Chapter 233: 233- She Is My Wife!
Nina saw her son leaving the room, gripping Marissa to himself like she was someone very precious to him.
“He seems to care for her,” Valerie told her mother-in-law and Nina thanked the stars that Valerie wasn’t crying this time.
“Don’t be negative, Val,” Nina fished for her cigarette in her purse and then reminded herself, that this wasn’t her office, “Men usually care for their mistresses.”
Valerie rolled her eyes with a sarcastic smirk, she didn’t look convinced.
“But men don’t hand over important office decisions into mistress’s hands, Nina,” she then smacked the table and left her seat.
“Where are you going?” Delinda who was sitting right next to her, asked her and then held her hand quickly, “You don’t need to give up on your husband just like that, Mrs. Sinclair.”
Val wasn’t in the mood to listen to any lecture. All the people sitting there in the room were whispering to each other about Marissa and her.
She felt insulted. She was the wife and Rafael never made an attempt to talk to her and he was spoiling Marissa so openly. What these people must be thinking?
Nina must be living in a fool’s paradise If she thought Marissa was just Rafael’s mistress. The confidence she had when she met Val’s eyes and winked.
She might not have the entry pass for the event, but why would she need it when she had Rafael, dammit.
Holding her Gucci bag, she turned to Nina, “Are you accompanying me? I don’t want to hear from you that you were left behind … as always.”
Exasperated, Nina also got up and they made their way out of the room. Nina quickly managed to put on her dark glasses.
“You shouldn’t give up. That creepy Delinda was right,” Nina huffed, quickening her pace to match Valerie’s, “That’s exactly why we need a foolproof strategy now.”
Valerie barely slowed, her face set in a deep frown.
“Valerie! Wait up!” Nina called her from behind, her voice was strained as she tried to catch up, “Let’s talk about it when you aren’t angry.”
Valerie didn’t respond. She was only interested in getting out of there and getting a good fu*ck from Ethan.
“Come on, Val,” Nina said between the pants, “Don’t forget. We are a team. We need to attack her most vulnerable spot that is least expected for her.”
Valerie crossed the lobby and exited the building. Whatever Nina was saying, it was all too familiar for her ears.
They had been planning for ages against Marissa and still, there were no results.
“Don’t tell me that you’re taking that shitty sister of yours quite seriously. She is nothing but a wh…”
Valerie couldn’t take it anymore. She didn’t stop but at least slowed down.
“She is nothing but a what, Nina? Who*re? Men don’t carry who*res around in their arms. Who*res don’t book White Palace when it’s simply out of everyone’s reach,” she snapped at Nina but stopped when she saw her smiling.
“What? What’s so funny?” she thought that maybe Nina had gone crazy.
“Nothing!” Nina’s eyes sparkled with mischief, “But forget about White Palace, sweetheart! Marissa won’t get it.”
Valerie furrowed her brows, “Forget about White Palace? Wh-why?”
“Because…” Nina turned to her and took off her shades, “I’m buying the White Palace,” Nina’s lips jutted out when she said the words.

Valerie was speechless.
Wait! What!
“H-how… I mean…” Right now, this didn’t matter if she wasn’t getting that property. Her initial plan was to ask Rafael to buy it for her.
However, that seemed next to impossible as he wasn’t even talking to her, nor he was giving her any chance to speak. It would be better if the property would stay in Nina’s name instead of Marissa’s.
Val didn’t mind it.
“This is absurd,” Valerie mumbled, “The owner was never interested in meeting anyone.”
The smile on Nina’s lips didn’t falter, “Wait a minute, Nina! Did you sleep with the owner? Because this was the only way to buy it.”
Val thought that she would receive a slap from Nina. But oh, man! How wrong she was!
Nina was blushing!
And Valerie thought she might have a heart attack, “Good God, Nina! YOU DID SLEEP WITH HIM!”

Marissa’s anxiety was mounting with each passing minute, “You better put me down!” Marissa gritted her teeth and even smiled at the people, she met on the way when he was taking her to his office.
The office staff were eyeing them. Some with mischief and some with envy while whispering to each other.
A few were like Dean who showed her a thumbs-up sign. Rafael’s office door, which had seemed only a few seconds away from the conference room, now felt like it was taking an eternity to reach there.
Thankfully when they reached inside the confines of his office, she took a sigh of relief.
“Will you mind putting me down now?” she retorted, “Drop this holier-than-thought attitude, Rafael…” She didn’t know why he was grinning widely when he not only placed her down gently but also helped her when she tried to get stable on her feet.
“Hello, Ms. Marissa Aaron,”
Marissa who was holding and pulling Rafael’s tie to give a piece of her mind, held her breath. Rafael didn’t tell me that we had visitors in the office.
She turned slowly, her movements measured and precise. Three gentlemen, suited in black were seated there and were trying hard to hide their amusement.
She tilted her head a little to glare at Rafael who was himself trying to control the mirth. He held her hand and walked to the couch area, taking the sofa right opposite to them.
“Are you Marissa Aaron?” A gentleman asked her after clearing his throat. She was about to nod when Rafael increased the grip on her hand and spoke curtly.
“No. She isn’t Marissa Aaron. She is Marissa Sinclair. My wife.”
Marissa thought she had heard him wrong.
It was like she could die and go to heaven any minute.
With misty eyes, she tried to look at the man sitting beside her, but the tears blurred her vision, making it hard for her to see through.
She felt her throat constricted and realized the guests were waiting for her to speak. Rafael’s arm circled her shoulders.
As if he understood whatever she was feeling.
He said again, “She is my wife. Marissa Sinclair.”
