Chapter 235: 235- Introducing Kids To The World
Marissa didn’t respond. She was sitting motionless on that couch.
“The lunch is about to arrive. You must be very hungry!” Marissa slowly moved her head to look at him.
“You didn’t eat anything. Right? You were lying when you said Shang Chi brought pasta for you.”
With a confused face, she got up and walked to him, “Yes. I lied. And I wanted to mur*der you. Now I can’t decide if I should kill you or have lunch with you.”
He was thrown off balance by the remark, “Marissa…”
“No, tell me, Rafael. How do you manage that?” she went closer to him and hugged him tightly. He stood there taken aback, not understanding what got into her.
She wasn’t making much sense.
“What’s the confusion, love,” he gave her shoulders a little nudge, “Is it due to the presence of those lawyers? No need to worry about anything. Everything will fall back into place.”
She tilted back her head to look into his eyes, “Thank you.”
He was again startled by the unexpected thank you, “For what?”
“For…” she swallowed hard, “for calling me … Mrs. Sinclair…” she chuckled chewing her upper lip.
The skin between his brows pinched when he found her eyes back to misty, “Is that why you were upset when they were here?” he asked her, gripping her chin between his index finger and thumb, and groaned when she nodded her head.
He didn’t know what else to do except to pull her to him tightly, “You do know, strawberry that this world isn’t for weak-hearted people,” He kissed her head and leaned his chin on it.
How to tell her what he was doing to keep his family secure?
How many sleepless nights had he spent just because he was lied to and betrayed by the people, he thought were sincere to him? By the people who were closest to him.
The couple stood there for a few minutes glued to each other as if taking and offering comfort at the same time.
“Why weren’t you responding to my calls and texts?” he asked the woman in his arms whose eyes were closed, and she was almost getting sleepy in his embrace.
“Hmm!” just a dazed sound came from her mouth.
“Marissa. Wake up and tell me. Why didn’t you text me back? I wanted to have lunch with you before their arrival,” he was talking about those lawyers.
Marissa blinked and then she remembered what he did to her. How she faced insult in that room because of him.
Within seconds, she was pushing him away from her, “How dare you? Huh. You asked them to remove my food table from the planner? Without even talking to me?”
He was again thrown for the loop, “Marissa…”
“Just because you gifted me White Palace, it doesn’t mean you’re allowed to make decisions on my behalf,” she conveyed haughtily.
Poor Rafael was surprised by the sudden one-eighty-degree turn in her behavior.
“OK. I can explain. Just listen to me…” he raised his arms in a gesture of giving up. However, the woman wasn’t least interested in his explanation.
“No! You listen to me!” she was getting breathless now, as her voice had raised, “You just called me Mrs. Sinclair in front of those black coat people,” her eyes turned glossy with unshed tears, her hands clenched tightly, “And right before that I came to know that I’m not getting an entry pass for the event. Just yesterday when I thought you were finally giving me my due respect,” she paused, her voice trembling with hurt “And today you made me a joke in front of those women’s eyes. They both got their entry passes but there wasn’t one for me. Why? You didn’t have enough paper? Not enough ink in your printer?” her eyes filled with tears, and she looked up at him, struggling to keep her voice steady.
Rafael was trying to understand, what had gotten into her. Back in the conference room, when he lifted her in front of everyone, she was shy. Then she got emotional when he introduced her as his wife Mrs. Sinclair.
And now this.
How many personalities had she got?

He scratched his temple, “Marissa!” he raised his brows, “Love. By any chance are you pmsing?”
Marissa’s forehead creased as she turned her gaze towards him, “Sorry?”
“Are you on your period?” she thought for a moment and then nodded, “H-how do you know?”
A smile broke on his face when he spread his arms, “Come here!”
“R-Rafael… but… the entry pass…”
“Forget about those damn entry passes, Marissa. Come here,” he said gently. Thankfully she had quit crying.
When she looked at his face, he nodded with an encouraging smile, “Come!”
Marissa hesitated for a moment; her eyes filled with uncertainty. She slowly moved ahead and walked into his embrace.
Rafael tightened his hold around her.
“Are you mad because you didn’t get the entry pass?”
“And for canceling my food table too…” she reminded him, “there are only three food tables instead of four.”
Her voice was muffled against his chest.
He nodded and then kissed her head, “I wanted to talk to you, but you were so busy since morning, so I just asked Dean to move it away. And then it got to Kate first,” she lifted her eyes and he smiled, “My apologies. I know you have worked very hard for this event.”
He looked down at her teary eyes and kissed her wet eyelids one by one.
“About your second query… the entry pass. You don’t need that entry pass, love. That pass is supposed to be for the employees. Invitations are for the guest. There will be only two people without these…” he trailed off when found her questioning gaze piercing through his soul, “You and me.”
Marissa stared at him, tongue-tied.
“Marissa Sinclair. I would love to introduce you and the kids to the event. I want to disclose our relationship to the world. We can’t let MSin employees think that their President is involved in a mistress. No. I can’t bear that.”
And I can’t stay close to you without touching you. No! Not the right time to say this. One step at a time Rafael!
A fear clenched Marissa’s heart. The kids at the event!
But Rafael was right. Someday they needed to be introduced to the world.
“Please allow me to go ahead with my decision, little Greene. Don’t worry. Nothing will happen without your consent.”
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Maybe he was right. Maybe this was the perfect opportunity to tell the world who they were.
“Fine!” she said leaning her forehead against his chest.
“Huh?”
“Let’s tell the world at the event, who we are, Rafael!” she pursed her lips into a tight smile. Before the event, she needed to talk to the kids about her plans.
They needed to stay in the loop.
Valerie and Nina! I hope you are ready for the blast!
