Chapter 228: 228- Fun in MSin Palace
When Rafael came inside, he found Marissa placing plates before the kids. Emily had already made them sit.
“Wow. You’re back,” Marissa said excitedly and smacked his shoulder, “Now help me, in placing this stuff, mister.”
Rafael felt guilt creeping into his heart. All the stuff he was doing around, was for her. But she wasn’t aware of it.
She had the right though.
But he couldn’t bring himself to admit it in front of her.
“Sure, strawberry,” he went inside the kitchen to collect the soup pot.
“This is the best breakfast ever!” he smiled when heard Alexander’s voice coming from the living room.
He had finally started enjoying his father’s presence in his life.
Rafael joined his family at the table and felt awkward and happy at the same time. An odd combination.
This was his family. He was responsible for their happiness and mental health, and he promised himself to do that all his life.
But why his heart wasn’t at peace?
He tilted his head to look at Marissa who was offering vegetable Omelette to Emily.
“Rafael! Aren’t you hungry!” Marissa tapped his plate with her spoon. Rafael couldn’t even smile.
When are you going to forgive me, Marissa? When will you accept me as your husband? He asked the questions to himself.
And the answer didn’t come from Marissa. It came from his head on behalf of Marissa,
When you will tell the world that I’m your wife, Rafael! The world knows nothing about my status, Rafael.
It all happened in his head. The questions and the answers. Marissa was now offering him the hot soup bowl, suggesting him to have it as they were already having a late breakfast.
He took out his phone and typed a message for Dean, “Arrange a meeting with a top-notch lawyer who is an expert in family law.”
He needed to sort this shit out.
In his haste, without thinking, he put a spoonful of hot soup in his mouth and groaned in pain.
“Rafael!” Marissa at once dropped her napkin and got to her feet. A servant who was standing close by brought a bucket of ice cubes.
Marissa pushed one into his mouth, “Who does that?” her finger was slowly stroking his lips and he wanted to close his eyes in bliss.
The skin between his brows knitted when his phone pinged. It was Dean.
“The meeting is this evening, Sir. And yes. Congratulations. You are officially sitting in the MSin Palace.”
Joseph was right when he told Rafael that Dean was a magician.
“Who was here to meet you?” Marissa asked him, putting a piece of French toast in her mouth. The syrup was smudged on the corner of her mouth and all Rafael wanted to do was wipe it with his tongue.
“An acquaintance,” he smiled and started cleaning the syrup with his thumb. The servant stepped forward with hot wet towels stacked on the silver tray, but Rafael dismissed it with his hand.
“I don’t want a towel when I can do the things with my fingers and my hands,” he locked eyes with Marissa, and this time she didn’t break the eye contact but leaned ahead to whisper,
“Yeah. And your mouth too!” she pulled back with a mischievous grin and nodded at him. She was enjoying the bewildered look on his face

“Daddy. Can we play in the garden?” Alex got to his feet with Ariel following him. Rafael signaled Emily to keep an eye on Abi.
She was very fond of running but overall was cooperative around Rafael.
“Sure. Go and enjoy yourselves,” Rafael sipped his coffee and leaned back. His arm was around the chair where Marissa was sitting, “Shouldn’t we also join them in the garden?”
“What about the office? We need to be there…” she stopped when saw him shaking his head, “Not today!”
This time she was the one caught off guard, “But why?”
“Because I want us to spend some time together,” his index finger started playing with her ear lobe tracing it.
“I …. I have work… Rafael…”
“I know. Just today… please. See? How happy our kids are?” Marisa kept looking at him with a suspicious smile.
“For how long this place is booked?”
Rafael was stunned at the question and blinked, “What?”
“I mean it must be hell expensive to book it for breakfast. And now staying here means we have to pay extra,” Rafael kept looking at her and then broke into laughter.
Marissa who had been smiling, now looked confused, “What’s so funny?”
Before he could say anything, Ariel came running inside at full speed, “Daddy! See! Alex is… Oui!”
Rafael saw his daughter running towards him and didn’t take the time to stand and scoop her up. Alex who was running behind her stopped and hid something behind his back.
“What is it, Alex?” It was Marissa, whose voice softened with a motherly concern.
Instead of answering her, Alex started stepping back as if he had just realized, it was a mistake to come here.
His green eyes were twinkling in mischief.
“Alex!” Rafael tried to add a warning in his tone, but his son had seen amusement in his eyes. With lightning speed, he spun around and ran outdoors.
Holding Ariel, Rafael also took long strides to reach outside. Abigail was sitting on a swing while Alex was running around it, shrieking with glee.
Rafael placed Ariel down and ran after him, “Alex. Show me!”
Ariel also joined her father, “Daddy! He is holding a water gun!”
Before Rafael could understand, Alex turned and pointed the gun straight at his father’s face. Before Marissa could alert him, Rafael’s face and front hair were dripping wet.
“You little minx!” Rafael ran after him, and with a scream, Alex tried running away. However, his father closed the gap in no time and picked up his son.
Instead of snatching the gun, he twirled several times. Along with Alex, he was also in a laughing fit.
Still holding his son, Rafael collapsed onto the grass, with Alex clinging to his chest.
Abi got off the swing and tried walking ahead with small steps as she was instructed to do, to reach her father.
“Will it be OK if I join them, Mommy?” she asked Marissa with a scrunched nose and Marissa just nodded.
A smile broke on Abigail’s face as she dropped herself on her father’s body and started laughing without any excuse.
In the next few seconds, Ariel had also joined them. Chewing her upper lip, Marissa tried to hold back her tears.
This was the family she had imagined in her dreams.
She saw an old gardener who had stopped there to witness this moment with an easy smile. He was holding a water bucket.
With her quivering lips, she tried to control her breathlessness and then started walking to the man.
Without a word, she just motioned him to hand over the filled bucket and regarded her family. The kids were sprawled on Rafael, and they all were laughing like crazy.
Holding the bucket, Marissa headed over and threw water on them. None of them was ready for the attack and screamed at the top of their lungs.
Rafael blinked away the drops to look at the woman who was laughing but her tears were running down her face.
He raised his hand to hold hers. She reached out, expecting him to stand up. But he did the opposite and pulled her down on top of them.
Marissa was caught off guard and let out a surprised yelp.
