Chapter 225: 225- The Royal Family
A smile crawled on her lips when she heard the chattering of her kids. From the back seat. They were discussing BTS army and Ariel seemed obsessed with it.
Alex was arguing with his sister because he didn’t understand the hype.
“They are boring!” he made a face and Marissa had to suppress her smile.
“They are nothing just a common boy band,” Abi sided with her brother.
“They aren’t just any boy band,” Ariel shot back, her voice rising a little, “They are legends.”
Alex started laughing at the statement.
“Legends? Seriously?” Abi had also joined her brother and Ariel stuck out her tongue in irritation.
Marissa heard Rafael’s chuckle. He was also enjoying the banter.
“They must be hungry,” Marissa said looking ahead at the empty road. Rafael tilted his head a little and smiled.
“Emily gave them apples before sending them with me. Their energy should stay till breakfast,” he rounded a corner and Marissa could see the familiar outskirts.
“This route is the White Palace route,” Alex exclaimed from the backseat. The girls had also gotten quiet.
“Daddy,” Abi’s voice filled the car, “Are we going for grocery shopping?” in the kids’ little minds, White Palace only appeared when they used to go to the grocery Mart.
Marissa also gave a questioning glance to Rafael who was smiling and not responding to the kids.
Marissa didn’t ask him anything. This was meant to be a surprise and she did have the idea that they were not going to some restaurant.
The sky was still dark and very slowly a soft light was beginning to show in the sky. A sign that the darkness was slowly fading away.
The sky was turning a dark shade of gray, and Marissa could feel the quietness of their surroundings.
She was feeling at peace enjoying the quiet moments. Guess what?
The calmness seemed to be short-lived because suddenly Rafael took a sharp turn, off the main road, steering the car onto a narrow track.
The familiar landscape was changed as they were now driving onto a private road. Here there was no other property, but the White Palace ahead.
The kids in the back seat had fallen unusually silent now. After a few seconds, Ariel broke it, “Daddy. Are we going somewhere near the White Palace?”
Marissa glanced at Rafael again whose expression was unreadable. Finally, a slow intense smile was beginning to form on his face.
She felt her chest tighten.
Where was he taking them? Of course, he was rich, and he could afford it.
“Oh! Don’t tell me!” she breathed out the words.
“Don’t tell you what?” he teased her with a smirk.
“D-did you book… the property… t-to … I mean… is it booked … f- for our breakfast?” her voice was barely above a whisper.
The memories of all those evenings came crushing back to her when during her pregnancy she used to visit the place along with Sophie.
How Sophie used to tease her that one day she might buy it. They used to bring sandwiches and coffee in a thermos and sit outside the main gate to have some time in peace.
Even the guards knew them and used to allow them good-naturedly, wishing Marissa a happy pregnancy.

Sophie thought they allowed them due to her big tummy and swollen face which they found cute.
Rafael had taken another sharp turn now, speeding up the trail that was lined with tall trees on either side. Moments later the car came to a halt in front of massive metal gates.
Rafael honked and two guards appeared who not only saluted them but also opened the gates for them.
“Daddy,” Alex almost whispered, “You arranged our breakfast here?” he seemed thoroughly impressed.
“Sort of,” Rafael looked at him through the rearview mirror and winked.
Marissa heard innocent gasps from the back seat when the car entered and stopped near the state-of-the-art building.
Rafael got down and opened the door for the kids, helping them with their seat belts. Marissa stayed in her seat, almost forgetting that she needed to get out of the car.
Rafael opened her passenger door, and bent down to unbuckle the seat belt, “Surprise!” he muttered before tucking her hair strand behind her ear. It plopped back on her forehead.
“Y-you booked it? That must be hell expensive!” she said looking at his face that was too close to hers.
The kids had already started running around.
The door to the residence opened and a few uniformed people came out of the door.
“Caretakers?” she asked Rafael and he straightened with a nod, helping her out of the car.
“The newly appointed servants!” he said watching her face closely.
Her sole focus was on the garden on the left and the building.
“Hello ma’am,” she spun around when heard the familiar voice.
“Oh, Emily! You are here?” Marissa was pleasantly surprised. She managed to reach before them.
“Yes, ma’am. Mr. Sinclair asked me to reach here,” She bent her head a little and Marissa wanted her not to do that.
She was Marissa Aaron. An ordinary woman. She wasn’t some royalty who would expect her helpers to bow to her.
As they entered the house, Marissa looked around admiring the interior of the living room. The plush sofas, the delicate artwork on the walls, and the chandeliers hanging above.
“This is so beautiful,” Abi clasped her hands with innocence, “just like we watch in the Disney movies. I never knew, White Palace was a true palace.”
Rafael picked her up and kissed her cheek, “This is a real palace, and my daughters are the real princesses.”
He then cupped Alex’s cheek, “Do you agree, Prince Alexander?”
The girls started giggling however Marissa couldn’t join them.
Why did Rafael decide to spend so much money just to have breakfast here? Like, yes. She was fond of the property but that didn’t mean they had to waste money to have meals here.
She glared at Rafael who was busy having fun with kids. They needed to have a serious discussion over this.
There wasn’t any need to spoil the fun right now so she tried to mingle, “Can we have a tour of the property?”
He turned to her, and Marissa could see that for some reason he was beaming, “We are all starving, so we need to fix something for breakfast first.”
Fix something for breakfast?
