Chapter 245: 245- Panther-Like Grace
This time when the car entered the MSin Palace, Marissa felt home. This was no more a palace that she used to see just from outside.
It was her home now and she couldn’t wait to arrange a housewarming party here.
Kids were walking around in happiness. Rafael was talking to an older man who was wearing a white uniform. When he started walking towards her, that old man also moved along with him.
Rafael raised his head and found Marissa looking at him, “Hey, sweetheart,” Rafael used the endearment in front of the man.
It will take time to get used to such endearments from you. She thought to herself.
Marissa smiled when Rafael reached near her, “He is our head butler. Meet Mr. Sheldon Brown.”
Sheldon offered his hand for a handshake that was firm but gentle. Marissa liked the guy instantly.
“Hello, Mrs. Sinclair,” he greeted her with a warm smile, “Please let me know if you need any kind of assistance at your house. I’ll be at your service along with my staff.”
Marissa nodded, not knowing what to say. She never had a butler in her life. She only knew how to manage fifty to sixty members of her team who ran her kitchen for her.
“Nice meeting you, Mr. Brown,”
“Likewise. And please call me, Sheldon, ma’am,” Marissa tucked her hair behind her ear and checked Abigail who was walking slowly as taught by her doctors.
“Sure, Sheldon. Please call me Marissa,” Sheldon almost choked when he heard the words and stepped back.
“I … I’ll see w-what our chef has to offer you for lunch,” he scurried away leaving Marissa somewhat startled.
“Mrs. Sinclair,” Rafael bumped his shoulder into her, “No one will call you Marissa now. You are a princess, and no one would dare to use your first name.”
Marissa made a pout. After their lovemaking in the bathroom this afternoon, they ordered light snacks and decided to come here.
Though Rafael wanted to get done with the last touches, Marissa wanted to settle down here.
“That’s why he got confused,” she remarked with amusement, “Because this is way past lunchtime and still, he wants us to have lunch.”
Rafael poked his finger in her shoulder, “I hope you’ll like the interior design in all the rooms. Just in case, you aren’t satisfied with anything, do let me know. We will do it your way,” he placed his arms around her and pulled her to him for a kiss.
“You’re turning cheesy, mister! Aren’t you?” she tried to fix his hair casually, especially the dark locks that were falling on his eyes.
“And you are turning into a minx!” he said pinching her nose, “my minx!” he remarked with an affectionate smile.
“Mommy! Look at Abi!” Ariel screamed and Marissa spun around in a second to check her daughter. The little one was standing in the corner of the garden, smiling sheepishly, holding the hem of her frock.
“Are you alright, munchkin?” Marissa got to her and crouched down to check her, “What were you doing? What happened?”
She was bombarding the questions at her daughter checking her face for some sign of pain.
“Oh, ma’am,” Emily reached closer and held Abi’s hand, “she attempted to run but stopped as soon as her sister screamed.”
Rafael also ducked down near Marissa and held Abi by her shoulders, “Sweetheart. It’s your daddy’s promise. You will soon be running like anything.”
“Really?” the child spoke with innocence.
Marissa turned her head to watch her husband who was consoling their daughter. A few weeks back he had told her that the surgeon was on vacation.
After kissing Abi’s cheeks and murmuring little cute words of appreciation, he got up and gave a light shove to his daughter who joined back her siblings.
“The surgeon had a look at her reports which I sent him online,” he whispered, his voice barely audible, “He is saying the surgery can’t be done unless we provide him the most recent reports for her other tests,” his eyes were still on his daughter while his arm circled his wife’s waist, “there are kids who do get open heart surgery, but it all depends on their overall health. She can have this surgery after two years when her body will accept the change. Right now, her body is too frail and not ready.”

Marissa felt like crying. Her baby wanted to run and be normal like her siblings.
“He also said that we can take her to him every month for the regular check-up and if he deems it suitable, he might decide to do her surgery earlier. It all depends on her overall health.”
Marissa nodded in understanding.
“Listen, Marissa,” Rafael held her face, “You aren’t alone anymore. I’m with you. I’m not here to spend some good time with you. I’m here to stand beside you. We are a team and together, I’m sure we can do it.”
Marissa bobbed her head and lifted herself on her toes to kiss his cheek, “thank you for being here with me, Rafael.”
But Rafael was quick to hold her head, “Urgh,” he groaned, “The kiss on the cheek? Still? Don’t you like my lips anymore?” he asked keeping his one eye closed. Mischief was evident in his voice.
Marissa chuckled, giving a playful punch on his taut chest, “Yes. I don’t like your lips!” she stuck out her tongue.
“Don’t thrust out your tongue like this,” he said in a deadly whisper, “I might start sucking it here!”
Marissa was taken aback by the warning and squeezed her thighs together, “Shut up!” She rolled her eyes, “I said already. I don’t like your lips!”
“Well!” he curved down his lips with the fake sadness, “Last night it seemed to be quite the opposite.”
Marissa’s eyes went wide in embarrassment.
Who talks so casually about intimacy that too in the presence of the kids? In the middle of a garden?
Rolling her eyes, she turned around and headed to the house. Rafael’s smile widened when he saw her walking away.
Emily had awe and longing in her eyes for the family who were nothing but picture-perfect. And the way Mr. Sinclair was eyeing his wife, it was evident that he was head over heels for her.
His wife had long gone inside, and he was still standing there with that silly smile on his handsome face.
She wished there was a Xerox copy of him. Alexander was still a baby. Maybe a sibling who looked exactly like him.
She shuddered at her stupid thoughts and moved her focus back to the kids until Mr. Sinclair’s phone started ringing.
He received the call with a frown, his eyes still on the door where his wife vanished from sight.
“What? What are you saying?” the business tycoon who was a softie just a few minutes back, his facial contours hardened when he heard what was being said on the other side.
“How is he? Which hospital? I’m on the way,” he then turned to the butler who had just come out of the door, “Can you inform Mrs. Sinclair that I need to leave urgently? There is an emergency.”
The butler nodded quickly and went inside while Emily’s eyes were still on her handsome employer who moved to the car with the panther-like grace.
