Chapter 221: 221- Do It In A Bedroom!
Sophia looked at the couple, observing different expressions playing across their faces.
Marissa had a flustered look on her face and Sophie felt like her friend might die of embarrassment.
On the other hand, Rafael was beaming. There was no sign of any guilt for what he was doing to Marissa in the kitchen.
They were sitting on the floor drinking beer, that Sophie just brought for them.
Discussing intimacy and boyfriends with your best friend who was more than a sister to you, was one thing, and witnessing her being eaten by a hot guy was another.
“You could have used your room,” Sophie grumbled to no one in particular, avoiding eye contact with either of them. Marissa was the only one among the three, who was just holding the beer can and wasn’t interested in drinking from it.
Sophie finished hers and almost tossed it aside. It dropped on the floor with a clanking sound.
Marissa who was quite possessive about her kitchen, gave her friend a sharp look. Sophie shot a warning glare in her direction that said,
Don’t you dare comment about this trashy can when a few minutes back you were being naughty in the same kitchen.
She eyed Marissa’s can that she was holding and raised her brow, “If you aren’t drinking it then I won’t mind having another.”
“Wait. I’ll bring another one,” Rafael got up but Marissa stopped him.
“Stay here. Let me fetch it,” She got to her feet and left the kitchen as if she were looking for a chance to escape the spot.
Sophie felt more awkward in Marissa’s absence. She looked up, only to find Rafael staring at the door where Marissa had just scurried away.
“What is going on here?” Rafael was taken aback by Sophie’s stern tone.
“Excuse me?”
“What excuse me? The gal is asking you a simple query. What’s going on between you two?” she asked him in a no-nonsense tone.
After inhaling enough Oxygen, he calmed his nerves, “I mean… what kind of question is that?”
Sophie gave him a hard look and decided to be honest about it, “Your body is giving love vibes, mister Rafael Sinclair.”
Rafael, who was raising the can to his mouth, stopped mid-action, “What did you say?”
He got serious and placed the can on the floor.
This girl wasn’t the same Sophie, he had just befriended a few weeks back. She had become the girl, he met five years ago, who was determined to keep her friend safe no matter what the consequences were.
“Don’t pretend that you didn’t hear me, Rafael. You heard me the first time. Now tell me. What’s going on between you two? Because she might take it all wrong. Again!”
Rafael clenched his jaw for a moment but then tried controlling his emotions, “I’m myself confused…” he trailed off when she didn’t let him finish.
“Confused? Are you serious? My friend is getting closer to you day by day and you’re confused?” for a moment she thought she saw a glimpse of admiration in his eyes for her.
“The confusion isn’t about getting closer. The confusion is about my increasing obsession for her.”
What? Sophie blinked.
Obsession?
“You are obsessed with Marissa?”
“Damn,” he cursed under his breath, “Yes. I am.”

Sophie regarded his face for a few moments that was gleaming with some alien emotion.
“Aren’t you… in love with her?”
Rafael shrugged at that, “Why are you asking?”
“I’m asking because it’s my friend whose mental health is at stake, Rafael,” she said gently, “Leave her again and see what I’ll do to you,” she snarled, taking him by surprise.
“Woah. Girl! Hold your horses. I’m not leaving her again… until…” he raised his shoulders in mischief and Sophie’s brows knitted in confusion.
“Until? Until, what?”
“Until death do us part,” his answer made her gasp.
“Stop talking rubbish, Rafael,” she said and for some reason didn’t like it.
Why was he talking about death?
So, one thing was clear. He wasn’t here to leave Marissa in the middle of nowhere.
“What about women of your family? Nina and Val!” Sophie was repeatedly eyeing the door from where Marissa could emerge anytime.
The gentleness that was there on Rafael’s face while talking about Marissa was replaced by hardness, “Valerie isn’t the woman of my family. My mom is.”
“Ok!” Sophie nodded.
This was good.
At least he didn’t take that vile woman as his wife. That was indeed a good sign.
“Whatever. When are you planning to confront them?” Sophie wanted to pat her back for asking him such personal questions that were supposed to stay between Marissa and him.
His patience was commendable.
“I’ll confront them at the right time,” what kind of response was that?
“Right time?” she repeated, and he nodded, “Yeah. Confrontation won’t happen unless I make her strong enough to fight people.”
Sophie was aware of who he was referring to as ‘her’.
“Are you suggesting that … she is going to sign up for a wrestling diploma?” she asked pointedly. He looked at her and then throwing back his head, he laughed hard.
God! Marissa scored big time. He looks drop-dead gorgeous with this easy laughter.
“No, Sophie. She won’t need a wrestling diploma. I’ll make her so strong that soon she will be hitting everyone’s ass.”
They both got quiet, and Marissa came inside holding beer cans, “Sorry for being late, guys. I needed to pee.”
Rafael stood up from the floor and stretched his arms, “Maybe some other day. You girls can enjoy yourselves,” he picked up his phone and saw the time.
“Are you leaving?” Marissa placed the cans on the counter. The disappointment in her voice made him smile. Sophie also got up feeling guilty that maybe Rafael was leaving due to her offensive interrogation.
“Yes, strawberry,” this time he didn’t care that Sophie was watching them. He wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her for a kiss, “I’ll be back tomorrow, and we can have breakfast together. After that, I need to take you somewhere.”
Marissa opened her eyes when the kiss was over. It was short but sweet.
“Where? I hope it’s not that beach!” she rolled her eyes and Rafael grinned, kissing her cheek this time.
“Beach is on the list but tomorrow I want to take you to a place that might be important for both of us. It’s a surprise.”
He then winked at Sophie, “Remember to knock next time before entering a kitchen.”
Sophie took a sigh of relief. He wasn’t angry.
“Please. Do it in a bedroom!” she said with a dismissive wave causing him to chuckle and making Marissa blush.
“Still, you need to knock,” he said stubbornly, side-hugging Sophie before leaving, “Don’t worry about that talk,” He quickly whispered in her ear, “I’m happy that Marissa has gotten a true friend. She is lucky to have you.”
He pulled back and nodded at Marissa, “Be ready, little Greene. And sleep tight,”
He pressed a soft kiss to her forehead, before turning to leave. When Marissa titled her head, she found a dreamy look on Sophie’s face,
“Marissa!” she spoke in a state of awe, “He is a genuine man. Sleep with him, bitch!”
