretly.
“You know?” he began in a teasing voice, “Why don’t you just leave your daughter-in-law here? Just… let her enjoy the night,”
Like a desperate kitten, Nina again looked at the bar counter where Valerie had disappeared.
“She is probably off dancing somewhere, having the time of her life,” he drawled.
The man had a point. Valerie left the table to get their drinks and drinks could never take that long.
“You don’t need to babysit her, Mrs. Sinclair. Why don’t you change your mind and come with me instead?” He was leaning ahead, his eyes never leaving hers, “White Palace is just a ten-minute drive away. Don’t you want to see it from inside?”
Yes. Yes. I want to see it from the inside! And I’m also interested in buying it.
Her insides were screaming but she didn’t want to act as a despo in front of him. Her gaze flickered towards the bar, there was still no sign of Valerie.
Her fingers tightened around the glass.
Even if Val was busy enjoying, she could have at least let Nina know. The crowd was thickening with each passing minute.
No matter what Valerie did to her, she couldn’t take the risk of making her mad. She was an important key to shoo Marissa away from their lives.
She wanted the two sisters to get busy in killing each other while Nina could ask Geena to take care of Rafael.
Andrew followed her gaze to the bar and chuckled, “Come on. She isn’t a baby,” he repeated, “Take your mind off her. Let your son deal with her. We can make our plans if you’re interested,” he said with an easy smile.
Nina hesitated, biting her lips as she weighed her options.
White Palace or Valerie?
Valerie was important for her plans, but she couldn’t quit enjoying her life. Moreover, she wanted to see the legendary White Palace.
This man could tell her who bought it. If there wasn’t any final contract drawn, then she could persuade him to sell it to her.
And then she reminded herself one more thing. Last time, Valerie left her all alone in that restaurant, not caring how disrespected Nina could feel. Why should Nina care now?
Tonight, she wouldn’t hesitate to leave Valerie either. Just this time, she wanted to take revenge. Later she could come up with any excuse.
Right?
She swirled her wine, bringing the glass to her lips as she took a slow sip. She could feel his waiting eyes on her face.
She felt like, he could sense her internal struggle and was amused by it.
“You deserve a little fun, Nina,” His tone might be soft, but she could detect coaxing.
Nina glanced at him, her gaze lingering on his lips that had a confident smirk. She exhaled a long breath and tried to ease the tension off her shoulders.
“Maybe you are right,” she said finally, “She can handle herself and I should remember that she isn’t my baby, and I am not her mommy.”
He grinned, clearly pleased with her decision. Placing his glass down with a clink, he stood up, and offered his hand to her, “That’s my girl! Let’s get you out of here.”

Nina hesitated for a moment, her eyes darted back to the crowd once more.
Sorry, Valerie. But I tried. White Palace needs me.
With a small, sigh, she placed her hand in his and rose from her seat.
“Let’s go!” her voice was firm now.
She could feel Andrew’s arm around her when they were moving to the exit. The music was still pounding and now it was giving her a headache.
She couldn’t wait to get out of here when suddenly, someone stepped right in front of her.
“Mrs. Sinclair?” a middle-aged woman called her name and Nina didn’t remember where she had seen her.
Nina halted, her eyes narrowing at the woman. Because of her Andrew had also stopped, and his grip had loosened slightly.
“Hello, ma’am. I’m Delinda,” the woman looked nervous.
“Y-yes?” Nina had somewhat guessed that she was an employee at MSin. She wasn’t in the mood to talk about some damn work, standing in the Night club.
“I didn’t know you were also here. Thank God for that!” she was fidgeting her fingers, “It’s about Valerie.”
Nina’s gaze snapped up to her face when she heard the name.
“What about Valerie? Where is she?”
“That’s what I’m telling you, ma’am. I don’t know what got into her. But one minute we were talking and the next minute her face turned pale, and she ran towards the exit.”
“What?” Nina frowned.
“Yes, ma’am. It seemed like something had spooked her. She left in a hurry and I just thought…” she shrugged, “Well! I just thought you should know.”
Nina’s mood shifted immediately. Her face was flushed, and her grip tightened on Andrew’s arm, “What!” she hissed.
Disbelief and humiliation were evident on her face.
Valerie had done it again. She had left her behind again when they were here because of her. Wasn’t it Nina’s turn to leave the place first so that Valerie could taste her own medicine?
Nina stole a gaze at Andrew and tried to find judgment on his face. He was casual and calm about it, but Nina was having difficulty wrapping her head around it.
By leaving her behind, Valerie had not only insulted her again but also belittled her existence in front of Andrew.
