Chapter 229: 229- Marissa’s kids
“You must be out of your mind,” Nina snarled at Valerie who was sitting on Nina’s bed with those puffy eyes, “Marissa and Rafael are parents to two baby girls? How is that possible?”
“Delinda saw them. In a mart. A few weeks back,” Val said looking straight ahead.
Nina started shaking her head, not believing a word, Valerie was saying, “I met the woman after you left, Valerie. And in all honesty, I find a bit…” she shrugged, “A bit off… somewhat uncanny.”
Valerie didn’t respond.
This morning when Nina came back to her hotel room, Valerie was already sitting on her bed, staring into space.
When she got consciousness, she asked Ethan to leave her alone. She didn’t want to face anyone.
“Right now, you are also acting like her,” Nina remarked, expecting Valerie to fight back but Val stayed like a statue.
“That’s the reason he didn’t want babies with me, Nina,” Valerie’s voice was devoid of any emotion.
“And there is a reason your name is there on the marriage contract, Valerie. Not hers. Those babies are out of wedlock,”
For a minute, she felt sorry for Valerie.
All this time, this woman didn’t give a damn about her husband, however, since Marissa had gotten back into their lives, Valerie wanted Rafael’s affection.
Nina was pacing around in her room, thinking about what should be done.
“OK. Let’s go!” Nina picked up her purse. Valerie’s eyes raised slowly to look at her.
“Where are you going?”
“I’m not going alone. We’re going to MSin!” she shook Valerie’s shoulder, “Make it quick. Get ready.”

The best thing was, that Rafael and Marissa hadn’t reached the office yet while Dean was busy filing a few documents.
“Dean. Any idea when they will arrive?” Nina gestured towards Rafael’s room door. Dean looked back busily and shrugged with a pout.
He needed to take this file to MSin Palace. Rafael was waiting for it.
Today, Nina was having this odd feeling in the pit of her stomach. God! Valerie has turned me into a negative person.
Since their arrival, Rafael didn’t try to meet her properly nor did he interfere in any decision Marissa made.
What if Valerie was right? Nina didn’t have any access to Marissa for the last five years. She couldn’t give her any pill so naturally the pregnancy couldn’t be avoided.
She went inside and found Marissa’s team working on their laptops. None of them stood up to greet her. It was all Marissa’s doing.
The bitch showed her control over them when she had sent them on the Diamond floor.
“Is Delinda here?” she asked the employees and one of them nodded.
“She went to the café to have coffee!”
Nina turned away. She needed to talk to her son. As his mom, they couldn’t disrespect her.
Valerie was sitting outside, observing all the employees quietly.
“Valerie!” She looked up when heard her name, “Let’s go to the café.”

Once they entered there, Nina’s eyes quickly scanned the café and zeroed in when they found Delinda sitting alone in the corner.
Nina shuddered at the thought of talking to her. But then they had to as they didn’t have much choice.
Delinda looked up when found them standing there.
“Hello, Ms. Sinclair!” she smiled and offered them to take seats, “Something was telling me that you will try to meet me this morning.”
Again, the same feeling! She was a creep, indeed.
Nina looked straight at Valerie, “Let’s get done with it asap.”
Valerie took the hint and nodded. She was also not pleased with this meeting.
“So, Delinda!” Nina stretched her lips into a forced smile, “Tell us what you saw!”
Delinda ran her fingers through her pepper hair, “Nothing much. I saw them in this Mart with these two little girls. They were there for some bulk shopping. Like me, she is a caterer, so this Mart sells excellent stuff for cheap prices,” she chuckled, “But sometimes one needs to be careful because once they sold me a chickpea tin that was expired.”
Nina rubbed her thumb on her forehead in irritation. She wasn’t interested in this expired shit.
“So, these two baby girls. Were they holding them, or they were in the cart?” Nina asked her and made a face when Delinda shook her head.
“No. They weren’t holding those girls. They were standing and they were so funny. Ha-ha. They purchased con*doms. Ha-ha. The flavored ones.”
Nina frowned and crossed her arms, leaning back into the seat. Her eyes narrowed as she tried to make sense of her words, “Those babies were not only standing, but they also shopped co*ndoms? How is it possible?”
Valerie still appeared distant and distracted.
“Why not?” Delinda offered a faint, dismissive smile, “they were healthy and big. Why would their parents carry their five-year-old girls? And I don’t think girls of this age like, sitting in the cart,” She shifted her weight from one hip to another, “My boy is also like this. He never liked sitting in the cart…”
Delinda had started telling them the tales, they weren’t interested in. Nina wasn’t in the mood to hear any of it. Poor Delinda was still telling them something funny about Georgy when Nina decided to put a stop to it.
“We need to go, Delinda. Thanks for your time,” Delinda was surprised when she saw Nina getting up. She held Valerie’s hand and gave it a gentle tug. Valerie also got on her feet and walked away with Nina, without thanking the woman who gave them such a precious piece of information.

Once inside the elevator, Nina couldn’t hold it any longer and cracked up, taking Valerie by surprise.
What is happening to Nina? Is she equally disturbed after hearing the details of those kids?
Holding her tummy, when Nina spoke her voice echoed in the small elevator, “Oh my God! You believed her? She is such a drama!” she was gasping between the giggles.
Valerie twisted her mouth in displeasure, “Drama? You think those two baby girls are drama?” Val gritted her teeth and Nina tried to be somber.
“Tell me that you’re a fool without telling me that you’re a fool!” Nina smirked, “Don’t you understand, Val?” she held her hand.
The elevator stopped but Nina pressed the button to prevent it from opening, “They weren’t babies, silly. Those were five or four-year-old girls. Rafael went to Kanderton a few months ago. And this only means one thing.”
“And what is that?” Valerie whispered.
“Those girls aren’t Rafael’s. Marissa must have moved to Kanderton and got into a relationship. She knew she would never get back Rafael that’s why she moved on. She might be a mom to those girls, but they aren’t babies, and they certainly aren’t HIS kids. They are grown kids. Rafael might be taking care of them but in no way they’re Sinclair heirs.”
She patted Valerie’s cheek, “Now stop being depressed for something that isn’t there at all, Val.”
Valerie felt like a weight was being lifted off her chest. All this time she was worried for nothing.
They were Marissa’s kids. Not Rafael’s. Such a relief it was!
